I just bought one of these new over the ibanez sr505 and also over the sr2405 which was more than double the price of the yamaha. The neck on this 605 is soo nice and is similar in comparison to the ibanez but actually plays a bit faster to me. Plus the pickups are soo much more usable than the Ibanez imo. The EQ and pickups are very clear and usable all through their range. No gimmick switches either, just passive or actie and an eq. Super happy.
You can’t go wrong with Yamaha. As a guitarist finally buying a bass, I started down the bass rabbit hole. ??? Fender Jazz P… which way do I go???… blah blah blah… Then I remembered. “Yamaha!” And I was like “done!” Yamaha is the premium brand of non premium brands. A Yamaha is like a Martin or Taylor in the sub premium market place. On the high level, it makes sense to get a high end instrument, but as a high level player, I know if there is a good Yamaha guitar on site. If I am at a party and someone hands me a $600 Yamaha acoustic, I can play it on the same level as a 5k Carbon Fiber Emerald. A $600 Fender acoustic sounds like crap. Yamaha they really deliver and make very playable instruments.
This is my first bass that I purchased myself (second lifetime) and I absolutely love it! Play well, sounds great, and the look is absolutely fantastic
Got a BB434 last November and I love it. I make similarly average money and only rarely make significant music instrument purchases in a given year, but I have my eye on the BB734 as well.
@@QWRTkeyboard Right now I am exclusively a bedroom bassist. I haven’t had an opportunity to play mine out live so I can’t really say. With that being said, Rib is very insightful and he’s been a gigging musician for decades. I’d wager he’s right about what he said.
solid acoustics, electric guitars, basses, keyboards, amps. their solid state series from the 80s still sound good today. i also think they had a line conjunction with Soldano. Their small metal desktop line of amps are killer, only thing I have no info on is any bass amps by them, and i'm sure if they made one, it would be of decent value to the dollar as well. I never had a Yamaha anything in my hands that I wanted to Pete Townsend/Jimmi Hendrix.
Nice bass guitar 😎🤘🏻🎸 I own Yamaha basses myself and they are one of my most treasured basses. I definitely agree that Yamaha basses are highly underrated and they are definitely worth checking out.
I’ve played Fenders for as long as I can remember and own some fairly high end ones… however, I’ve been eyeballing the TRBX605 for a while now and I feel it’s time to pull the trigger. Good vid, cheers from Ireland ☘️
Im considering to get one of these, however id like to know first do you think its a lightweight bass? I need bass that is lighter than common jazz bass.
Yo, I absolutely love your channel keep it up! My heart belongs to these natural finish 5s man 😭 Have you looked at the Schecter CV-5 at all?? It’s an absolute bomb, with the zero fret I’m thinkin of picking one up. What’s your thoughts?
I was going to grab a CV-5 but I got a Model T instead only because I like the 60’s style pickguard and the big ol’ block inlays. It’s a solid bass but it weighs a ton. If I could go back and pick again I’d get the CV-5. Schecter makes a pretty mean bass though so I’d say go for it. I appreciate your comment too. It made my day. ✌️
This specific bass had me hesitate a lot. It's very pretty, plays well, unusually slim neck profile... It's the cheap plastic nut that made me reconsider. It's a simple fix, but it should be on the behalf of the company to stop using cheap materials like that, I don't want to fear ending up with a broken nut (grow up...).
People avoid the name. Yamaha has a big market in Europe and Asia. Why? They're not afraid of a Japanese name on their headstock. When the Japanese brands made it to the states, they changed their names to sound less Japanese but Yamaha didn't. So a lot of people saw the name and turned away. When I say my best guitar is a Yamaha, I get confused looks. People here think they just make dirt bikes.
dude your voice is super quiet. I got blasted at 1:33 and it was super annoying. perhaps something to fix for your next video. Other than that great video dude!
Dude, I have a BB40something and fing love - at like 499 + tax on Amazon one of the best purchases I have ever made...did I mention how freaking well this sucker holds tune!?
2024 is the year of Yamaha

Don't sleep on yamaha basses they're absolutely worth trying out. It's one of those hidden gems people don't think of.

I've been playing Yamaha basses since 82.. I have 12 of them and that my friends is not enough.

Love my 605!
I did upgrade pickups, preamp and tuners, but only cause my gigs fund my purchases.
Which pickups and preamp did you go with?
Nordstrand Zen Blades
Bartolini 3 Band NTMB+F Preamp, 5 Pots, 1 Toggle - HR-5.3
It has two volumes, one for each pickup. Much more usable than a blend knob which has some volume dropoff at the centre detent
Wow this sounds pretty dang good think I’ll grab one to try
I was happy when I saw this video because I'm about to review my 605 so it gave me someone else's perspective. Thanks
Can’t wait to see what you have to say. I love how thorough your content is ✌️

HAHAHA I can't believe I'm the "professional" musician you quoted. I will state it to the roof and back though. Yamaha FUCKS!

How is playing up high on it? Like the 22nd fret or so. I am looking at this or a Brice Defiant as my next pick.
