What a nice surprise! Great to hear you again! Still running my GrapheneOS on my 6A. I really like the fact I was able to further strip it down and walk around without a ton of apps I NEVER used in the first place.
Android 14 had this, except it was called "work profile" and it required a third party app to set it up. Also it could only be done in the phone's owner profile. I'm curious if those new private spaces can be done in a second user on the phone.
Good to know! I’ve never used work profile. Private Space can only be set up in the main profile, I just looked in a secondary profile and option is not there.
@@ThePrivacyWayfinderThen this Private Space is probably just an implementation/use of work profile. Instead of the user having to set it up like with the use of Shelter app. Right? Because there's no work profile on new(non-owner) user profiles
hi! thanks for sharing) but the ending thoughts were not enough for me. i played with private space a bit, but couldn't find how to install apps aside from accrescent, so i have no clue how to use different vpn for selected apps. also i think it would be very usefull for some people if uncover the topic of using play services in private space. some of us who has to use whatsapp for work, may finally get rid of second profile. how good is isolation compared to ising separate profiles?
I can definitely do another deep dive video on installing apps. In short, you can use vanadium to install FDroid or any other App Store, the. Download apps with that App Store. You bring up a good question about app isolation from the personal space apps. I don’t know the answer but I’m hoping someone else can answer or maybe GrapheneOS will update their website soon with more detail around Private Space app isolation. If you want to use Play Store and WhatsApp, you could probably install Sandbox Google Play Services/Store from the GrapheneOS App Store, then download WhatsApp from the Play Store. Then you can have WhatsApp running during work hours, and lock the Private Space once works hours are done and be separated from work. Again though, not sure on the implications of running Play Services in the main profile private space and if there’s good isolation as if you were using a secondary profile. We’ll see once more documentation comes out.
thanks for answering. i found "Private Space on Android 15 GrapheneOS" topic on the official discussion forum (can't include a link, so copy+paste what's in quotation marks), it is very useful. at this time it seems that private space isolation is as good as secondary user profile. wish you good day and happy to hear from you again. the more guides u do the smaryer we are
Sorry if i missed this But does the data stays separate? Like lets say i want to use some of the big brother apps for work. Like instagram and linkedin, would their tracking stay offguard from the main phone?
Can any one confirm that, this rom have VPN share via hotspot because every custom rom have it so . I need confirmation. It's there in hotspot settings like allow users to access VPN.
That is supposedly upcoming. There was a context menu function for long pressing to install to the private space, but it was removed since it doesn't work yet.
Have Graphene os installed on my pixel 8 with 2 separate accounts. On my owner account I receive call's and SMS and on my second account which I have to log out of 1 to go to another I have Google maps. My boss sent me an address go to so I switched accounts and go to Google maps and start entering the address. As I enter the street number the address that my boss sent me it automatically came up on Google maps, how is this possible? What settings do I need to change?
Yes backup process help - much appreciated. I enjoy your videos and hope you are back a lot!

I'm not sure I understand what the benefit of the private space is beyond separate profiles. It seems like it's just another profile.
The GrapheneOS team tweeted out that private space has better OS integration and better isolation
Definitely not better isolation

A video on your backup process would be really interesting; there are a thousand ways doing that and I'll always try to get fresh ideas!
I don't think I'll ever use this feature but good to know it's there

What's the usecase of this feature? What's the typical use scenario?
Thanks man!
Backup process please
Nice feature but not available to me in a secondary profile though. Not sure why.
This is only a feature available on the main profile.
Yes sir the backup process!!

It's there in hotspot settings like allow users to access VPN.
Can we send an app from the public into the private space? Instead of installing over again.....
Unlike sending apps from the main profile to a secondary profile, I did not see any option to send apps to the private space.
That is supposedly upcoming. There was a context menu function for long pressing to install to the private space, but it was removed since it doesn't work yet.
It would be awesome if you could change icons and app names on this OS.
I think you could do that with launchers (?)
any possibility for realme 10 pro plus?
does whatsappp works in thie versimn
version
Isn't it just like work profile
