Without a doubt, this is one of the best channels on RUclips about Jamaica. I personally learned a lot from this channel and still learning. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Do not be discouraged, just filter out the noise and keep pressing forward. I am a fan of this channel and always watch your videos. Be so good that the haters can't ignore you, use the criticism as fuel and you will never run out of energy.
Hi Irie if you are in the public eye, there will be lots of positive and negative comments. The work you are doing is tremendous so keep doing what you are doing.
So the criteria for being a "real Jamaican" is whether or not I like this channel? I always urge caution when people try and proclaim what makes a "real" anything or not. EDIT: I love her channel and have been subscribed for some time now. But I don't think my "Jamaicaness" should be determined by whether I do or not.

I'm a Jamaican Irina and I've realized a mentality in some of us. For want of a better words, I call it "an aspect of the slavery mentality". We get upset when other people are doing things that we think we should be doing. But at the end of the day, we are either not doing it, or when we try to do it we don't get support from the same people who get upset that other people are doing it. We hold ourselves down. Why do you think this is the case? 🤔Is it because it's a habit? I know that some people leave hate comments because I challenge their views and it's a reaction due to cognitive dissonance (the image of Jamaica they have doesn't match the image of Jamaica they see in the videos). But the question why don't they drop the negative image. 🤔

You are one of the most articulate and thoughtful youtubers I watch and I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones focused on culture and history. Though I somehow missed your video on sorrel so I need to watch that next. My wife makes sorrel a couple times a year (she's Jamaican-Canadian) and several other Jamaican things. Honestly I'd probably watch gaming videos if you did those too, because I know they'd be good quality.

In general you’ll get negative comments because you have quite a few Jamaicans who only want the negatives about jamaica they only wanna hear about crime violence and poverty, when your highlighting a positive side of Jamaica they don’t like that. It’s sad that so many Jamaicans don’t really care about or love the island . Yes it has its problems but so does the U.S. Europe Canada you name it , and the comparisons are insane to do.You cannot compare jamaica to a first world nation that in itself is stupid . You are one of the most articulate and thoughtful youtubers I watch and I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones focused on culture and history. Though I somehow missed your video on sorrel so I need to watch that next. My wife makes sorrel a couple times a year (she's Jamaican-Canadian) and several other Jamaican things. Honestly I'd probably watch gaming videos if you did those too, because I know they'd be good quality.

In general you’ll get negative comments because you have quite a few Jamaicans who only want the negatives about jamaica they only wanna hear about crime violence and poverty, when your highlighting a positive side of Jamaica they don’t like that. It’s sad that so many Jamaicans don’t really care about or love the island . Yes it has its problems but so does the U.S. Europe Canada you name it , and the comparisons are insane to do.You cannot compare jamaica to a first world nation that in itself is stupid . Continue to highlight the positives and enjoying the island

Irina, you are doing a phenomenal job, I have always had this idea that the Jamaican passport was no good and you changed my mind on that as well as some of your other content. There's also a lot of information that I didn't know where the Queen and Jamaica is concerned, but you have educated me in that respect.
