Bars are usually measured without grips so that’s why they measured a bit longer than advertised. Grips add 10mm or so to total bar width

Evan, ....to lower that seat post as much as possible, I suggest you install a OneUp V2 dropper post. You may even want to go longer travel as it is adjustable, so you may lower travel depending upon how high you feel the stock post is. It has a much more narrow seat tube collar so the post will drop lower when the saddle is slammed to the seat tube. It has a lower profile saddle clamp which practically allows the saddle to drop to the rails. It makes a big difference in the feel of that saddle being out of the way when it's all fully slammed.

@@EvansMTBSagaIt makes a huge difference. I'll give you an example, on my YT jeffsy I had a stock 170 mm YT post. While the YT post was slammed to the collar and fully extended, that was as low as I would want it to be based on my full leg extension (I hope that makes sense😅). ... When I replaced it, I was able to install a 210 mm OneUp dropper and had a comparable ride height. ...I just got a Team Marin 2 and being in between sizes I sized up, problem was the stock 150mm Trans-X dropper post was way too long for my inseam when fully extended. I replaced it with the OneUp post 150 mm and it's perfect. ... Excited to see how your build turns out. Keep up the excellent content. Thanks!

I hope you enjoy the bike… at least until you decide you need another hardtail. I’d recommend the Pipedream Sirius and Canfield Nimble 9, oh, and you should search everywhere for a second hand BTR Ranger. 👍🏻

I have this bike and I love it. Agree with you on the cranks and dropper post being too long and may be the first things you will need to upgrade though. Check your rear hub though as this may need to be replaced before anything else. If it’s generic with no branding, save yourself some heartache and pull it off straight away to put something decent on its place as the generic hubs that Polygon have put on the SE are known to fail on a very regular basis. Mine completely failed within 100km. I put a Nukeproof Horizon v2 on the back - zero regrets.

i also had a D7 and loved it...but got a D7SE expecting the same bike. The D7SE was shipped to me from Bikesonline with a different rear hub than the D7...a generic hub with far fewer points of engagement. Bikesonline did not disclose this in it's advertising and blamed it on Polygon changing components indiscriminately. The reason the D7SE is much less expensive than the D7 is because it has cheaper components, and many people who have purchased the D7SE have had problems with them such as the rear hub failing, and other wheelset issues.

Well I've got a medium d7 (xc build) and it's currently weighing in at 27.8lbs. Not only is it possible but not even that difficult. Evan, Im pretty excited for the Siskiu D to see where you go with it. I bought a D6 and pulled off everything and put it on my Trek Marlin (minus rear hub ) and sold that to a guy getting his first real MTB. I pulled most off my stuff off my custom Ragley Big Al and install them on my D6 and after a couple of rides and I was feeling like the T7 was more my style. So now I have a 2023 T7, which I pulled ALL the parts off (Including the 140mm Rockshox Recon) and put them on the D6 to sell, and all my Ragley parts are now on the T7 minus a couple of things.I haven't sold the D6 YET, but now excited to see if you change my mind :) Love your series, I remember when you did the High Low series with the D5 you said you liked it better than the Yeti, but you kept the Yeti. Great videos on the d7 and d7SE... Do you think buying the SE is worth it to have the boost front fork setup - even though I may not upgrade forks for a while. Is the Suntour fork on the SE worse? But for future proofing if something breaks, then I eventually will. Or is the regular d7 better with the rockshox fork and just now worry about it?

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  Год назад +1

SE is definitely the way to go. The non boost front wheel is a pain to deal with if upgrading and the Rockshox fork is about the same quality as a Suntour. Plus the SE has strengthened the seat tube & top tube gusset. If you do decide to buy, could you click my link and then go through with the purchase? (No pressure, I know something like that is a big purchase)

Dude it took 7 minutes to get to the point of the video? 😝 I was sitting there like 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ so many side quests and then barely two minutes of the actual topic 🤔
Not trying to be rude just didn't get the point of the layout of this video 🫠

I own this exact bike too, I went for a medium which I found to be a perfect fit for me (175cm) been riding it for a few months and have done a handful of upgrades.
Nukeproof horizon v2 rims front and rear, this was a much needed upgrade as the stock rear hub was low engagement and they were overly heavy (spoke holes on the front rim kept leaking too)
Stock tyres it came fitted with were Maxxis recons, too slippy for UK trails so swapped out for Scwalbe magic mary 2.4 front, hans dampf 2.35 rear both in super trail casing.
Went tubless with Peatys valves and holeshot.
Grips swapped for Ergon GA3, Saddle Ergon sport, peddles Nukeproof horizon sam hills, Stem nukeproof horizon in copper.
Upgraded the front and rear discs to both 180mm, stock rear is 160mm also the stock discs were utter trash made from stampted steel.
So far i'm absolutely loving the bike it rides so smooth and so far the front Suntour raidon fork is performing just fine, though this will likely be my next upgrade.
I got the bike new for a great deal too at £900 thanks to new customer codes and seasonal offers, RRP was £1400.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with this bike Evan!
