Im an esthetician. I love that people want to take care of their skin at home! This is technically NOT dermaplaning, true dermaplaning requires a medical grade scalpel that actually takes off the first layer of dead skin cells called the stratum corneum. It’s a much deeper exfoliation.
This is facial shaving with a very dull razor. That is a one time use, and one time use only. Many people become very sensitive and experience breakouts from this. These razors are only made for small areas like the brows or on the lip. They’re not made for the entire face.
I tell people to do this if they want at home before an event every now and again. But this isn’t something you should do frequently.
(Also those price quotes are insane and inaccurate… a dermaplane alone should be between 60-100)
Thank you - I used to do it often and it caused tremendous issues with my face that I still struggle with to this day. I now only get a full face thread if the hair on my face is visible but I don't do it as often as I used to. Trying to stop doing so much to my face and let her be for once!
It causes ppl more issues i feel like
I've been doing this for years and have no issues
@@SM-gy5wv congratulations
Thank you for this info !
I like how she alert everyone to make sure the counter is clean, your hands are clean and not just the process how to clean the face. Because have a clean space is first thing to have before doing anything and that's something most of the people forget about...
I already see some comments about how it could break you out and that’s super true, but it works for a lot of people as well. I have very sensitive skin and dry dermaplane - it’s fine for my skin. It won’t work for everyone like most things.
it’s so true Kate💜💜 Between breakouts or getting a cut you have to prevent these things with detailed prep ✨✨✨
I've been watching your content since I was a freshman in highschool... that was 8 years ago now! Thank you for teaching me so much
I love your voice and the gentle way you have to explain things!
I am so happy to see you are using the same face mask as I am. That mask is sooooo good. I just bought 3 of them like 10 minutes ago. Love you so much, you're such an inspiration❤
Every time I do this my makeup looks insanely gorgeous. Thank you for the tips 😍
I do this and it’s made a huge difference in my dry skin! It’s made my face so much healthier! It’s not for everyone, but dry skin girlies, it’s worth a try!
I love doing this everything goes on so smoothly
So I love dermaplaning! I do it regularly. Something to keep in mind though is that it IS really irritating. My face gets really red after I do it, and that redness lasts an hour or so afterwards. I just make sure to soothe my skin with products but dermaplaning is definitely not something you wanna do getting ready for a date; do it the night before
i recommend getting a straight edge razor and you buy those double blade razor blades that you snap in half. The blade is a lot smoother, it's cheaper in the long run, and you can ensure you have a fresh new blade every time
Girl you look stunning in the thumbnail i looove that natural makeup on you
these videos help me sleep so much, thank you 🩷
Video ideas: Q&A so we can get to know you better again, skincare routine, makeup collection, daily makeup routine, after shower routine, a vlog, etc. of course, only if you like to make those.❤thanks❤❤
Love the video Alex! I would love to hear you share your favorite facial microcurrent massager tools in the future ❤
Yes!!! Thank you 💗💗✨✨
So helpful. Many thanks!
thanks so much for watching ❤
Funny I heard once that Marilyn Monroe used steps cream on her face to encourage peach fuzz. I guess the peach caught the light and helped her glow?
Yes! She felt her peach fuzz gave her a soft focus look on camera and on screen!
we love you 🥰
I use one with a biodegradable handle. Also I don’t use on my cheeks, as they are too sensitive. I don’t try to take the skin off, only the hair. Some skin will come off but any pressure and it’s irritating. It helps so much for eyebrow shaping, and is fast and good for traveling. Hygiene is key
Could you do a video on nose hair removal? What's the best way? Tweezing?
I've been doing it every month for two or three years.❤❤ My face doesn't break out and usually before shaving after I wash my face I put some oil or vaseline to not irrittate my skin.
thumbs up this vid of you like skincare content Angels 🩷✨
Can you make a video about why your face is diferent
@@victoriarocha1709lmao!
I NEEDED THIS VIDEO TY TY TY TY TY
Don't do it! so many girls regret it after doing it because they get massive pimples and acne after
@@spyroluver0951 oh okay tysm for letting me know!!! i will not do it🥰 i have super sensitive skin anyway so ty!!!
I started doing this 10 years ago, the shaving. It made my face HAIRIER in the long run.
maybe you do this unintentionally but all your videos work as asmr for me so i always watch them hahah
can you do a video on color analysis (Fall, Spring, Summer, Winter) to find which colors suit different skin types best?
I would love this too!
She has an older video on colour theory that nails it
@@sheridansometimes oh thank you!
Is it possible for you to do an "update" of your Jeans video? The one where you gave solid advice on how to pick the correct jeans. I thought it was great but that was two years ago and perhaps a "jeans hauls" or something might be nice?
IVE BEEN WAAAAAAAAAAITING FOR THIS VIDEO
thank girlie
I think that those tiny hair and even some of that deadskin is there for a reason, its uglier than fresh skin BUT protects you superficially from the sun and cold wind somehow and maybe from some toxic dirt to get deeper in! I prefer to exfoliate only with lactic acid once a week and never in the summer, because its one of the most gentle acid and leaves my skin super soft and hydrated :) and i use the cleanser from cerave with a bit of bha for pimples that ofc i rinse out so its not too agressive. I feel like exfoliation could damage the skin if you overdo it honestly, but i might be wrong who knows.
Yess i love this technique. skin looks flawless after doing this 🤍
just did this last night and it makes such a noticeable difference on my skin .
Something i do is as soon as i buy my skincare products, i disinfect the packaging with alcohol or i wash it with soap and water (if the packaging is able to be washed) and i keep it in a sanitary skincare organiser type of box that has a lid. Also everyone should be disinfecting their phone daily. I do it when i come home from being outside (work, running errands, etc)
Can I shave the sideburns without them growing back thicker?
I always get tiny bumps on my skin every time I shave my face! And those bumps literal take months to go away, any solution?
no matter how sharp the blade is i start getting rough new growns within hoursss and the texture is horrible like one day shaved leg :" is there a solution to that ?
Without any lubricant?
Love doing this at home. I use an actual razor in the shower. Get the baby butt feel with a 2 blade only. The others don’t do it much for me
why did she get a nose job? like i’ve had one but it suits my face. Her upturned nose does not suit her face, and she now has a hump so I don’t understand why she wouldn’t go to a skilled surgeon
Girl you’re so pretty
she was before ruining her face
@@seorin__ how did she ruin her face?
@@Mari14Bella looks at her old videos.
Looks weird now. Like Michael Jackson
how much time do i have to wait before applying makeup again?
What was in the cleaning solution? My razor always ends up rusting so soon
Rubbing alcohol :) since it dries quick and helps clean oil
i always make sure to dry my razors completely before storing! it keeps them sharp for longer as well
Did she get a nose job? 😢
And this looks very odd and strange:/
just did this today following all your steps and girl my face feels amazingggg!!!
My adhd ass loved that intro, I skip the first twenty seconds on everything
I really want to try this but too scared to have dark and thick hair on my face. Thank you 😊 anyway
Don't do it! so many girls regret it after doing it because they get massive pimples and acne after
Your hair won’t actually get darker and you won’t break out if you do it cleanly and correctly. I’m prone to breakouts and have thick black hair and I dermaplane with no issue. It’s amazing for my skin appearance and helps with applying makeup
Uncanny😳
Are you doing that to dry skin? I saw someone else recommend that you use a natural skin oil for slip.
I am! You *can* use a gel cleanser (I can recommend because I’ve done this before) I would be hesitant to suggest oil though I see it done often online ✨
the benefit of dermplaning dry is you can ensure you’ve taken a clean layer off your skin and not left any patches 💗 this is the method they will also use in-salon/dermatologist office.
I hope this helps!
@@AlexandrasGirlyTalkThanks for taking the time to make this video and also reply to comments, I've had so many questions about this and now all of them have been answered. Thank you🙏
@@AlexandrasGirlyTalk thank you
What nobody tells you is that the peach fuzz on your face actually diffuses the light on your face and gives your face a very soft subtle glow. Also for the brown girls, I would recommend you not to actually do this to your face because it leads to a lot of breakout and your hair grows back in a very different kind of way. I am a brown person. I have had a lot of friends who have done this and it was not good. They Regret doing it.
I think it depends girlie- like I’m brown too and I have SENSITIVE SENSITIVE skin and tons of hyperpigmentation, but dermaplaning has done nothing but like enhance my skin (providing my skin prep b4 + after is good). I think scientifically speaking it’s brown girl friendly providing u follow up with soothing ingredients and make sure the razor is squeaky squeaky clean
As a licensed esthetician, this is not dermaplaning. I recommend everyone to get it done with a licensed professional..
hiii just curious if this is good for my skin or even damaging ?
i’ve done this for years lmfao i didn’t know this is what it’s called
I use an oil to create a glide…is that wrong?
No, it’s not! Especially if you cleanse it off after + apply your regular skincare. Ensure it’s non-comedogenic oil 🩷✨
DID YOU DO THIS ON DRY SKIN WITH NOTHING ON IT
Yes ☺️ as unusual as it feels it helps me ensure I remove all the fuzz and hair. You can use a gel cleanser over already-clean skin for slip if you prefer, but you run a risk of missing a spot/uneven exfoliation
To prevent breakouts this dry method is what I reccomend ✨🩷
@@AlexandrasGirlyTalk thanks mommy

You’re so beautiful
Good morning beautiful lady, I admire you, for years I’m being watching your videos, love all your content, I remember those days with your curly hair. I miss those curls you are so gorgeous. God bless you 🤩😇🌸✨💕
How often do you do it?
Once every two weeks ☺️🩷
I have this done in office once a month and I do it at home once a month. I love the result!
It’s done on clean, dry skin for me.
Hair never grows back darker or coarser because vellus hair cannot do that - as Alex explained.
I don’t experience ingrown hairs or breakouts from this - but everyone is different.
How many times can you use the razor before throwing it away
It depends on the razor you have, some brands hold up for more uses than others:
- if it seems dull
- if it irritated your skin when you went to start your treatment
these are signs it’s time to replace it with a new one - generally (cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and storing it dry) I can reuse them 4 times before replacing 🩷
@AlexandrasGirlyTalk that's great thanks !
@AlexandrasGirlyTalk Are you Puerto Rican? What's your ethnicity? I found a model that looks like you (Ana Delia de Iturrondo form Puerto Rico) I wonder if you come from the same place.
Hey elder sister I always wanted❤
I don't recommend this my peach fuzz got longer and I got some black hairs in my chin
It's ironic but makeup doesn't seem to stay on my face as well without the hair.
I would additionally recommend using an oil, balm, or some kind of lubricant on the skin to provide that slip to prevent dryness and possible cuts or skin damage
Noooooo!!! Salon Professionals are expensive because there is an investment in training, knowledge and expertise!!! You are doing it the wrong direction… skin must be hold taught…. 😢😢😢
Yea i ruined my skin for a while after doing this😅
If I follow every single beauty recommendation she shares, I would not recognize myself
Botched
while this is going to help the way your make up looks, it is NOT dermaplaning. its just shaving ur face hair and scraping off dead skin

Girl the treatment costs a lot because they’re trained professionals using specialized tools who wont fuck your skin up… a dermatome is not the same as a little face shaver no matter what company tries to sell it out. A plastic surgeon, dermatologist or cosmetologist should be the only one peeling layers off your skin off.
Exactly. Those single (or very low number) use razors aren't made for derma planning in the first place. They've been sold for more than 20 years in Asia to be a quick way to shape the brow therefore being used on a very small area of skin.
DON'T DERMA SHAVE as it will blow up your acne if you have good skin or not. You need the little hairs on your skin to protect your face
Not true for everyone, but I would say testing it first is better.
Still better than plucking those darks hairs and them multiplying 🤷♀️
If you do it properly, you won't break out. If you don't wanna test those odds, just don't do it as you said xD
So true and it looks weird when your whole face is so shiny. Also some people have visible hair on like the forehead, neck and body and if the face is 'naked' from shaving it all off it looks weird when someone notices that it is imoossible that just your face is naked and also the up keep is difficult if you are so hairy like I mentioned
Don’t do it over breakouts but otherwise it’s fine
You look good in light make up but this eyebrow need to grow, it doesn't suit your face.
Not to be mean but she looks scary
Why? Hair is normal, why are we becoming so obsessed with body hair even on our face?
Don't do it! so many girls regret it after doing it because they get massive pimples and acne after. This is a terrible trend!
After doing it for a few years that’s why I made this :) all the prep included in the tutorial is necessary to avoid a breakout (or cut!)
I do this and it makes my skin look and feel so much better. Everyone is different. It may not be for everyone, but it works wonders for me. Knowing how to properly do it and prepping is so important.
It's so unsustainable and bad for the environment to keep using single use objects. There are other sustainable ways to achieve this....
Complaining about this within twenty seconds of the video coming out is petty af, as is your concern.
If you use the same one more than once you will give yourself a bacterial infection and acne. And no one is going to a spa to spend $100 on this with a metal one so take a seat and mind your business.
I use these because it is what I can afford, do you have any suggestions? Since you know other sustainable ways
Y’all please see your doctor or dermatologist before you experiment on your face. I understand not everyone has the means to do this but be as safe as you can. Shaving layers off your skin can cause serious damage if you don’t asses yourself first and take measure to keep your skin safe afterwards.
Get your head out your butt and realise that nothing will change just because you and me quit most Single use products.
