Day 3 in California- Zach and Randy do America with Trevor Bales. What fun would it be if we didn't get into any trouble. It turns out the US Air Force Base takes trespassing pretty seriously. Our saga continues at fourth-generation family owned Johnston Farms, nestled in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, near the base of the Tehachapi mountains. Johnston's farm potatoes, bell peppers and a variety of citrus including oranges. We found their green house and citrus packing house to be incredibly fascinating.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Thanks for another great video on the farm trip. It was interesting and enjoyable and extremely interesting.
First. Congratulations Becky. The commercial you did was absolutely wonderful. You did great. Good product also. Thanks for doing that Becky.
Also sincere thanks to you for all of your editing of these videos from the farm trip. They are great.
Second. Loved Randy explaining how our form works. Put it in the ground and we have corn. Not all of this fancy steps to get the fruits and stuff.
    Good one Randy.
Third. This visit to the orange plant was extremely interesting if I dare say so. Wow. Would never have guessed that much was involved. The automation in these plants is great. They run a lot of oranges thru there. Totally enjoyed the tour of the Orange plant and associated places.
The explanation of implanting the trees blew me away. Never knew that. Wow. How interesting. The gentleman that showed you around and explained this cross breeding of the trees did a great job of explaining the process. How interesting. Never knew that before. Many thanks for the tour there.
Edwards Air Force base. Been there several times for conferences during my Air Force career. That base does a lot of classified testing of aircraft so that is why they gave you no entry. If had known you were going by there, could have arranged a tour of the main base but not allowed in the aircraft testing areas. Super base and a lot of interesting aircraft tests there.
The videos on your farm trip are extremely interesting and enjoyable. This has been just great. Appreciate you taking us along and all the filming. Great trip guys and oh yes Treavor also.
What is this with Treavor ‘s motel. ??? Why not stay with you all. Oh well each to their own.
I will be quiet now. Great trip. Great tours and informative plants.
You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video on the trip.
    Thanks for everything.

I understand what you're saying about classified work on military installations, still, without possession of the federally approved variety of credentials (or entry with someone with credentials), it doesn't matter if the installation participates in "classified testing" or not, every single American military installation on the planet won't let you put so much as your big-toe past their boundary without sanctioned approval plus a credentialed escort, or approved credentials of your own.
And even if you're hanging around outside of entry/on the perimeter, they're watching and you should expect someone's approach to question your presence.
Those Area 51 enthusiasts always make me laugh, when they're out there snapping pictures and lurking around the perimeter, then get all riled-up when someone comes out to question their presence, saying "see we told you they're hiding shit!!!" haha ha
Air Shows and other pre-planned public events with limited/structured access, are very different from appearing at the gate, of course.

My mother lives in an area that was an orange grove before they built houses. The builder left several trees as part of each house's landscaping. Walnuts, almonds, and many other crops are all grafted on to a root stock that is different from the producing plant. Garden roses are the same. They are grown for a strong rootstock and then for the pretty or fragrant flower. The fragrant flower may have a weak growing root system so they are grafted to a plant that was hybridized just for its strong roots. Very common practice in agriculture.

Haha I remember staying in a room like that. Lasted 1 night and found a better motel / hotel to stay in. Think it had a box you put a quarter in for 'some' reason. LOL. Hope the crew / family and you are doing well. Take care - be safe. Thank you for the video.

Man, that was more science than we signed up for! Had no idea. Becky should get to have her own trip. Maybe a trip to NAPA Valley!

I was a fourth generation rose grower in Tyler Texas and ever rose bush was grafted the same way as the citrus trees are in this video.
    Great video

I will be driving through those windmills tomorrow, and I think I have peed on that same gate lol
It's fun when it snows up there...
And I am pretty sure you were looking at one train, that was the Tehachapi Loop where the train circles around and crosses over itself.
Great video, loved the detailed look at the processes!
