Very basic explanation with no fancy playing or showing off.
Just what I needed to see at my stage of playing.
    Thanks so much.

Hallo Mr. LISTER - Thank you a lot - and for the surprise, that you are not only a great musician but also a good teacher. We joined several concerts of you in Switzerland (Airport Zurich and other nice locations) it seems long time ago (and i am now 74 and still a blues/rock-fan) - but we hope to see you soon again. May God bless you and your country. (Brexit, Corona).

Time to try and memorize every note on the fretboard!

  • @8odycount

What you did around 13 minutes is basically the G major scale or one fingering of it. Practically you only need 5 fingerings, which means 5 different positions of the C major scale and shift them around the fret board for different keycenters. In these 5 fingerings you have all the scales like mixolydian, ionian, lydian, dorian and so on. That's the best thing I got taught ever. Jimmy Bruno is using a similar method, which he explains in his video. If you know these 5 fingerings, you are able to play over anything. Only melodic minor and harmonic minor are scales, which aren't included, I believe. Basically you are converting your guitar to a piano with only white keys. And the white keys you can play over any song in C major on the piano. It's a great way to break out of the minor and major scales, without learning dozens of different scales.

Nice tutorial Aynsley . The tone from the rift is special and your touch is wonderful. Bit pricey for us mere mortals tho. will have to keep practicing on my ht5 . Big Fan. your purple rain cover is fantastic. will be trying to catch you live real soon i hope. Hope you keep these lessons up. Great personality and fun to watch bud. Many thanks.

Thanks for posting this. It was good to get an insight about how you build your phrases. The playing from 14:16 is just lovely.
You did make me smile though with the 'standard issue, readily available guitar just plugged straight into my Rift signature* amp' talk.
*recently rated as one of the best amps in the world and not so readily available.

In the classical world they are called grace notes and passing notes. In jazz it's outside if discordant or inside if it's in the key but as you say it's the resolution to a target note that is the key.

another thing I noticed is all the blues greats even Jimi Hendrix SRV and others have their guitar slung pretty high , which does not look nearly as cool as slung low. I notice your guitar is slung pretty low,, do you find it impedes with your ability to shred ?

@@charliewiddows9872 Same story here! I became a total fan of Aynsley after being introduced to his music in TPS episode! ruclips.net/video/UIRNBtZa_Qo/видео.html Also I changed a conception of guitar tone to use volume knob on guitar for cleaning up from lead sound.
Thank you, Aynsley, for a great lesson! Guitar tone is magical to me!

Ayns, check out EZ Keys, best auto keys plugin I have ever used and an invaluable tool for inspiration when writing. It really is worth checking out the RUclips demo's, the variations are endless and sounds like a pro playing lol, you can even add extra notes in the chords or remove them, it's so versatile.
