Been bad at getting videos out so here's a 2 for 1. We're still busy and this week is forecasted to be the hottest week of the year so far in San Diego
Hi, I live in Philadelphia. We manage dozens of properties. In MHO 95% of flat roofers will just try to sell a new roof as they cannot pay the bills on repairs alone. The Plumbers license is monopolized along with the city have many nonsensical codes. No plumber can pay the overhead without bigger "water and sewer" line jobs. HVAC techs are hard to find. Most are inexperienced which leads them to being a part changer only. In short, we avoid any business advertised on radio, tv, google, billboards, flyers, Angxxx list etc. Most all trades want retail prices. I presume operating costs of 5K a month to run a truck and tech? Most companies wind up grouping customers deposits and paying expenses before purchasing your equipment . They already spent the profit before starting your job.
My repair prices are not that high but they are high enough for me to make a living in San Diego if all I did was repairs. That’s including our vehicles, paying all bills, paying rent at our location, and paying ourselves. Some people think our prices are high but it is definitely expensive to own/run a business. Much more than I thought it would be. We cannot make money if we run around all day and only charge $100 for coming out. We cannot make money doing “free estimates” on repairs. That’s what people seem to want more than ever in San Diego and then they wonder why the companies in their home send unqualified individuals or why they are getting scammed. It’s realll a sad reality but I don’t see a great outlook on the in home service trades in general and I’m trying to get into more commercial and less residential mostly because businesses tend to be more okay with paying what it takes to get things done
First one dude was trying to scam them. Second one was just incompetence. I know those stupid time delay boards would throw me for a loop when I first started
I agree with you but I'm still a little suspicious cause the property manager said their diagnosis was low charge and that it was not worth fixing. Not sure how they would've got there with those pressures but oh well
Your giving the 2nd guy too much credit. Takes 1 second to push in the contactor and verify compressor works or not. I do agree tons of systems are diagnosed bad by honest yet untrained techs. These techs make the big box companies a ton of money. But the tech is generally just honest but dumb. I suspect this is by design....Today both of these guys were crooks. Good job, this will earn you that customer... or not. Gotta throw darts to hit the board.
I am going on a second opinion this coming Thursday. It is a through the wall condenser and it keeps icing up. The first guy that went there added refrigerant and the second guy that went there replaced a capacitor. Not sure what I’m going to run into, probably an intermittent blower problem. I think that they just don’t have the experience.
It was funny I knew what company the first guy had out after speaking with him and then I am pretty sure I saw the guy leaving the area and he was pushing twice my age so unless he got into it very late he probably has experience. The guy called us because he thought the guy was scamming him. I don't know why these people don't leave bad reviews in some instances. Company has TONS of good reviews online and I just keep fixing their shit
The property manager has been using that company for 7 years but he has used at at three of his properties in the past couple months, twice working directly behind them. Trying to help him see the light

@@SurfBrosHVAC I see it all the time. I hate it because it brings our whole industry down.
Hey bros 😊
Do any of these customers that were scammed ever give that company a bad review.
I wish
Second one was a scam too
That was my thought. That would be like my engine doesn't crank so the cooling system must be empty.
