- Thursday 24th June 4 am. Drag myself out of bed, into the car, drive to Glastonbury in Somerset. Twenty two hours later, and I'm still up. Full of artifical stimulants - caffeine, lager, vodka, Thai food - but not tired. It's a little past 2 am in a crowded noisy late night bar called Bourbon Street, in the Williams Green area of Glastonbury Festival. The Aynsley Lister band have been on stage for just over and hour and I've come to this bar because I've seen Aynsley before. They've been playing a great set, and now it's time for their signature cover.....

being from Scotland I had a massive drive to reach Glastonbury, left my friends to go to bed on the first night, thought I'd pace myself as it was going to be a long weekend, walked past this tent, got drawn in, was there for whole gig, bought a cd to commerate it and was last back to the tent of all my friends.

Heard this guy about 12 years ago when he was really young and he blew me away. Lost track of him till now. Great to here him again.
left my friends to get an early night after an all day drive thinking I'd pace myself since it would be a long weekend. Wandered past this tent, was drawn like a sailor to a siren by the wailing guitar, ended up in the front row going mental then being last back at the tent, after worrying all my friends and buying a cd enroute (which is till cherised).
Been to so manygigs I can never say which is my favourite, but this is my most pleasant surprise (Passion Pit at the same event is a close 2nd)
I have heard alot of covers of PURPLE RAIN.. but DAM this one is the best i've heard!!!!

Love it, we caught Ainsley in this late night session at Glasto - what a gem!! great stage presence and plays with such feeling.... i think the highlight of the festival for me!!

Amazing! Heard this playing in the pub a few weeks back and instantly recognised it. Can't wait to see Aynsley live this year for the first time.
Saw the band perform at the Black Horse Music Festival in 2010 a few months earlier - been a fan of AYNSLEY ever since !!
Went to see ALB a couple of years back. I've seen a gazillion bands and great guitar players. They blew me away.

When you hit the solo I was like yeah let's do this... But you killed it for me, left me bored till it got louder. That songs about power and passion.. Solo should have expressed that straight away.

The camera is a Panasonic TZ7 (ZS3 in the US). I uploaded the M2TS camera file without any alteration or editing and let RUclips convert it - to get the best quality. It took about 4 hours to upload :-)

It would have been rad if someone else did the solo. This kid is REALLY good at riffing and soloing through the whole song, but as far as an all out guitar solo, it would have been cool for him to maybe get in with the crowd a bit and take the chance to do a simple rhythm! Maybe the keyboardest do a huge solo or someone else comes out. Doing a solo in Purple Rain you gotta put your whole being and emotion into it! Really good cover.

Soulful yes, but where was the power and passion in the solo? I was expecting some SRV style soloing. Quite clearly the guy can play but that solo for the first 3 minutes was dog's doo.
+Carl Jones I saw during this 3 min solo a mix between mark knopler, david gilmour and john mayer, he's just not fast enought, but he play good notes at the good time, sorry for my english.
