I was invited to a corporate paintball day here in Oz many years ago. It was an accounting company I did some consulting for. They were definitely not the sporting types and we were up against what looked like a very hard core bunch of serious paintballers, all with their own guns, camo etc. However, we had an ex-special forces guy on our side and he coordinated our attacks and defence etc. We absolutely thrashed the other guys in every one of the 6 or so missions. We never told them and they were shocked! Taught me about the value of good strategy. 🙂
@@MrFuzziiWuzzii Indeed. However, it was an unintended consequence of me inviting a mate along, who had had nothing to do with the accountants prior (or since)!
Friend of mine was playing in Oz and had a pick up game with their friends versus these 5 random guys. My friend ended up shot between the gloves and the padding on the wrist and other 'weak points'. Turns out the other team were Army Reserves who met up on a free weekend to try paintballing.
It's pretty crazy the clear difference between the average Joe and someone with years of military experience. Like it's expected, but the level of difference is mind blowing.
Paintball very often is played kind of like it’s a game of COD. It’s individuals running and gunning for a laugh. If someone with even vaguely tactically minded can actually get their team to listen to them and act with any kind of unity it can get nasty very quickly lol
Honestly the biggest plot twist would be if you brought real SAS in your team and introduced them to your "friends" who are also SAS. And see the SAS's realize they are using similar tactics? this would be interesting to watch.
There's war journalists that go into the frey to capture the horrors of war, and then there's Max, who goes into the trenches to tell us how we can save time and money by using Adobe.
@@Deinobi adobe for home use is absolutely absurd and insanely expensive. But for business work it's actually really good. I did some online broadcasting for traditional sports & eSports, we switched from using a medley of programs for everything (davinchi, gimp, etc) over to adobe after they gave us a package deal. And man it's genuinely just a lot quicker and more efficient when you can just port shit right over program to program, instead of using like 8 different converters online. It also helped keep file sizing a bit better and was significantly quicker. That being said it fucking sucks to be stuck to one company, who really doesn't have any competition and be at their mercy for rate hikes. So yeah good and bad but genuinely a pretty solid use case for a good variety of things.
@@The_Dude_Rugsconsidering the only way they got him was to sacrifice on of their own, which would normally never happen in war unless you’re a terrorist then I’d say it’s pretty good. No way they’re doing that with death on the line
Reminds me of the time I brought my friend who was a veteran of US Special Forces who operated in 3 tours to an airsoft game. We won 38/40. The only 2 games we lost was when he was eating pizza and chatting with one of the referees. I wouldn't be surprised if he still holds the record for most kills at the arena
I got into airsoft right before my military service. Did nothing fancy, just normal mechanized infantry stuff. The difference before and after was freaking night and day. It felt like everyone else were moving slower and making more mistakes. I highly doubt they were, just my training allowed me to spot said mistakes while making very few myself. Now dial that up to 11 and that's probably the SAS experience.
I'm genuinely impressed by how consistent max fosh is at uploading very interesting, not over the top videos. He really deserves a bit more credit in my opinion.
Much like Tom Scott. It seems some youtubers, especially British ones, put their energy into making good videos and not just being energetic on screen. They aren't the same thing lol.
I mean you are never able to actually see how skilled they are due to absolute garbage shots and cuts. whats the point of this video if you gonna make it this bad?
They do it with Laser systems in training, even with all kinds of weapon systems too (Tanks with Lasers too for example, etc.) Would be cool to have a match like that though lol
That’d be super cool whether it’s air soft, paintball, lasers whatever that’s a really cool idea assuming it’s possible. They could even do a variety of objectives and game modes or a whole sport/mini tournament out of it I’d love to see that, hell I’d pay to see it.
I had this situation happen once and it turned out to be a blast of a day. US Army here, one of my guys birthday was coming up so his wife got in touch with me to get the guys to go painball for a day. I called the boys on my team and the 12 of us all met down at the local place. There were about 15 or 20 non military folks, regulars, there to have a good day. The staff put us up against any size group that wanted to have a go with us. The result was the same as your video, super fast and super one sided matches. Few hours later we broke for lunch and prepared to go home as it was starting to get really busy. Staff asked us to stay and we wouldn't have to pay for the rest of the day or supplies. Come to find out people were calling their friends to come down, the facility would have around 20 at any given time playing and at about 1pm there was around 60. Lost count of how many matches we ran, we were all exhausted come night time. Met a lot of great guys out there that day and had a blast all afternoon. Good on you, glad you all had a great day and met some awesome dudes from SAS.
@@ysf-d9i Short answer would be yes, you've listed important factors I don't work in army or any sort of enforcement so take my thoughts with grain of salt -The speed of decisionmaking and execution of it, as that's something that largely comes through sheer amount of practice in any area of life, whatever you're dealing with -Moving in determined and efficient matter, taking advantage of your environment and having good aim and reactions(reacting to visual stimulus once again improves as you practice more). -Teamwork, covering each other and doing what must be done for the overall goal, communicating effectively
I also had a similar experience. 🙃 I never played professionally, but I could have. I was so good, that I stopped wearing camo and started wearing khaki shorts and a white t-shirt, just to taunt and to add a handicap. Some, my friend thought it would be funny to pit me against some hard-ass military dudes. These guys were vicious, determined, and fully stocked. No fucks given. They would bring fireworks to flush you out. They never expected someone like me who could run through brush like a gazelle, pick up fireworks, and toss them back, to have an eagle's aim. Mind you, these dudes came in with extended barrels, uniforms, and top-of-the-line equipment. I had a cheap-ass Spyder from Walmart, and a Talen pump as a side arm. It was indeed a great day. 😈 But sadly, no one wanted to play with me again after that. Still worth it, though.
Max to SAS Soldiers: "I have to say the caps make you look hard as nails" Max's Friend: "Either a really tough man or just phenomenal at fishing..." Had me wheezing for a minute, well played
US/Nato soldiers play quite a lot of laser tag to train. They carry all their normal equipment, it's that that they have a laser pointer on their muzzle.
@@demochannel2986 And you know this how? I do not doubt Max's contacts. And at the end of the day.... Ex SAS are still people and probably like to go paintballing a time or two.
respect for the SAS men for not giving slack on fun challenge so (me included) people abroad realize how good these soldiers are. Obviously opponent team were not even pro paintballers but their vision and execution on that field was awesome. They see the gameground different.
I mean you are never able to actually see how skilled they are due to absolute garbage shots and cuts. whats the point of this video if you gonna make it this bad?
@MageAtYou noticed that too. You barely see any of them at all. Overhead shots fail to capture the whole field or show any of the progression of the match. What an awful editor.
I remember years ago my brother was playing paintball for his friend’s birthday. He desperately wanted his friend’s dad to join. Somehow in our years of knowing this family it never registered with my brother that the dad was a marine. He played. My brother was so flabbergasted at how good the dad was at it. It’s still one of my favorite memories, watching a former marine destroy my brother at paintball. A few years later they were playing air soft, I had the great joy of watching my brother get shot point blank by the same guy, and hearing my brother complain about it. Truly, it’s comic gold.
Heard story once about how for some kids birthday party they were playing laser tag outside. At some point they did one game where they took 4 dads who were war veterans and had them defend a bunker while all the kids attacked. And apparently kids got absolutely destroyed.
@@s.b1192 I think the SAS operative is wearing a boonie hat (that we can't see because of the sensor). Popular among both fishermen and the military.
RISK says odds are 3:1 This game it looked closer to 5:1 If you don't know their strategy ahead of time I think 10:1 can do it. 40 vs 4 you should be confident of winning with randos whose only certification is "graduated high school, some college, some RUclips" Might be able to bring it down to 25 : 5 in a relatively small arena with few possibilities. While a large area might seem better at first to not get chokepointed, since strategy is so important then you need the randos to have a chance to assess and analyze. Special Forces is going to optimally assess the terrain too quickly no matter the size of arena, so just giving the randos less to worry about helps focus their minds on concrete truths.
I used to play a game at night in a wooded area where we split into teams, one finding and one hiding and had to find and tackle all the opposite team. one of my friends dads was apparently in the SAS or some other special forces and he would come and play with us sometimes. He would do crazy stuff like drop from trees or out of places you'd never expect, we would have to all team up against him to get away or find him and even then we never won (admittedly we were from 13-15 years old but there was about 10 of us). To us he was practically a ghost able to move silently and appear from thin air and even though we knew that area like the back of our hands we didn't stand a chance of finding him if he didn't want to be found. It would be terrifying having to face someone like that in combat and he was around 50 at the time so can't imagine what a team of people like that in their prime are like.
Went paintballing for a friends birthday. We were a bunch of 12 year olds and there were 3 Canadian soldiers who were also there. They kicked our asses easily each time, but gave us tips after each round. Everyone had a great time. Having watched this, I'm pretty sure they were going easy on us.
I remember going at about 15 and there were a few kids who went every day and used small squad tactics effectively. Impressive to follow them and see how they worked.
Please don't compare the most elite fighting force in the world the SAS/SBS who trained Delta, the seals etc to some run-of-the-mill Canadian soldiers, who aren't known for anything.

Played paintball with my friends against my father once. That time I didn't know it yet but my dad was former Special Forces. Needless to say he alone destroyed us everytime. 30years after being a operator and he still made short work of us😂
I come from a 4th generation military family, mostly advanced infantry including special forces, one of my cousins husbands family might of forgot as they thought it would be a good Idea to arrange a family on family paint balling match at a birthday event. Lets just say it played out very similar to this, my cousin was laughing her ass off standing proud like a queen as her dad, brothers, uncles cousins, pops and great uncle just completely devastated the apposing family team who did not have any military experience amongst them (one of them was a fireman?), but they had played paint ball a few times though, lets just say beers was on them that evening. I think they just wanted to go up against some real soldiers, their education was very painfull.
You should have enlisted a local tournament paintball team to see the outcome. I started playing paintball in 1988, played tournaments for around 20 years, national sponsors etc. Played against the best of the best in the world from NPPL days to NXL. Over the years there's been many times we've had a group of military guys or a local swat team show up and they never did well lol Usually got upset. I'm not taking anything away from anyone military, much respect and thank you for your service! But paintball is nothing like the training they have. They train to stay alive at all costs. Paintball players just walk off the field and come back next game. We always aggressively overwhelmed them. A good paintball team knows how to sweet spot, take a few off the break and end a game in 15 seconds. Or make a bunker run to take out a key position, or 2 or 3 opponents knowing we will get shot, but leaving us in a 4 on 2 advantage. The moves we make in paintball usually come across as completely stupid to a military person and would get you killed in battle. It's just a different world. Paintball is a game for points, closer to a cross between basketball and chess than it is actual combat.
@@lollikabosso.w.n7153 Probably better than someone with zero training I'm sure. Paintball can somewhat build skills you could utilize in a 1v1 gunfight, communication, cover and concealment etc. But the military trains you to put fear aside and do a job at all costs that most civilians wouldn't understand. SF units are also trained in many things that just doesn't apply to paintball. Navigation, technology, first aid, mechanical repair, interrogation, psychology.... The skill set some SF units posses is amazing. These guys train constantly for all kinds of things that can be used on a battle field. Lot more to it that a 20 second small arms engagement.
@@quirkytitle172 Yes sir, if you're interested, here's a good video that really shows how paintball differs from actual combat. A "Bunker Run" is when you look and see an opposing player looking out the wrong side of his bunker. You run to the opposite side and shoot him out. If you're good at seeing the whole field, fast thinking and fast on your feet, sometimes you can take out multiple people on one run through before you get blasted by their back guys lol If someone is in a key bunker and you need them gone bad enough, it's worth it to "trade" or take a 1 on 1 elimination to get him out of there so one of your mid or back guys can then fill that key bunker. Paintball is all about angles. The further down field you go, the less room they have behind their bunker to hide. If you and one of your guys across the field advance forward you can "pinch them out" he can't hide from both of you. Both teams have a game plan for every move they make. If things go right, your plan works and not theirs lol You have to be able to react fast to everything that happens on the field and communication is key. I never played a tournament where i still have my voice the next day from screaming positions, screaming for cover fire, or letting my guys know someone was eliminated. It's like chess at 125 miles an hour ;) ruclips.net/video/nAFNAL1zVl0/видео.html

They "OVER practice" to the point it becomes muscle memory. It's scary. Those buildings in the desert where they practice entry of rooms and stuff is a work of art. Science too. But they push themselves to perfection.
The scariest shit though is how even for spec ops, you only need one 12-year old popping out with an AK-47 from an unexpected spot to do serious harm This applies to all special forces and militaries. All it takes is one oversight, one tiny error and bam.
@Viper607706 in an actual combat situation they'd probably be a lot more prepared and more aware but yeah, at the end of the day it only really takes one shot.

It also feels like some guys who play paintball regularly would stand a pretty fair chance. Military training is obviously invaluable. But does it really translate all the way. Say for example a speedball course VS a 5 man who plays together consistently. As paintball is a sport and game rather than true tactics of a combat scenario, I dunno just ranting
@@yeetandrepeat4251agreed. I think that military training would help, but the fact is, paintball is a sport. (Although I do think the training would help in a tactical paintball game). @@yeetandrepeat4251 95% (or more) of it doesn't translate. That's not really as massive percentage as it looks however, as the first 50% goes out of the window straight away (without having anything to do with combat). Tbh most special forces people aren't going to look particularly special or exciting. Too tall, too short, too muscly, too fat, too skinny; all disadvantages. And they're former sas so they were likely slimmer in their prime from all the walking and running you do to get in

As a US Army Retiree (No special forces, sorry), this cracked me up. I have friends in Ranger and SEAL teams, and we once went paintballing. Army rangers won, but it was down to the last man and a lucky shot. I myself once was the last man standing, and despite my Army sharpshooter badge, lost to the Navy SEAL. I used to go paintballing in NJ where the swat team also goes. I’ve been there a couple times and encountered them twice. They would clear the field/buildings FAST. I was able to pick them off in the woods with my flatline barrel from a distance but when it was close quarters and in buildings we had no chance haha. They could have protoss-deathballed them, (aka fire superiority tactics) it would be lossy and you would lose men.. But at least you'd get one or two 😂
And numerical superiority (6v4). Imo this also highlights how dangerous being in the special forces is. On any mission, it is always possible to be ambushed and face a numerically superior enemy and take casualties no matter how much training and equipment. Also highlights that close quarters combat is risky

Playing against highly trained soldiers is insane. Y'all should be proud you managed to get one. I played against a fireteam of rangers once and we didn't get them a single time in 16 rounds.
you should've done a game with the SAS (and you) having an el presidente handicap. It means if YOU (specifically you) get shot, your team loses, but your team has to kill the entire other team. You also can't be the furthest person forward, or the furthest back, meaning you need to be in the middle of all the fights
This is so good. It turns out you *might* be able to shoot an SAS soldier if you have 10 goes, larger numbers, and know their tactics in advance. 🤣 Never seen a vid from you before but this was a cracking start 🤣
Its why Special Forces go in as the last resort and only after meticulous, lenghty planning. If you're sieging a fortified location you only need one guy with one gun getting one lucky shot.
would have been good to see the SAS guys against a top paintballing team. See how much real life theatre of war tactics and experience goes against game specific skills.

There was a tactical lasertag place near me that I loved going to, the guns had the weight and layout of actual rifles, you had to use the scope to aim and it was headshots only. I once faced off against a team of police officers who were on the SWAT team. It was a surprisingly close match, mostly because their training assumed the people they faced would have some sense of self preservation so we would do intentional suicide charges just to try and catch them off guard.
Used to work at a laser tag place as my first job, one day we had a police department come in to play. I was high so it was kinda funny but they couldn’t tell or at least didn’t say anything if they somehow could tell but knowing the layout of the arena & playing all the time gave me a good advantage as they wanted me to play against them. It was a free for all & I was in the top 5 (can’t remember exactly what place I got) the only reason I did so well was bc I played all the time & knew the layout. It was a lotta fun bc they played better than anybody else I had ever played besides other coworkers & the team of laser tag players who competed in tournaments
We found an amazing camping spot lying down in their base and shooting through gaps in barriers at their recharge site. From outside their base it looked like no one was inside so we'd alternate from triggering their alarm to picking them off when they went to their reboot site. It was hilarious. I still remember these guys who covered their sensors so they were impossible to hit. Both cheap but funny tactics.
@@BenWeeks-ca At the place I went there were some stacked barrels in a hallway directly connecting to their respawn point (though you couldn’t see into the spawn area). I could put my head against the wall and look through the tiny gap between the wall and barrel to see when people were coming, then poke out and quickly snipe them. And because the barrels were stacked high enough I would alternate between standing and crouching so they never knew where my head sensor would be, giving me an edge even if they were waiting for me. One person could hold that hallway against their entire team, forcing them all to leave their spawn by one of two other exits instead. Eventually though an enemy would figure out how to circle around and hit me from behind, but it was tons of fun.
I played paintball with some soldiers when I lived on a military base in middle school. At one point I got separated from my unit and discovered the enemy approaching from the rear in order to flank my team. I ran so hard that by the time I got to my team, my legs couldn't work. One of the soldiers literally picked me up on his shoulders and carried me to cover. Good times, soldiers don't play.

I recommend everyone tries this in a trench-style paintball. It was crazy being on the defenders (we were given free paintball if we'd defend against the army) and seeing the heads popping up in the trenches slowly getting closer. 🙂

That's just great!
Were all those guys that were called in pitted against you guys?
Did you lose even a single round?
Why would it be one-sided? What are normal people lacking? Is it skill or physical prowess or strategy? Like the most important thing we're lacking
@@ysf-d9i Short answer would be yes, you've listed important factors
I don't work in army or any sort of enforcement so take my thoughts with grain of salt
-The speed of decisionmaking and execution of it, as that's something that largely comes through sheer amount of practice in any area of life, whatever you're dealing with
-Moving in determined and efficient matter, taking advantage of your environment and having good aim and reactions(reacting to visual stimulus once again improves as you practice more).
-Teamwork, covering each other and doing what must be done for the overall goal, communicating effectively
legendary time, nice!

Somehow in our years of knowing this family it never registered with my brother that the dad was a marine. He played. My brother was so flabbergasted at how good the dad was at it. the last one was class, basically you need like 100 regular people to take on a squad of 4 SAS and accomplish "break even"
And you need to know their strategy

This game it looked closer to 5:1
If you don't know their strategy ahead of time I think 10:1 can do it.
40 vs 4 you should be confident of winning with randos whose only certification is "graduated high school, some college, some RUclips"
Might be able to bring it down to 25 : 5 in a relatively small arena with few possibilities.

Now I wonder how paintball players would fair well in live combat
@@chrisrosenthal1210was great reading all of this thank you
@@quirkytitle172 Yes sir, if you're interested, here's a good video that really shows how paintball differs from actual combat. As a long time paintball player and a paintball ref of nearly 5 years I can truly say that I had a mini heart attack when I saw him take off his mask. I know that scene is probably staged and he didn't really do it mid game, but damn if I didn't just yell "PUT YOUR MASK DOWN" at my computer out of habit lol. great vid
But they were basically playing speed ball since there were no objectives except eliminating the enemy. What I'm trying to say is, good video, but I'd put my money on a speedball team any day.
@@yeetandrepeat4251 95% (or more) of it doesn't translate. My brother asked which were the SAS and I had to point it out to him it was the muscly guys, but he said they looked boring... I felt kind of bad that my immediate response was, "Ah, yeah; well... they're British."
Felt myself die a little inside when they accepted that immediately with an, "Oh, that makes sense."
Not sure if he noticed but... we're British too.

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie 😂
Tbh most special forces people aren't going to look particularly special or exciting. Too tall, too short, too muscly, too fat, too skinny; all disadvantages. And they're former sas so they were likely slimmer in their prime from all the walking and running you do to get in

As a US Army Retiree (No special forces, sorry), this cracked me up. I have friends in Ranger and SEAL teams, and we once went paintballing. Army rangers won, but it was down to the last man and a lucky shot. I myself once was the last man standing, and despite my Army sharpshooter badge, lost to the Navy SEAL.

Reminds me of the former child soldier who got adopted to the US and single-handedly absolutely destroyed his entire high school class at paintball. They were running around in the woods, he was tracking, putting down false tracks of his own, laying booby traps, sniping, ambushing.... cherry on top-- his classmates didn't know he was a former child soldier, they were just like "We're never playing paintball with him again".

I used to go paintballing in NJ where the swat team also goes. I’ve been there a couple times and encountered them twice. They would clear the field/buildings FAST. I was able to pick them off in the woods with my flatline barrel from a distance but when it was close quarters and in buildings we had no chance haha. Awesome time and a couple of great dudes who told us some pretty awesome stories. Haven’t been back there in 12 years. No one really does it anymore but I’ve still got all my gear in working order just incase I convince someone someday lol
It’s wild to me that it took someone switching teams and explaining their tactics to the enemy to even get 1 of them
They could have protoss-deathballed them, (aka fire superiority tactics) it would be lossy and you would lose men.. But at least you'd get one or two 😂
And only because they didn't change their tactics after he switched teams.
@@GundamReviver aiming is hard without lots of experience and training
And numerical superiority (6v4). Imo this also highlights how dangerous being in the special forces is. you should've done a game with the SAS (and you) having an el presidente handicap. It means if YOU (specifically you) get shot, your team loses, but your team has to kill the entire other team.
Massive respect and thanks to the SAS for their service. Absolute legends 💯
Now you have to create 2 separate paintball teams of special forces but not let each team know that the others are special forces

When my mates invited me to go paintballing with them several years ago with about a dozen other strangers, the instructors were calling "Mr. SAS" behind my back. I assume it was derogatory. Was never special forces, but was trained by the RAAF and the Australian Federal Police and worked four years as a mercenary/private security contractor. Regardless, I captured the flag, won last man standing and the free for all at the end where you continue shooting until your opponents call quits. Three out of four, so I suppose I got my own back.

The reason they split up into pairs would be to Frogleap. Frogleaping is a basic tactic for Infantry, Armour or whatever have you. One moves, the over covers. Basically if A is maunvering to get a better angle B shoots at the enemy not with the intention of hitting, but to stop them from being able to shoot at B.
It's actually leapfrogging, but yeah, you are generally right. It's about alternating between covering fire and movement.
It was very well portrayed in a game called "Full Spectrum Warrior". A pity that they don't make these kind of games anymore.
I have so much respect for these men and what they are doing for all of us in the western world. Thank you is indeed a poor word but it is all we can give you. THANKS ❤
Eventually though an enemy would figure out how to circle around and hit me from behind, but it was tons of fun.
well played!

For RUclipsrs, it was a game, but for the SAS, it's a kill or be killed situation.

Those teams seem really unfair, Max clearly had an advantage!
They were 5 vs 4 after all.

I recommend everyone tries this in a trench-style paintball. It was crazy being on the defenders (we were given free paintball if we'd defend against the army) and seeing the heads popping up in the trenches slowly getting closer. We did slightly better than this video, shooting one of them for every 3-4 of us, but it was really interesting to see the difference organization and teamwork make.
