  • Chef Dumi shows us how to prepare the South African Bobotie the authentic way. Dumi's recipe for original South African bobotie was used by KLM for economy class meals during KLM's South African Experience in spring 2009.

Love the grilling instead of oven. It must add a dimension of flavor otherwise missing. Can't wait to try it!

Might be differing viewpoints on its authenticity but it looks a great tasty dish and easily cooked in the outdoors - I will be giving it a try.

@Africanmagic123 Bobotie is a Cape Malay dish. Last time i checked the Cape was still part of Africa. Cultures are not stagnant but continuously evolve and interact . If you think pap is purely african reflect for a moment that maize comes from South America, not from Africa. Embrace diversity, dont lock yourself into some monocultural phantasy that doesn't exist in the real world. ...

@Africanmagic123 "Africa" is a vast continent comprising of many cultures, races customs and culinary delights. You would have to include Morroco, Egypt and so many more. The northern countries have never heard of any of the dishes you mention, and yet the are as African as you are. Babooti is a Cape Malay dish, and lie it or not, is considered by many to be one of our tradition dishes. So stop being so pedantic, and enjoy a double helping. Its hard not to like.
