I think we're gonna be cool, we'll find different ways to use that Arrange window once we get into it too. Being able to mute midi is a must though. Glad they're leaving Song mode. Gonna miss trying different drum programs on the same seq but I guess I can copy the midi to another track. If they could make a function to "Swap" different programs on the Same track then we're golden. Thanks for let them know Marlow.
I also want to work as you said - use track mutes, arrange sequences into a song and then export to arranger mode. Hopefully once we can do this, you'll do a video showing how. I'm not updating to 3.0 until then. I have too many ongoing projects and deadlines to start a whole new workflow
We definitely need more audio tracks available. It would be nice to create sequences and finally transfer them to the arranger and add or remove various "tastes". It would be nice to add some transitions, risers or reverse hi-hats to the arrangement, which would end when the next sequence enters, and this is much easier when we have it in an audio track, where the end of the sound is clearly visible. Since we can stream from disk, it is possible to increase the number of available audio tracks? Then even individual plug-in tracks could also be transferred to audio. I would also like the sequences in the arranger to be visualized as individual blocks, which, if necessary, could be polished by returning to the sequence from the arranger. The MPC screen is too small to create the entire song structure from scratch only in the arranger.
Good work, track mutes was worth complaining about. Even if the plan was to add it back, it still worth highlighting how important this feature is to the MPC workflow. It would be like removing clip launcher from Ableton. Anyways good update!

Great news. Yes your program workflow is like mine. I’m sure many of us share in that. @@mpcheadbeautiful! You think copying the color of a pad to the new pad as well. One less step. 🤷🏾♂️ I see more when they release the public beta. Thanks again.
That is what I’m thinking. The only reason I would continue using Ableton is because I can have a bunch of audio and midi tracks all armed at the same time. I don’t think you can do that with the MPC, but please correct me if I am wrong.

Different track mutes in different sequences are not possible any more. So doing a song by taking a sequence, copying the sequence muting/unmuting tracks, copy the sequence again and so on and finally building a song out of these sequences doesn´t work in the beta. So the whole fast workflow of 2.x is gone for me.
You know, the last video you did I was annoyed because it’s like this - being a long time NI user, and never getting updates (a logo!) Akai and NI are night and day. I got the love 2 in 2020 along side the maschine plus, and Akai has just constantly updated it, given us free plugins and have listened to us! While NI has done absolutely nothing. So hearing complaints about 3.0 was just annoying to me. But I agreed with you about track mutes, and Andy and Akai are just solid people for responding and listening to us.
What would make it even speedy to build an arrangement, would be if the clip grid functionality of the force was included in MPC 3.0. There could be a seperate overview screen of the 64 pad matrix. The pad bank selection buttons could select which of the 16 pads buttons you were currently using (imagine the 64 grid divided into 4 quadrants) or you could plug in a grid controller like the APC mini or APC64 controller.

Been hearing that’s a nightmare. I am just from the cloth, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I get Akai is trying to cater to new people, but we all had to learn the workflow environment, without being coddled. It’s a shame we are losing a lot of flow to make MPC “easy” for people who don’t want to actually work on their craft, but I guess that’s the way of the world. I, too, will be doing song mode/track mutes when 3 gets “fixed”, and then hitting arranger. Saves me from bouncing my songs into Ableton to finish arranging them. And again, thanks for all you’ve done for me since I picked up my LIVE in 2019. I’m over 1000 songs in… mostly because of song mode and track mutes 😅❤
Could you please check the custom midi note pad layout issue in V3 pretty please? In the Grid editor touching any of the Pad numbers assigned to the new midi note number on the screen no longer select those notes. It does so with standard layouts. Hitting the pad will select the custom midi notes though.
I trust Akai knows what’s up. This is just beta, not to mention 3.0. There will be so many updates going forward. These changes are a little jarring though I admit.
I have a question: is the standalone plugging Air Vocal Distortion NEW? I can’t find it in the Akai store and it only gives me the option for 10day trial on my MPC X SE. I found this plugging while installing the new Sub Factory.
@@mpchead signed up, but it is not available yet...this is something i wanted for the MPC 2 live as it is by now: - Able to use my 1010 Bluebox as an external audio interface...no connection possible for now. - The possibility to switch off the instant touch- feature - The ability to use mmc and timecode input WITH ableton link enabled
Question : will Clip launch still be included in MPC 3 ? I've been building an MPC standalone live set and I'm sad to see it was left out. I hoped they would actually improve it 😢
Marlow, have you experienced any difference in the speed of projects / effects etc. loading with 3.0 vs. 2.0, or any general bugginess? (After I loaded stems standalone, the MPC live 2 sometimes does not recognize my external drive, which is where I downloaded stems to.)
@@mpchead im just re-iterating what the community is saying about having only 1 PGM per track loaded. You can no longer switch/scroll through different PGMs on the same track, you have to go back into the browser and load the one you want. I really hope they re-consider this. Does that make more sense? :)
This MPC 3.0 software is a no to me...Akai still have not said if they will release a desk top version, yet it is not explained how you could incorporate MPC 3.0 into Logic Pro, Pro Tools, or any other DAW that is on the market. This whole idea is incomplete In my opinion. Akai shouldn't of released this beta version without any answers on a desk top version. Still a whole lot of questions to this update.. So I say for Akai to jump into an area that they have not defined as of yet is a big mistake, I like all the improvements Akai has made to the MPC Line....this right here is a bit much..
I think loopop (or maybe someone else) mentioned the possibility of routing midi tracks to the track which holds the program (as a workaround regarding the programs issue)
I think the new Arranger will serve its purpose after you've messed around with separate sequences and built a structure using song mode. It would have been nice of you could see the current song as a set of sequences too for sure (i.e. the ability to switch the Arranger view to showing the current sequence or the song). Who knows, maybe they will eventually update the Song window to be a bit more visual along the lines of the Arranger. But what would *really* make a difference is if they contained the resulting midi "clips" per track into blocks so you could drag them around on the timeline. So, rather than showing individual dots per note, draw a container box around each 4 bars or so and allow them to be dragged around. Basically copy Reason here too. 😊

And again, thanks for all you’ve done for me since I picked up my LIVE in 2019. I’m over 1000 songs in… mostly because of song mode and track mutes 😅❤
Hopefully they keep adding Legacy features. That'll help the transition into version 3
And computer mode? I guess the mpc can still behave as the midi controller for desktop projects, even when updated to v3?
Well done Marlow 👍🏾 what do you think about a 8 band graphic eq like in ableton or fabfilter? I do hope we will get one .
Could you please check the custom midi note pad layout issue in V3 pretty please? In the Grid editor touching any of the Pad numbers assigned to the new midi note number on the screen no longer select those notes. It does so with standard layouts. Hitting the pad will select the custom midi notes though.
I still don’t see the sequence track mutes!!!!!
Still not there, still waiting
I trust Akai knows what’s up. This is just beta, not to mention 3.0. There will be so many updates going forward. These changes are a little jarring though I admit.
I have a question: is the standalone plugging Air Vocal Distortion NEW? I can’t find it in the Akai store and it only gives me the option for 10day trial on my MPC X SE.
I found this plugging while installing the new Sub Factory.
I just hope they add "containers" to midi tracks so they can be treated more like audio in arrangement mode.
Akai force arrangement came out 4 years ago. People have been asking for midi regions since then.
Hey there, do you know any adress where i can send in feature requests?
I think you need to sign up for the beta
@@mpchead signed up, but it is not available yet...this is something i wanted for the MPC 2 live as it is by now:
- Able to use my 1010 Bluebox as an external audio interface...no connection possible for now.
- The possibility to switch off the instant touch- feature
- The ability to use mmc and timecode input WITH ableton link enabled
Question : will Clip launch still be included in MPC 3 ?
I've been building an MPC standalone live set and I'm sad to see it was left out.
I hoped they would actually improve it 😢
So we can't add Individual samples like we do on drum programs
Yes you can, it works just the same
@@mpchead
awesome
Marlow, have you experienced any difference in the speed of projects / effects etc. loading with 3.0 vs. 2.0, or any general bugginess? (After I loaded stems standalone, the MPC live 2 sometimes does not recognize my external drive, which is where I downloaded stems to.)
Instead of plugin tracks controlling programs, does the midi track now do that function, so you can have multiple midi tracks hitting one program?
I guess you can create a new midi track and send It to the track with the drum program
💪🏾😎
will the update be available as software too?
Not sure, akai hasn't said anything about that yet.
That's not coming until next year on computer. For now just stand alone.
@@mpchead cool thanks!
What about clip programs?
Nothing so far
Beta is going to glitch with the times ?
- I guess we got a glitch with the times~
😉 I’m not giving up on MPC Bruddah…
Inspired 💪🏽
MPC 3 “MIDI Regions” please!
programs not being switchable per track is a big loss for me. its simply going to slow me down having to go into the browser over and over again :(
I don't understand that comment or maybe there's something that you haven't understood about the update. Can you please elaborate?
@@mpchead im just re-iterating what the community is saying about having only 1 PGM per track loaded. You can no longer switch/scroll through different PGMs on the same track, you have to go back into the browser and load the one you want. The current (OS2) workflow thats always been there since the beginning is faster than having to go into the browser multiple times just to find the right kit because you cant load them all in first. I really hope they re-consider this. Does that make more sense? :)
If one wants to use a program twice, one press duplicated the track in 3.
🫡
Who makes that shirt?
I don’t know how else they’re gonna do this…maybe your Track (program) can store different “takes” and those would be like track mutes. Idk
Aren’t drum kits the same as programs?
Yes
This MPC 3.0 software is a no to me...Akai still have not said if they will release a desk top version, yet it is not explained how you could incorporate MPC 3.0 into Logic Pro, Pro Tools, or any other DAW that is on the market. This whole idea is incomplete In my opinion. Akai shouldn't of released this beta version without any answers on a desk top version. Still a whole lot of questions to this update.. So I say for Akai to jump into an area that they have not defined as of yet is a big mistake, I like all the improvements Akai has made to the MPC Line....this right here is a bit much..
MPC 3 will definitly the best update
Akai is awesome for this. NI would never do this. They haven’t even listened to any of our requests since 2012.
So Akai is giving for user tool which is far away from full funcionality? How serious this company is?
Thats why its called beta 😄
@@stef_kob Yes, i know that its called beta. I know also that about this topic there is more rumor in the web than about olimpic games….
@@czorakownik dont make me wrong i think akai are kind of lost my first mpc was a 60 more than 30 years ago…
I think loopop (or maybe someone else) mentioned the possibility of routing midi tracks to the track which holds the program (as a workaround regarding the programs issue)
You can use a dummy drum track, which would line up better to the drum track with the samples that your MIDI sending it to.
@@Harlem-Instrumental Indeed, drum midi tracks aren't exactly the same. Good point..
@@tommeke5761Thanks for paying attention.
anybody knows when the public beta is going to drop?
