    Very informative. Been cleaning my records wrong for 25 years.

    FYI, electronic candle lighters worked as well as a zero stat. And you can get two of them for 20 bucks. I've been using them for over a year and they absolutely wipe out static.

      I don't get it. Why would electric candle lighters replace a zerostat?

    • @ReasonablySane
      @ReasonablySane Год назад +3

      @@austinhunt4260 because they wipe out static, and they're a lot cheaper, and they are a lot easier to use.

      @@ReasonablySane sounds pretty insane, but since you're not, i think I'll get one.

      @@austinhunt4260 yep. That's how I saw it too. I figured that if it didn't work at least I had a cool lighter. I give every record a couple of circular swipes with one now before I play it. I can't tell you how much I've grabbed a record and felt the hair standing up on my arm and after shooting it with that the static was just playing gone.

    Please note that you must remove the neon bulb from the output of your milty zero-stat to actually expose your record to a charge to remove static. The neon bulb helps you see if the zerostat gun is working (the bulb blinks due to high voltage discharge through the neon if the gun can generate high voltage... if it can't... no blink).

    I like the spindle screw you have on your record cleaning machine. I have an Okki Nokki. Is the one that covers the label universal ?

    how does one clean the 'groovewasher' microfiber pad? how often would you recommended doing so?

    • @soundmatters
      @soundmatters  7 месяцев назад

      Hey, thanks for your question. You can use a little bit of the G2 cleaning fluid and a clean microfibre cloth regularly, but every so often it’s good to detach the Velcro pad and use distilled water and a little bit of dish soap to deep clean. the pad make sure you thoroughly rinse it with distilled water afterwards and allow it to air dry. I hope this helps any further questions do let me know.

    A few good microfiber cloths
    A magic eraser
    A tooth pick
    A 50c spray bottle
    The mildest dish soap and rinse aid

      A magic eraser?!? Are you trying to sand off your grooves?

      Cut a 1cm piece of it and stick it on the end of a toothpick, clean your stylus with it.

    You shouldn't have repeated fingerprints if you handle an lp by the edges and label.

      Still applicable, but you’ll likely have duty to pay. Juno records stock some GrooveWasher in the U.K. though - hope this helps!
