Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Much like Welkers, Fast Ag, Browns, etc., the presence and involvement of the older generation (also mine) adds the element of wisdom and experience. I smiled when Zach mentioned a thresher. I'm 73 and one of my oldest memories is a threshing machine driven by a big belt from a traction engine. They were situated in our farm yard, which seems like an inefficient workflow looking back on it. I would have been about five years old, so 68 years ago.

    • @dwightl5863

Which of us farm kids does not remember the first time that his/her dad/mom let him/her drive a tractor ALL BY HIMSELF/HERSELF? For me, I was 5 years old on a Ford 900. Dad instructed me before he turned me loose: "When you get by the barn, just shut the key off." It was a trip of about maybe 60 yards long, with one gentle curve. The Ford 900 was pulling a wooden haystack, after Dad had pitched off a jag of hay for our herd of 40 Hereford Momma cows. I think that Dad walked just off to the side and slightly behind the tractor the whole way. I was ON TOP OF THE WORLD!

Onyx uses his mirrors better than half the men watching this. He gives me faith in future generations. I love watching the kids grow and get more rowdy on their toys!

Rumor has it Becky really likes when it’s hard for you to talk. I think it was something along the line of it’s the only time your not talking much when your at home and she can concentrate on what she is working on. Well something close to that anyways. Lol 😂…….0n a serious note thank you for the videos!! Crazy how much technology is in farming now compared to when I used to do it.

Been around farms and combines for many, many years. To give you an idea on how many, I sold one or two of those gray moistener testers new when I was a teenager. Yet, I am always amazed by the advancements in technology. The Machine Sync is something I didn't know about. Hope your throat gets better and continued success with your harvest and fall work.

A couple of things with your diesel pump. First, if you’re not using a high flow pump and larger nozzle and secondly change your fuel filter regularly.

I noticed when your head stopped you were going perpendicular to the rows. Had the same thing happen with a macdon. Having beans all the way across the sickle like that will stop it dead in it’s tracks having no open space for the cutterbar. Hope this helps! Happy harvest!

As soon as he said he needs a name for the beetle, I immediately thought Baily. Every Sunday I would read it in the paper. Him and Sergeant Snorkel. Now that's old school

Just watched this video. Great. I really enjoy your videos. I love the way you take care of your family. I worked on my uncles farm when I was a boy. I loved it but we had cattle and pigs. Anyway, just love to watch your farm work.
