    I'm a 32 year old man, I have never used skin care products but I have been looking into them lately - I want to feel cleaner and look more refreshed. So I have just ordered the two products you have recommended. I'll let you know the results if you are interested! Thank you.. it was a lovely video. :)

      Hey! :)
      Thank you!
      What is your skin type?
      When using this cleanser or Facetheory's Glycolic Face Scrub E1, start using it 2-3 times per week to see how your skin will feel when using it that often. If everything works well, you can use it more often! If it leads to stinging, reduce the frequency of it.
      I haven't done a video about Facetheory's Glycolic Face Scrub E1, which my husband and I prefer and is a bit gentler, yet effective and you may be able to use it more often during the week.
      The one in the video is a bit stronger and a bit better if you have dry skin because if you have oily skin, it may make you oilier throughout the day. Whereas Facetheory's Glycolic Face Scrub E1 does not.
      If you want to start washing your face daily with a cleanser, I recommend getting another gentle one without exfoliating acids, like Aveeno's Oat Cleanser, which I like too! :)

      @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hey :)
      I have slightly dry skin, with bits of mild psoriasis. I am hoping it can help refresh and smoothen out my skin as it can get a little flaky and dry if not cleaned everyday.. which is why I wanted to use an acidic cleanser to help penetrate and clear debris. That is my newbie theory anyways, and we'll see if it works.
      Using a scrub or something abrasive doesn't sound ideal for me because if I scrub at my skin I get very sore, red and sensitive around the dry spots so that is why I think using these products first sounds like a good place to start. What do you think?
      Regarding something gentle, I think I need something with some strength to penetrate my skin, atleast to start. Sometimes I get small patches of it on my body and the skin gets thicker and my normal moisturiser doesn't do anything really except help the itching. I want something to help with it but also make my facial pores unclogged, clean and feel fresh! :)
      Thank you for replying!

      Ok, start with the products you have ordered and see how it goes!
      Just make sure that adjust the frequency of the cleanser, you can use it daily, however, you may want to start with 2-3 times per week and from there on adjust the frequency of it.
      Have you also thought of using a Retinol product?
      Keep me up to date! :)

      @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet They are arriving today so I will start today!
      My skin can be sensitive to rubbing/scrubbing but nothing else that I know of irritates my skin, so I'm kind of expecting to not be sensitive.
      I don't know what Retinol is, I'm very new to this haha. Maybe I would benefit from some sort of chemical peel.. I can get tiny flakes falling off my face and eyebrows if I scrub at it, which leaves it red and very tender.. but I also get flakes if I don't. Moisturising it seems to keep it hidden but I would rather fix/manage than hide.
      I will keep you up to date for sure!

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 года назад

      @@craigy_uk Well, this cleanser is an exfoliating cleanser (AHA/BHA are chemical exfoliating acids) that should be able to get rid of the flakes over time and increase the hydration within the skin.
      A low strength Retinol may be interesting for you as well, but if you want to look into it, I recommend it much later. Try the products you just got at first and see how they work for you before adding anything else! :)

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  2 месяца назад

      Hey! :)
      Well, it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun because it helps shed dead skin cells from the surface. However, it also depends on how much sun exposure you have. If you stay indoors most of the time, wear a cap, or have a place where you can seek shade to avoid standing in the sun for too long, then using sunscreen may not be needed. Basically, only use sunscreen if you cannot avoid getting a sunburn.

    Hello! :)
    Thank you for your videos. I want to ask a little advice.
    Since one/two months I've been experiencing maskne. I've never have such problems and I'v never been a skincare routine-person.. really, I was used to wash my face just with water.
    I didn't know exactly where to start, and I am still lost. I wanted to order some products from the ordinary, but most of them were out of stock. So, I've chosen facetheory. I've picked up 4 products for my future pm routine.
    - The cleanser C2 you have reviewed
    - Toner: Glycolacsal Solution T4 with Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Lactic Acid - Unscented
    - Serum: Regenacalm 2% Retinol and Vitamin C Serum S1 with Dill, Liquorice Extract and Hyaluronic Acid
    - Supergel Oil-free Moisturiser M3 for Oily and Acne-Prone Skin with Aloe Vera and Niacinamide
    What do you think about it?
    I will do, obviously, the patch test. Is it a good starting point?
    Thank you
    Have a nice day :)

      Hello Francesca.
      Well, I haven't tried most of those products, so I cannot tell you how they before. Just by looking at the ingredients, it may help you over the long whole.
      However, with "maskne" it may be best to use Benzoyl Peroxide to "spot- treat" them since it will kill the bacteria and you will have the best experience.
      Or since you already have the products try it see how you go, and maybe this will be enough.
      Just wondering where are you from 🤔?

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  2 года назад

      As Reuben And Mum already pointed out, this is a cleanser, so you would follow the steps I showed in the video. It is meant to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells from the skin surface before applying other skincare products to the skin (such as toner, serum, essence, moisturizer) if needed, but you do not have to.
      It is also an exfoliating acid cleanser which is vital, so you need to be careful not to overuse it as it can quickly lead to skin irritation,
      Your pores do not open and close; they can just become enlarged if dirt/dead skin cells or overproduction of oil is clogging them, and with this cleanser, you can "shrink" them back to normal when used regularly.
      You may want to watch an entire routine which I have on my channel to understand the steps. (Without the makeup but you could stop at the sunscreen step) And of course, you do not need to follow all the steps but just that you understand the whole process. 😃
      Facetheory Clarifying cleanser would be your cleansing step in this routine:

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  4 года назад +5

      Silicons do not clog pores; the only thing that may happen is when you are not cleansing your face correctly, "dirt" (dead skin cells, makeup, pollution, etc.) on your face can build up, and the silicon may come into your pores, and this mixture can lead to breakouts. But you will have this issue with a lot of skincare ingredients. So that's why you should always cleanse your face properly. Silicons do not cause acne or clog pores; they can prevent it since they build a protective layer if appropriately used.
      May I know where you get this information from and what else were they saying?

It's actually weird that it happens to Paula's Choice as well because they are one of the honest brands in the industry. (Maybe because they are American 🤷🏻‍♀)
      Anyway, it is a fantastic Vitamin C serum. From my experience, it stays stable for three months and even a bit longer if you do not store it at very high temperatures above 23-25 degrees. I have never had any issues, but yes, it is expensive, and a more affordable option would be Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow.

    hooiii Melissa,I have the vitamin C cleanser from Face Theory.... it's OK...I started wiyh this one since the one you are using at the moment on your video is in my opinion,rather strong...too many acids..anyway, i do not like the packaging...Iam more afraid of dropping the bottle!!!! Face Theory has great products as far as ingredients goes. I have a few products from this line. I ended up using this cleanser, the vitamin C one,as my second cleanser and as a mask, then rinse it off in the shower since I find cleansing to messy!!! I always want to meake sure I include my neck and back of my neck.. This mosturizer is nice. Light for in the summer, nice ingredients and does what a mosturizer should do...their range of serums s also not bad....I like their unscented products, the ones with fragrance are too strong!!! Personally I avoid fragrance, at least on face products..... hahahaha I guess if I want the spa idea or therapeutic feel...Ill just use a candle...hahahaha.... good review!!

      Hey😊
      I have the Vitamin C Cleanser as well and noticed that it is a bit more cream-like than the clarifying cleanser, which I prefer a bit more, however, I like the clarifying cleanser since it exfoliates the skin well and the rest of the skincare routine can be so simple and still is good for the skin!
      I do have to admit; I prefer a pump over a jar..that for sure!😅
      But yeah, I do agree that it may be too intense for some people, but not everyone has to use it daily😊 , but I like that they have a scented and unscented version so that anyone can try it😊

      Well, texture-wise I like it a lot and it feels good on the skin, I also don't mind the jar but I just miss the pump since it is so unconvienent...However, I do feel like it's a bit strong...I couldn't use it daily and I do not recommend this cleanser for people with sensitive skin.
      I prefer the Skinceuticals Glycolic Renewal Cleanser or their LHA Cleanser or the La Roche Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Cleanser.

      @@juhnetmickerdy Well, their Clarifying Cleanser contains more (4%) Glycolic Acid and 1% of Lactic Acid, which is more suitable for dry skin. However, as for sensitive acne-prone skin, this can sting on the skin.
      Their Glycolic Face Scrub E1 contains a lower % (2%) of Glycolic Acid so it isn't as intense.
      They even say this about it: ''If you prefer a stronger cleanser, you may be interested in Clarifying Cleanser C2''.
      So, be careful when using it. Just use it 2-3 times per week. I wouldn’t overdo it as it really can irritate the skin if you are using it too often. Balance it out with a gentle cleanser.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 года назад +2

      Well, Vitamin C is most effective when the skin's pH is low, and if you use an acid, it will be more effective. But it may harm your skin if your skin is already sensitive or damaged. I think, therefore, most articles say that you should not combine them to avoid skin irritation.

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 года назад +3

      You may want to use an eye makeup remover solution first and then remove the rest with the cleanser. It's because it includes exfoliating acids which should not be used too close around the eye.
      But I generally like to recommend taking already most of your makeup off with micellar water, makeup wipes or other makeup solutions and then move on to the cleanser :)

    • @paggio81
      @paggio81 3 года назад +1

      Makes sense but then they shouldnt use the make up remover phrase and keep it only as a cleanser, its misleading since a make remover should go especially on the eyes where the most of the make up is concentrated...right?

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 года назад

      @@paggio81 Yes, you're right, however, lots of cleansers are misleading with their 'makeup phrase' where it mentions to leave out the eye area and claims to remove makeup, but in fact, it is so difficult to remove it that you are better off with a makeup removing solution before even using the cleanser😉
