I accidentally made a similar PAF sound when I miswired an Alnico 5 9K Bridge humbucker and resulted in 4.5K output with a ground noise. However, the sound was between a humbucker and a single coil...what an amazing findings..though its a bit thinner sounding that PAFs.

I just saw a video with Neil Schon had his fender stratocaster with this pickup...and Floyd Rose.... And he had it in the middle position and the selecter on the bridge pickup on clean channel of amp and it was just great sounding.

There's a way to make them stickers and tape glow so don't always go by that.

Thanks a lot for this very good video, you are really the specialist. I will check my 2 pickups as you adviced. But I think mine are Custombuckers, because they are looking too young.

Interesting Video. Thanks very much. ✌🏼 I am confused with some readings of PAF´s and advertising. Have 3 pairs. Bridge is around 13.5 K, Neck around 7.7 K. One advertising says with this reading, that they are "well balanced". What does that mean? Thanks again ✌🏼

Never saw a paf@ 13.5k, Don't think enough 42 gauge wire will fit .most are low 7k to mid 8k.

How do PAF’s compare to early patent no. pickup’s?
I have an all original ‘62 Les Paul (LP/SG) that does not have PAF’s. Could Gibson have replaced the stickers once the patent was approved?

The early patent number pickups are exactly the same as the later pafs (1960-1963ish for nickel) not uncommon to actually see one of each in 62-63. At that time it is the same pickup just with a different decal

Hi, how many conductor wires on a vintage PAF? 2 or 4? Thank you

Why would a pickup from the 1950s have four-conductor wire?

Not to be "that guy" but nearly every example you reference ends with you saying "but not always" or "sometimes it's questionable" or "this is not uncommon" or "Gibson did use them sometimes"...... Etc Etc Etc. So your tutorial on identifying OEM pickups leaves a lot to be desired. Of all of your specific examples were nearly always contradicted with an exception to the example.

Unfortunately that’s how it is with these as they were extremely inconsistent. Although most fakes don’t have any of the things I mention, the main takeaway should’ve been if you see those things I mentioned but still aren’t sure, ask me in an email

Well done video. We will also talk about the wire colors going into the coils, black and black and black and white big distinction between PAF some patent numbers.
