We have the 2005 honda metropolitan ... I bought a new carb from amazon, installed it and had the bogging down issue upon accelerating. The reason I got the new carb was because the choke had gone on the old one (the white thing you attach a power clip to) - it wouldn't start without spraying some quickstart into the air intake. I checked the jets in the new carb and the pin holes were open, ... put some wire through (from a bread bag twist tie) to double check. Still bogged down. Added seafoam - still bogged down. So then I cannabilized the new carb for the choke, put it on the old one, and now it works perfectly again (starts easy, and doesn't bog down upon accelerating). People just have to do whatever they have to do to get these things working well again. Luckily you can still buy parts.
I have the same issue. Going to use your tips thanks!! I am also trying to install a CDI to my 07. I can't find a diagram. Mine didn't come with a CDI. Can you send me a diagram or link?Ive watched all videos on RUclips and throughout Google and can't find a wiring diagram or installation with my blue metal racing (Japanese) CDI box. Any help would be appreciated.
I have never owned one of these, but I do have a lawnmower. If you know you're not going to be using it. I would make sure the gas is totally out of the system and let it run dry so you don't run into these problems. Bad gas clogs up carburetor jets, fuel lines, etc.
I am working on a 2007 metoprolton. Replace the carburetor because the fuel shut off valve was stuck and broke when I started to remove it. So got a new carburetor from Amazon. It runs now but will die out after about 5 to 10 minutes. The fuel pump seems to be working but I don’t know what kind of volume it should be pumping. I found a new pump and filter kit for around $25.00 on Amazon and am going to get it. Will check the check valve. The way it runs makes me thinking something is getting hot in the ignition system and shutting it down. It will start back up and run for a few minutes and then shut off again and eventually it won’t start. Come back in a few hours and it will run again with the same results as before. After looking up the price of a new stator from Honda and have not found one that is aftermarket yet. I will definitely be checking the check valve.
Hi Kenneth, I am having the exact same issue. After changing the new Carb, fuel pump and filter and cleaning the fuel tank. Met will run until it warms up then it want to beg down. it will idle but won't rev up and go. Acts like it's vapor locked. I opened the gas cap to add sea foam to the gas and now it runs fine. Does the fuel cap allow for vent to prevent vapor lock? when I cleaned the tank I also cleaned the bottom of the gas cap because it had rusted up. So try taking off the gas cap to see if it is vapor locked.Cap off= release the vapor lock. Scott
@@sdhemmy1 yes I have try the gas cap and even had the cap off. I have basically narrowed it down to the stator or the control box. ( box has cdi and voltage regulator and electrical pollution controls build in one unit.) i have also check on specifications for the stator and could not find any ohm spec just peak reading volt spec and I don’t have that kind of meter to test it.
@@kennethrea79 One more comment for you to consider, I remember watching a youtube on the need to re-set the ECU?( i think he is referring to cdi) after you install a new or rebuild Carburetor in reference to reconnecting the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). for reference see "Carburetor tear down and cleaning 2005 Honda Metro (CHF50) scooter" by thetexascoder.fast forward to 1:18 min and he uses a hot wire into the white female plug in the battery compartment to the pos. terminal. turn key switch the "On" position and when the light flashes the TSP has been re-set. FYI. Scott
My 2005 is completely fine when it's cold. Once it gets warm and you give it throttle it starts skipping. I've replaced the fuel filter and got a new carburetor and spark plug. I put fuel stabilizer in it. I'm just lost at this point.
Fingers crossed...I changed my oil for my Ruckus it was fine. Then checked my air filter. Then my ruckus stopped running well. I noticed the airbox seal for the filter was warped and yeah...it now bogs loo xD...
I've owned 3 metros,, great bikes but basically a disposable lighter after the FIRST "problem" , so overly engineered and a knowledgeable mechanic doesn't exist in my experience, if the problem isn't diagnosed perfectly, you'll have the same problems, first sign of trouble sell it or junk it but DO NOT trust it ✌️
yup, the check valve is the only thing I haven't replaced, and it mine still bogs down. thank you for this post. fingers crossed mine is the same.
Had the same problem, but once I cleaned the jets and did a Sea Foam treatment, she seems to be running much better.

@@kennethrea79 Very interesting that it is the CDI Unit. They are expensive.Hope you can find a new one and it solves your issue.Scott

Try that several times.

Would this be on a ruckus to
I’m not sure but they are basically the same motor. It is really cheap so give it a try.
Awesome
but WHERE is that check valve located?
Under the floorboard. after the fuel pump. between the fuel pump and the carb. Best of luck.
