That's what nobody would teach us way back before the internet. Those little things that gave it that professional sound. I know why they wouldn't teach us that stuff because they wanted us to keep coming back. I learned more in 5 years on RUclips than I did the previous 40. Thanks Tom.

My first and only guitar teacher used to ask me to pick a song to learn each week. I don’t think we ever learned the song I requested. I was 12 and into Nirvana who’d just come out so I asked to learn Teen Spirit, of course. He taught me Glenn Frey’s ‘The heat is on’.

I've had "In Stereo" on constant rotation, "The Black Cloud" still gets me every time I hear it. The other day, I'm driving home, it's late afternoon, and storms are brewing. Up ahead, I see a big black cloud, about that time "The Black Cloud" starts playing. I'm feeling it but holding together OK. Then I crest the hill, and laid against that big black cloud is the most beautiful double rainbow I've ever seen. I had to pull over, it was a powerful moment. You guys made a great album. Thanks!

Hey Tom! Love the bends you do in this tune and at the gig with Guthrie the other night. Could you do a video showing us your thought process for those ringing bends? One I use occasionally is the minor 3rd bend up to the major 3rd while the root rings out, but that's it. Also, tagging off another comment, I really like what you and Guthrie did on the Clyde cover, would you show us some of what you were doing in that? Thanks Uncle Larry!

Larry, my second electric guitar was a bolt-on neck 'ron' burgundy Memphis Les Paul 'rendering'.
I tried to convince the local guitar tech to add a Gibson bridge and tailpiece back in '82, and he advised me just get a better guitar so I sold it and decided to get an Ibanez St-50 set neck two humbucker Sunburst model.
I changed my mind and bought a Gibson Firebrand 'The Paul' Deluxe in dazzling walnut over Mahogany finish.
It kind of sounded like a walnut and I got rid of it in a couple years.
What should have done is just bought a Japanese Squier Strat or tele from that era instead but hey, who knew?
At least you still have your 79 Deluxe which is super cool and makes me happy every time you talk about it or show it on the channel we're only a couple years apart in age, and we came up during the same era of music.
Don't ever think you don't reach people Tom, I guess maybe that's a pretty heavy thing to consider✌️😎

I bought a brand new black walnut top 1973 Lawsuit Ibanez Les Paul "Custom" in 1973 from the music shop where I worked for $300 and got something like $100 back from the owner under the table from the shop; he had some agreement where he wouldn't sell the guitars for less than $300. They do indeed have intonation problems and the wiring to the bridge pick up is cursed, but if you turn it up real loud through a distorted amp it did the job. I hardly ever play mine, it's in mint condition, but the cheap pick ups, intonation and tuning issues drive me crazy.
