Double cleansing is really for people who wear makeup IMO. But, with that being said, I love a good double cleanse because I use The INKEY List's Oat Cleansing Balm which is basically a spa in a tube. Sending you much love!! Edited to add: thinking about it a bit more, I personally think a double cleanse is essential for everyone, not just those who wear makeup. Think about how much sunscreen people apply to their face. I imagine people are reapplying sunscreen throughout the day and considering the proper amount that were supposed to use, it really does require a good double cleanse to get all that off. It would be great if you could do a test and somehow see what is left behind after a single cleanse versus a double cleanse. I have rosacea and I’ve been using the inkey list oat balm too! For some reason a lot of other cleansing balms irritate my skin? I have no idea why. I use that and I combine it with the krave matcha hemp hydrating cleanser... I wish I could cleanse less because my skin gets so aggravated by cleansing but I apply a waterproof sunscreen 2x a day so i really don’t know the solution
I so agree that the Jordan Samuels Skin brand does not get nearly enough love or attention that it deserves! I have tried several of his products and they are all so beautiful. His is not a British brand, however. It is a direct to consumer brand, although within the last maybe year or so, has started selling with Cult Beauty for the UK. Maybe that is why you though it was a British brand? He is American (he lived in Seattle but moved to New York last fall) and used to be a ballet dancer - that is why the names of his products are ballet themed. After he retired from the ballet, he went to esthetician school and eventually started his skincare brand. He is very interactive and responsive with his customers on IG. He also does IG lives sometimes and he is just a hoot! If you sign up for his newsletter on his website, you will get notified of occasional sales. I stock up when there is a sale because it gets expensive with our exchange rate (I am Canadian). ❤️
Rob, I have to thank you for recommendeding FT's Clarifying Cleanser. I have even used The Ordinary's 30% AHA and it was only until I used this cleanser, the texture on my upper cheeks went away like magic! I can only use it twice a week right now...until humid weather hits here...but it is a keeper.
I think the next big "trend" in skincare is going to be algae. I would LOVE your thoughts regarding algae and its properties in skincare as well as products that contain algae.

I virtually never wear make up and the most I need to remove is spf and life. I love rose products so use super Facialist rose cream cleanser and TIL oat in the evening first. Have a super bank holiday weekend x

Well hello Rob! Closing in on that 40K !! I use the FT clarifying cleanser pro, but after rubbing it in for about 60 seconds I leave it on my skin for approximately 2 extra mins. Works as a great mask, as well.
OMG I know hun I cant believe it and I am so so luck to have so much support form everyone its so humbling for sure... I love the idea of keeping it on a little longer as a mask to get the max exfoliation.. sending you so much love xxxx
Yes lesson learned for me 😳The Face theory clarifying cleanser is definitely not an everyday product for my skin. The FT Vit C cleanser works best as my daily with the clarifying cleanser used an exfoliator a couple of times a week.

hi m.a.s. 🤗 this video is so timely - i was just thinking about facial deep cleansers. i'm all in with The Ordinary since buying a bazillion products last novemeber. while their cleanser is pretty good, i find myself using my spin brush to really work the product into my skin and get the dirt, oil (and sometimes makeup) off. ill check out these brands and decide which one or two are best for my face (and my wallet) and give them a try when i run out. thanks for sharing 😁

I appreciate that you promote alternatives to double cleansing. Currently there's a lot of hype around it, people on Instagram sometimes go as far as to say that you're not cleansing effectively if you're not using two cleansers, when in reality a regular cleanser is more than enough for most people who don't wear heavy make-up.
Catching up with 2 days delay 🙈 I very recently started the Jelly Joker by G&G for a very light gentle cleanse in the mornings and absolutely loving it. In the evenings I keep faithful to my dear FT Clarifying Cleanser Pro. It's super effective and the creamy texture is ideal for a little massage 💟
I love the ren clarifying clay cleanser. Also started using the facetheory Pro clarifying cleanser after watching one of your reviews and it is brilliant. Takes off all spf layers and leaves you with nice smooth skin 😊

I’ve always double cleansed my whole life before I even really got into skincare and found out that double cleansing was a thing! lol I’ve always seen makeup removal and cleansing as two completely different and separate things! I would see people giving a cleanser a bad review because it didn’t do a good job of removing their makeup and I was always thinking??? That’s because it’s a cleanser honey not a makeup remover! I religiously double cleanse. Remove dirt and makeup and then a cleanser to actually clean the bare skin. I’ve settled on a balm or milk as my fav for makeup removal and I love a light foamy but not drying cleanser!

This is really helpful information. Thank you for including reviews of cleansers for sensitive skin people like me. I’ve been doing the double cleanse thing, but would like to have one cleanser that does it all for those nights when I just don’t feel like taking as much time with the double cleanse. Even though I have sensitive dehydrated skin, I still find that some cleansers don’t leave me feeling clean and like I have to wipe away leftover debris, so thanks again for all the tips!
I bought the face theory cleanser by your reccommendation but when the product arrived it had sharp shards in it. I emailed them and they said this was the acid formation in the cleanser and shouldn't be there. They refunded me minus the postage costs. Just mentioning this in case anyone has the same issue xxx

I just am exploring the NIOD Sanskrit cleanser on your recommendation and got to say I really don't like the scent. But it does some kind of miracle on my skin. There a deepth of cleanse that's outstanding for some reason I can't really comprehend. ☺️

Hi Rob a few of my favourite single step cleansers for my very dry, reactive, rosacea and eczema prone skin are: skincity mellow balm cleanser - melts easily, takes off everything without stinging my eyes, turns into a milky consistency and rinses off easily leaving my skin soft/hydrated purito from green cleansing oil - spreads easily, takes off everything without stinging the eyes, turns milky and rinses off cleanly klairs GENTLE black fresh cleansing oil - spreads easily, takes off everything without stinging the eyes, turns milky and rinses off cleanly These are all single step cleansers for me and if necessary eg multiple layers of beach spf can be used twice for excessive stuff to remove. I find they work as a single step for normal amounts of spf and makeup though. They're all fragrance free and gentle leaving my skin soft and not at all stripped. Muslin cloths i find are a bit too harsh for my delicate skin and instead recommend a plush microfibre (bamboo versions are available rather than plastic) cloth. Manual exfoliation of any type makes me red and that includes muslin/cotton cloths. The softness/plush feel of the microfibre cloth is much more gentle on the skin and boosts the performance of any cleanser. Best wishes.

Speaking of Cleansers and heavy waterresistant sunscreens... Do you have any recommendations on BODY washes for that purpose? In summer I wear sunscreen on my body (arms, chest area) every day but when I shower with a normal bodywash I have the feeling that the sunscreen is still sitting on my skin. Can you do a video on body cleansers that wash away the sunscreen completely? That would be lovely!
I use the standard CF clarifying cleanser and abso love it! I use it daily and actually have sensitive skin so thought it would flair me up but it doesn't at all! V odd as expected it but is my fave cleanser ever!
the cream cleanser with AHA BHA from face theory was the first PR* I got and my first RUclips vid! it was HEAVY DUTY! it never effed up my skin barrier, but it did do the job nicely. I just wasn't too much of a big fan of that tingly sensation. But it was super nice while I had it!

I just am exploring the NIOD Sanskrit cleanser on your recommendation and got to say I really don't like the scent. But it does some kind of miracle on my skin. There a deepth of cleanse that's outstanding for some reason I can't really comprehend. ☺️

Hi Rob a few of my favourite single step cleansers for my very dry, reactive, rosacea and eczema prone skin are:
skincity mellow balm cleanser - melts easily, takes off everything without stinging my eyes, turns into a milky consistency and rinses off easily leaving my skin soft/hydrated
purito from green cleansing oil - spreads easily, takes off everything without stinging the eyes, turns milky and rinses off cleanly
klairs GENTLE black fresh cleansing oil - spreads easily, takes off everything without stinging the eyes, turns milky and rinses off cleanly
These are all single step cleansers for me and if necessary eg multiple layers of beach spf can be used twice for excessive stuff to remove. I find they work as a single step for normal amounts of spf and makeup though. They're all fragrance free and gentle leaving my skin soft and not at all stripped.
Muslin cloths i find are a bit too harsh for my delicate skin and instead recommend a plush microfibre (bamboo versions are available rather than plastic) cloth. Manual exfoliation of any type makes me red and that includes muslin/cotton cloths. The softness/plush feel of the microfibre cloth is much more gentle on the skin and boosts the performance of any cleanser. Best wishes.

Speaking of Cleansers and heavy waterresistant sunscreens... Do you have any recommendations on BODY washes for that purpose? In summer I wear sunscreen on my body (arms, chest area) every day but when I shower with a normal bodywash I have the feeling that the sunscreen is still sitting on my skin. Can you do a video on body cleansers that wash away the sunscreen completely? That would be lovely!
I use the standard CF clarifying cleanser and abso love it! I use it daily and actually have sensitive skin so thought it would flair me up but it doesn't at all! V odd as expected it but is my fave cleanser ever!

the cream cleanser with AHA BHA from face theory was the first PR* I got and my first RUclips vid! it was HEAVY DUTY! it never effed up my skin barrier, but it did do the job nicely. I just wasn't too much of a big fan of that tingly sensation. But it was super nice while I had it!
