Hello Sir. Just also wanted to say that Tisas doesn't use any mim parts on there 1911 or 2011. For 750.00 I think that is better than 1400. For mim parts.
Got my DS 9 about 5 weeks ago. Only been able to get in 2 short range trips and about 100 rounds. Put a Holoson 507 on it, and could not be happier with the piece or the optic. Only stoppages have been 3 or 4 failures to chamber, which I'm chalking up to pre-breakin on a new gun. I look at some of the "2011's," hearing they are, "Just updated 1911's." Baloney. 1911-ish, maybe. I've got 65 years of muscle memory invested in 1911's, and the Tisas piece is a real 1911!
Waiting on mine to arrive. Best choice hands down in the current 2011 market. A fourth of the cost.of a base staccato, half the price of the prodigy and minimal work needed so you end up with damn near staccato if not equal to, possibly better. Seen way too many people getting the tisas ds & doing minimal upgrades & end up with a weapon that at least rivals the staccato. I believe tisas hit a home run on this one. The dealer I went through said they can't keep em in stock because as soon as people see & handle em, they're sold because the price is just unbelievable for a base 2011, unlike staccato is 2600 for comparable base pistol. Btw, right now psa is selling em for 599.99.
If the rail/dust cover was longer, it had a bull barrel, and had an optics plate system that allowed you to mount optics that were actually good, this would be probably the best budget/entry-level 2011-style pistol. It would also probably be around 900 bucks with those additions/changes, in which case I would recommend to shop around for a used Prodigy or see if you can find a deal on a new one because they're only like 400-500 bucks more.
Great video enjoyed the insight. Only thing I can actually say in relation to this is that, when I went to the gun store about 3 weeks ago to talk with them, and get suggestions on a first gun. One of the guns they showed me was a Tisas 1911. 450 bucks. Obviously I'm new and never shot a 1911, but the gun itself felt solid in the hand. Didn't really know what double stack 1911's were until after that now Im kind of curious to hold a couple just to see how they feel. But a normal 1911 for me would be more than sufficient. But I can imagine this one doing well for a lot of folks.
Haven’t shot it, but I handled both recently at a gun store and I will say I preferred the The slide release on this handgun because it was actually something I could use for the other one was too stiff and too far forward actually use my thumb.
If you think that budget is a great double stacked 1911, you should try the MAC 2011 made by tisas. I was never a 2011 guy, but this option got me into buying one for just under a 1,000 dollar price point. The MAC 2011 is a great budget option for people to have a dependable 2011 under the heavy price point. Hope you have a chance to possibly look at the gun. Keep up the great content!!!
I just picked up their polymer gun, the px9. Looks good, shoots great, has a threaded barrel, decent sights... $300. My only complaint is the grip. It's slick like there isn't enough texture on the grip. Other than that love it.
I just bought a Tisas stainless 4.25 inch .45 and it's fantastic, a keeper. But as an old guy, I think double-stack 9mm 2011s are today's version of go-go boots and mini-skirts from the 1960's-fine for now, eventually a forgotten trend.
B9R Duty going to put a W/C full guide rod in it and S/F 300 light on it and a Cat Pro Dot got the firearm on a one day sale for 629. So into a complete 2011 that runs just for under a 1000
Agreed. I have a PX-9 gen-3 as my nightstand pistol - 20-rd capacity, flared mag well, RMR cut, multiple swappable grip panels… paid less than $300 shipped and transferred. It bangs, shoots soft and reliably. Glock sights and Sig-P226 magazines. Love it! Tisas is putting out great stuff for the money.
great price, but you pay for what you get. You can easily see that very little work went into the slide and even fitment between slide and frame. No bull barrel, looks like a standard barrel bushing set up. Will still get the job done well, great value. The Bul Commander M-5 is also a great contender for a budget 2011.
Alright.... No MiM or Cast... Glock Dovetail rear sight, RMSc cut (no plates for this model), Tisas Cut front. Takes most 70's series parts in the top end. Compatible with Gen1/2 STI modules with some fitting. Fits in most Prodigy/2011 Hoslters of comperable barrel length.
I sense a little shade in this review. But the gun was just too good and overcame it. This gun really makes you question the price point of those other guns. Maybe this gun proves that those other guns are little overpriced. LMAO
You should totally review one of the tisas PX9 models. They have a full sized and a compact model that I love. Been almost perfectly reliable (aside from a few stovepipes on low powered reload ammo but that was giving all my stuff the same issue so I’ll put that down to the ammo) I’d love to see what you think on them!
Being honest, I have an STI 1911 in 45, and other 1911 in 45, but also have a Tisas 1911 in 9mm single stack. Anytime I reach for a 1911 that I enjoy shooting its the Tisas, and not just since its 9mm vs 45. The Tisas has a rail and I put a light on it. The features are nice, the fitment is really good, finish is nice. Its just an enjoyable 1911 for me. Its accurate and easy to shoot and easy on the eyes. And the cost was around $400
I have several Tisas including this one. All forged frames, slides and barrels. Obviously not on this model for the frame but not one MIM piece on their 1911/2011s. They shoot excellent and have great fit and finish.
This seems to be more of a gun that a person diving into 1911s in general could buy first. Get the upgrades of 9mm in a double stack for same price as a lot of single stack 1911s
My favorite pistol is the single action 45 long Colt. (An elegant weapon from a more civilized age). The Python is a step up. The1911 got leap frogged by Glock.
Any .45 Colt is a good gun, but revolvers don't bring the same things to the table that a semi-auto can. That said, shot placement is king: shot placement takes precedence over caliber, gun type, and sometimes even ammo type.

I’m so envy and jealous of Colon when he talks about guns I only wish I was spoiled as this man 😂🤣😅
Great video enjoyed the insight.
Love mine. Wanted to try it out see what the hype was with these 2011/1911ds guns. Still prefer a good old Sig P226
Haven’t shot it, but I handled both recently at a gun store and I will say I preferred the The slide release on this handgun because it was actually something I could use for the other one was too stiff and too far forward actually use my thumb.
Look how Turkey is actually expanding their arms industry not only for their own needs but for export .
I'd be concerned about their metallurgy.
@@jb7483Turkish handguns have proven to be pretty good over the years. And considering Tisas forges everything, I’m not too terribly concerned.
@@jb7483what is the basis of your concern? If you have had previous Turkish firearms that have failed in this respect, it would be nice to know.
Isn't Canik a Turkish comapny
@@texmex8220 Yes
Tisas 1911s are top knotch for the price point. Nothing cast on mine. All machined and as tight as any other 1911s I have or owned before.
It's perfect. I want a DS 1911 so bad
Turkish guns are killing it!
I just picked up their polymer gun, the px9. Looks good, shoots great, has a threaded barrel, decent sights... $300. My only complaint is the grip. It's slick like there isn't enough texture on the grip. Other than that love it.
Thanks for the review
I just bought a Tisas stainless 4.25 inch .45 and it's fantastic, a keeper. But as an old guy, I think double-stack 9mm 2011s are today's version of go-go boots and mini-skirts from the 1960's-fine for now, eventually a forgotten trend.
52 here. I see it as the future of the design.
A new gun is a new gun is a new gun. Just enjoy getting a new gun!
Another great video by the master of weapons -
The only 2011 I want is a staccato In my local gunshop and I want it out of spite I didn’t want one till the gunshop worker challenged me
To a duel? Yikes!
Looks like the gun shop has a good salesman😂
I rented a Staccato at my local range and regretted it cause now I've never wanted a pistol so badly it was a awesome experience.
B9R Duty going to put a W/C full guide rod in it and S/F 300 light on it and a Cat Pro Dot got the firearm on a one day sale for 629. So into a complete 2011 that runs just for under a 1000
I know I enjoy my Tisas 1911! I haven't gone and tested every brand out there, but, as you said, she runs though!
Gonna need a double stack now though.
The MAC has the bull barrel for like $150 more, and you can add an RMR
im thinking of picking one up this year
I heard they might remake it and call it "return of the Mac"🎶
Awesomeness bro always love your videos!
The Mac 9 ds 1911 is another option and is around 1k. Has some upgrades compared to the normal tisas 1911 ds.
Thank you for the review!
Love it bro!!
Now this is a video I’ve been waiting for since I wanna get into the 2011 type firearm!
Tisas is the new Star and Llama, but better
WAY BETTER.
@@kellym3531 YEAH
Star PD was the shit in the early 90's.
great price, but you pay for what you get. You can easily see that very little work went into the slide and even fitment between slide and frame. No bull barrel, looks like a standard barrel bushing set up. Will still get the job done well, great value. The Bul Commander M-5 is also a great contender for a budget 2011.
I like it, but I have been looking at their Browning high power series, and they are very nice guns.
I’m just surprised to see a gun under $2000 on this channel
My rock island 1911-a2 is now called mullet and thank you.
Any possibility of checking out the stealth arms platypus? I hear the new design on the grip is nice. I'd love to hear Mr. Noir's take on it.
THANKS FOR THE REVIEW
Surprised canik hasn't got in on this yet.
I love the that Tisas is finally getting its due
Thank you for an open minded review. Greatly appreciate it.
I knew you would like the tisas .. budget 2011… very good review.I’m in Nc would love to hit the range with you 👍
Been eyeballing this
I was looking at this pistol hard, but I found a deal on their D10 model and went with that.
I sense a little shade in this review. But the gun was just too good and overcame it. This gun really makes you question the price point of those other guns. Maybe this gun proves that those other guns are little overpriced. LMAO
Sounds like a decent gun. Good review.
Throw on staccato flared magwell and a 407k 👌🏼
You should totally review one of the tisas PX9 models. They have a full sized and a compact model that I love. Been almost perfectly reliable (aside from a few stovepipes on low powered reload ammo but that was giving all my stuff the same issue so I’ll put that down to the ammo)
I’d love to see what you think on them!
Very informative as usual!
I have several Tisas including this one. All forged frames, slides and barrels. Obviously not on this model for the frame but not one MIM piece on their 1911/2011s. They shoot excellent and have great fit and finish.
Springfield can't say that.
@@tac_r_usoutdoors8984and targets and a downed threat don’t care about none of it 🤷🏾♂️
This seems to be more of a gun that a person diving into 1911s in general could buy first. Get the upgrades of 9mm in a double stack for same price as a lot of single stack 1911s
I need to see you review the Platypus Get it in the "Perry" color pattern for a funnier video
Thank you for sharing your research
I need this asap!
