He might not have had a great career afterwards, but that night, Buster Douglas became an instant legend and the ultimate giant killer
He went 38-6 that's a pretty good career
What he did was important. He showed boxers Mike was human.
This was when Mike’s sparring partner knocked him down right? Mike was woefully unprepared for this fight and his entire career was beginning to slide at this point. That said, being the first guy to not only knock him down, but beat him in competition will keep his name in the history books forever. Mike did beat him in the 8th round though.

This fight is considered to be one of the biggest upsets in sports history, but in my opinion it's the greatest! At the time, people considered Mike Tyson to be an unstoppable invincible force of nature, especially after the Marvis Frazier fight. Not a single soul believed that Buster Douglas had even a chance of winning. Most men who were betting on the fight weren't betting on who would win, but on what round Mike Tyson would win by KO! Yet Buster Douglas managed to win through the determination he got from his mother! He truly shocked the world!
Never had any money or gambled but I put a quid on Buster.
I knew he would be motivated and Tyson nearly lost to Tillis.
I never believed the hype.

“One thing I’ve learned after years of being a boxing fan, is that greatness sometimes manifests in different ways and varying capacities. Buster Douglas may not be remembered as an all time great heavyweight, but on that one fateful night in Tokyo, he truly was greatness personified.”
The stars aligned, Douglas had the reach, the jab and the fortitude unlike any fight he fought before. Mike Tyson brought the best out in Douglas, and Tyson was obviously not focused in his preparation. Still, a great fight by the huge underdog Buster who could have quit after being almost knocked out in Round 8, but he didn't fight scared. The odds were 37-0, or 42-1 or whatever (they keep changing in every article) for Tyson. Who would have paid up if Tyson had actually won?
Meanwhile, Busters family and friends were inventing new dances
@@roguesheep3083 Imagine the bookmakers new dances.
Mother love is always greater than self life
A mother's love and prayer is a powerful combination!!🙏🏾

You guys killed it with the 80’s movie styled music and edits, really reminds me of a good Rocky movie
I was just thinking that I'm liking thee Rocky feel😁
@@goodnightmunchie Why?
No What happened Is The Establishment Wanted to See Mike Tyson Destroyed, Not just Defeated, So It Took the United States Government, The department of Correction , Mike's Own mind and Will, his Financial problems, his Emotional problems, his Gold Digger Jezebel Wife , And Buster Douglas to Beat Mike Tyson ! For Me Mike Still Won that Fight 💪 Because Not Even a Immortal Man Can Accomplish what Mike Did, True Legend
@@goodnightmunchie why?
I think the editing was meant to emulate Rocky especially with that last freeze frame.
douglases mother passed away just few days before this match. Before He promised his mother that he s going to beat Mike Tyson. After a almost knocked out kick from Tyson douglases came up strongly n knocked Tyson for the first time! What a game❤❤❤❤❤
The way the ref hugged Mike after the knockout.
Without words... Buster is a legend

42 to 1 odds. Held in Tokyo because no one in the U.S. thought they could sell tickets to "Tyson vs. an Unknown." The greatest upset in sports history.
