Boy George the lead singer of Culture club was the first openly gay pop star in the UK and is a National treasure - loved and respected throughout the UK. One talented, big hearted, funny man, who has faced drug addiction and prejudice like a warrior. Thanks for the video + good reaction Luv.
I don't think he was the first openly gay popstar. In fact he was closeted to the public for a few years and avoided questions about his sexuality. He came out in the late 80's .Jimmy Sommerville with Bronski Beat were openly singing about being gay. National treasure is debatable. Why would anyone think that of him after he handcuffed, beat and imprisoned a male escort at his home?
whaaaaat i just noticed they are in black face and i grew up in this era one of my first albums i never noticed the black face shows u how powerful boy george we all concentrated on him cuz he was soook different and amazing wooow boy g i gottta look this up now
The song is really about Jon Moss who's the drummer of the group. Boy George and Jon were more than band mates. In fact they were lovers. Boy George is basically singing about how Jon was hurting him emotionally, and denying they were in a relationship.
@@lordmaul3 what?! No😭 George has literally said it was about Kirk Brandon (his ex lover) and even if you don’t believe that, the timeline wouldn’t add up between him and Jon because they weren’t even together at the time the composition.
You're energy is marvelous and you look&feel stunning. Culture club music is a mixmash of styles. All representing different genres into one unique sound This song touches me it's like when you see an old flame and try to rekindle what's lost and at the same makes blush&cry. Love is for all and it's free💥💥💥💥
Think of the balls it took for Boy George to go with that look in the 80's. It was brave. I mean it's hard to even imagine record labels accepting him and this song so long ago. I'm not even some superfan but ya gotta respect him, that was like 40 years ago! I never really thought about it until now.
He was succesful, because he's got talent, not because he is gay. In the 80's the people who were different, unusual and talented were the ones the record labels were looking for.
He is in court for offending public decency. Homosexuality was a crime until the late 1960's. If somebody had gone around looking like him in those eras they would have been beaten badly & then locked up.
I loved me some Boy George and his makeup was gorgeous. I always said that he could teach some of these women how to apply makeup. He's a real cutie. He had that soft voice and his little dance moves. He was bold and free. You can't help but like him. 🤗💖 I could be wrong but he was the only man that came out with makeup on like a woman. At least that I remember, not counting Little Richard.

he also was the youngest made his own money millionaire in UK history

Dude has a great voice, real soulful,
I remember seeing Culture Club in concert in the 80s as a teen. Boy George is the best!! The concert was so good.
And the world enjoyed him back in the day.

Me too. Never noticed that in the video before. Have no idea what that was supposed to represent.
Black face in Europe was an element of vaudeville shows, it does not have the same weight as in the USA.
I rewound and still can't tell. Funny, whatever you say now you're called homophobic but I grew up listening to this a lot.
Black people on blackfaces.

he said the song wasn´t about jon moss . it was made for his former lover...another singer...find the movie worried about the boy...
This song wasn’t about Jon Moss.
@@daejmthomason236 That's your opinion!

@@daejmthomason236 Yo bozo I'm not going to argue with you about this. You can think or believe whatever you want. I don't care!
A classic from the 80's

A nice reaction and very well explained.
He is in court for offending public decency. Homosexuality was a crime until the late 1960's. If somebody had gone around looking like him in those eras they would have been beaten badly & then locked up.
Unfortunately a lot of times they would have been killed and the crime covered up by the authorities
I'd love to see you react to their song Time. Culture Club was phenomenal on every level.
Wow 🥰 boy do I love Boy George 😍❤️❤️❤️
Love you vibe!!!

Boy George was in court for being himself.
The bass line is top tier.
You got to listen to Time Clock if the Heart by Culture Club next.
My jam!
Great review!
I was 9, it sounded good. He could wear make-up all day long. And still does.
why do you wondering about any second you are listening? unbelievable
Back in his day, he did get a lot of negativity because of his look and because he was gay.....bLoved him then and still do
Fun fact. That's not Mikey Craig in the video. It's his brother.
