Mods like this make me wonder why they insisted on making the movement of this game boost based to begin with? Momentum and roll physics works so well with an open-zone environment. It really changes the way on how you approach traversal and every slope or incline becomes a strategic opportunity to cover new grounds. I chalk it up to them playing it too safe by not straying too far from what they knew how to make. My only hope is that Kishimoto looks at mods like this and takes more chances the next time.
i think it's a combination of playing it too safe and also their gameplay philosophy of having the game be accessible as possible for everybody. so in that sense continuing push button to go fast gameplay for sega is important to retain
@@JM57-99 indeed it can create a whole new experience on how to handle Sonic's speed since he's supposed to be super fast and also it can be useful to support creative ways to play the games
this formula just needs to be eradicated. sonic just feels very soulless to use in this game. but hey i grew up on a very badass era of sonic you might be younger idk
idk if its u been so good running at high speed through the open zone and the stages or the beauty and improvement this mod brings to the game but i have to admit that i got thrilled seeing this video
I feel like no one has mentioned the combat section yet Now maybe this is similar to another mod or whatever but the moves are faster and much more fluid. It honestly looks a lot more fun to play
I'm of the opinion that I no longer want a run button in Sonic. I already don't really like it in most other games, but with Sonic I wanna be able to feel like I can pick up speed just by moving around. No more instant speed buttons, let me be in complete control of my character's speed. If you really feel the need to allow players to go slow then just have a button that lets them stop, but otherwise let the player access the speed themselves without needing to hold anything down.
And imma be real with you, that would SUCK BALLS, i have played a lot of games that have something similar to this: a Toggle button that lets you either run or walk, it always, ALWAYS feels awkward, and a run button Will forever be the superior option, not only is it far more intuitive, it makes doing small corrections in platforming way easier because at any moment you can stop holding the button to walk and hold it again when i need a boost to make it to another platform that is more far than usual.
One of the biggest issues with Sonic Frontiers is its open world concept is taken at such face value and nothing else. It really is incredible how much they misunderstood the essence of Sonic traversing in an open landscape that they forgot to make it any fun. I can't tell you how many times I play the game out of the sheer thought of wonder and enjoyment of this idea, only to become seriously bored of running around the landscapes a few minutes later. Their is nothing engaging about running through the Islands all that much aside from a few things here and there. Sonic's moveset isn't all that fun to tinker around with and none of his weight gets carried around with any sort of flow or engagement by the player. Their is nothing fun about holding a button down for long stretches of time just to gain the maximum amount of speed possible. There should have been more and if they were smart, they would fix this in the next game
meh this turned 4-G into a regular cyber space stage, i liked the rev gimmick but now that's kind of non existent here without the need to boost i think this would work better for a game that isn't designed around boost, ill pass
They didn't do a great job with the combat in my opinion, all they did was speed up the Animation instead of making any visual changes to the moves, homing shot is the only move with any visual differences The physics however are great
That skydive at the start got me bricked ngl

Now that SEGA is listening to the right feedback hopefully it won't take too long for us to see this concept in future games

iirc, Kishimoto's plans for the next game is either ditch or modify the boost
Man this is clean the animation and the wind that bursts out of him is a nice touch!
This is what i want for a sequel
Like how they did with Spider-Man 2

3:58 I think it got offended that you bumped into it
Now I feel regret for buying a ps4 instead of pc because I love playing games with mods😢
if only ppl could also make mods for the console versions...
Looks increadible😮
I wish Sega did this
Hopefully we'll get to see these concepts in future games
Atleast they gave us the spindash...so I have nothing to complain
A great new update.
It's a mod.
@@gravityfallscanada it's an update to the mod
I've tried playing with this mod, but the spindash is really weak.
Does anyone have an idea how BlueVivacity made it so powerful?
This feels alot more like sonic speed what a great mod.
Nice Video
Good video but what’s the name of that sonic frontiers sound track at the beginning?

Oh sick
I love the idea of this mod, but man, the pop in gets so much worse when you're going this fast 😂

to be honest momentum is overrated AF, but this mod looks amazing
Exactly how is momentum a issue suddenly for sonic? The original genesis games were built on momentum and speed, making it a core aspect of sonic
