The 5 BIGGEST Mistakes These Hogwarts Professors Made - Harry Potter Explained

- Опубликовано: 8 июл 2024
- Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. In today’s video, we're discussing Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry and its professors - Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall- you name it. Hogwarts has quite a fine reputation among the wizarding community. It’s produced some of the most impressive witches and wizards (good and bad)- and for centuries it has served the wizarding world. But how has Hogwarts served for such a long time? Why, that can be credited to the school’s backbone- it’s professors.
Without the professors of the wizarding world, young witches and wizards would be entirely left to their own devices. There would be a lot less order, far more stressed out parents, and a lot more homeschooling. Hogwarts gives students a place to be themselves, interact with other children, and truly tune in to their magical abilities. HOWEVER, with all of that said- professors aren’t perfect. They’re people just like the rest of us, and they make mistakes in their personal AND professional lives. On that note, today’s video will discuss 5 mistakes made by 5 different Hogwarts professors in Harry Potter. The list will range from trivial mistakes, to BIG no-no’s. Without further ado- let’s get started.

(this is not against HPT!)
Sorry but Quirrel and Severs don't count they were not being teachers at the time of there mistakes well you can make an argument for Quirrel but Severs wasn't a teacher yet and if you are making an argument for Severs make Dumbledore have his mistake be from Ariana's death I like the idea but you didn't execute it well in my opinion (this is a review with no hate to HPT his videos are amazing!)
When the books were first coming out I was always thinking about that.
I don’t believe the incident with Malfoy and the hippogriff was Hagrid’s fault. Hagrid explained to the class that hippogriffs are proud creatures and he also gave instruction on how to approach it Malfoy did not follow that instruction that’s what resulted in his injury Hagrid gave all the information needed to stay safe
Slughorn’s and Dumbledore’s “mistakes” were committed because there was deceit from the other wizard. They did not intentionally do it. Unlike with Quirrel and Snape they do things for their own personal gain…
Most of these mistakes don’t have anything to do with teaching, rather, mistakes as people.
Ironically Barty Crough Jr was the best defence against the dark arts teacher they had.
what about lupin though? he was awesome as well
You forgot Umbridge
Mistake: Existing.
This is underrated.
Her mistake is being born
I think hagrids biggest mistake was telling quirrel how to get past fluffy!

@@nini-ux9we Drunk and offered something he always wanted. Most people get loose lipped under those circumstances.
Another thing that most people don't realize is that Snape wanted to die, he wanted to die to see Harry's mom once again in the afterlife.
Out of order question, HPT: How could Voldemort not realize that the Trio was posted behind the wall just watching him killing Snape? Was he weakened due to the horcruxes being destroyed, so he couldnt feel their presence?
how could he? it's not like he has heightened senses or anything like that, right? I could be missing something here cuz it's been awhile since I delved into HP, but isn't he just a normal dude, if he wasn't wielding magic?
@@chubby_deity3143 hmmmm good question, Chubby... on that moment Harry was still one of his Horcruxes... in my pov he could be able to feel potter behind the wall...
@@rrangellister but there was never a "gps ping" thing, right? i don't believe Voldemort was ever able to pin point the location like that. I was always under the impression that it was more like a phone call, there's a connection but not something to "sense" if it's close, like a radar? idk, once again, I'm asking based off of memory, so i cant be sure of anything
@@chubby_deity3143 yeah, ur totally right... but this whole world is full of various povs... maybe it would be great if HPT make a video about that... theres a lot yet to be explored
They were under invisibility cloak cant even sensed by death

I agree with you on all but one of your findings, and that one is the last “Honorable Mentions:” Lupin. I don’t believe he “forgot” to take the potion, but instead, as he said, he was looking at the Marauder’s Map and spotted Sirius and Pettigrew, along with Harry, Ron, and Hermione headed toward the Shrieking Shack. He didn’t forget as Snape was bringing the potion to him when he, Snape, saw the same map showing everyone heading toward the shack. Here Snape is doubly mistaken because he would have seen Pettigrew on it as well.
Yeah... and he couldn't exactly leave Sirius there, Sirius was still... kinda murderous about Pettigrew and the golden trio was just plain confused. This is a mistake but like... :|
The map only showed the direction towards the shrieking shack so snape would only have seen lupin going down the passage and must have put it all together
I think Dumbledore's biggest mistake is not trusting Harry...And not telling him about Voldemort and his connection in The Order of the Phoenix....(Sirius could have been saved...😭)
I'd say Dumbledores biggest mistake was the fact that he got his sister murdured
Ye agreed bro
I think we have only mistakes closely related to teaching in Hogwarts.
@@MrTheZMAI yeah, you might be right
Sending Harry and Ron (two second year students at the time) into the dark forest to face man eating spiders is in my opinion a far bigger mistake of Hagrid's than the ones mentioned. Hippogriff was hardly Hagrid's fault. It was Malfoy's own problem. He was clearly told that you don't offend the hippogriff's pride and Malfoy openly humiliated Buckbeak. The fact that the case was a mess had nothing to do with Hagrid himself but the fact that Lucius Malfoy had most of the ministry in his pocket. Screwts were a f*ck up I agree.
Dumbledore made many mistakes. His biggest was manipulating people for what he thought is the greater good without even as much as asking other people's opinion on it. The one mentioned in the video was the rather insignificant in my eyes.
The rest was plausible I suppose.
I think it was not Hagrid´s idea to take them with him into the forest. McGonagall has found them breaking rules so I believe she chose their punishment.
@@xblejzeRx I talked about "The chamber of secrets" not "The philosopher's stone"
@@lunaskye2352 Oh sorry, my bad. I've totally forgot about that.
Theory idea: Is there any other way of becoming immortal other than making horcruxes? I know that there is the Unicorns blood but something else?
Another idea: Why didn’t Harry use the elder wand to cure the mental illness of Neville’s parents? I mean old Bella couldn’t be more powerful than the elder want surely?
I'll answer to your second theory;
There are some curses that are irreversible. Especially the unforgivable ones. (Eg. Even the Elder wand cannot reverse the killing curse) Also for Harry to be able to undo the Longbottom couple's insanity, he'll have to know the counter curse to the crutiatus curse. And there isn't any.
Oh ya it makes s sense
For your first question, the answer of sorts is the elixir of life, as made by Nicolas Flamel, using the Philosophers Stone. It’s not true immortality, but is as close as you could reasonably get. Flamel made it to almost 700 years old. He wasn’t exactly spritely though, as shown in the second Fantastic Beasts movie!
As for the second issue, the problem is that Neville’s parents were tortured to the point of madness. The madness itself wasn’t a curse that could be reversed.
Bella's relative power doesn't really enter into curing Neville's parents - they're not cursed, they're damaged by the effects of curse. Harry would need to repair the damage, effectively rebuilding their minds from fragments.

Do you think Riddle drank a little bit of liquid luck before talking with Slughorn?
everyone: expelliarmus
snape: EX -- *500 years later*-- PELLIARMUS
It was a demonstration for students, some young as 2nd year.
Drawing out the pronunciation would make it clearer.
How about putting the cursed ring on? Seems like a biggie
Yeah
Nah! Dumbledores worst mistake was getting Tom Riddle out of that orphanage!
Yes
no, his volatility would have destroyed humanity.
Dumbledore had no way of knowing what kind of wizard Tom Riddle was until he met him.
After seeing that Tom was gifted and could grow to be very powerful with a streak for cruelty, he probably thought it was better to try to influence young Tom and keep a watchful eye on him.
@@lamoinette23 dumbledore didn't know that's what makes it a mistake and yeah he didn't know whats to come.
Nah he didn't know bruh
Nice video, but dumbledores mistake is not trusting harry in OOP
he wasnt ready.
@@stickymeat88 He was. Dumbledore even acknowledged it was a mistake.
“Youth cannot know how the aged think .. but the aged are foolish if they forget what it is to be young “
Something I always wondered about, we know abt the named teachers, like Mcgonnogal, Flitwick, Snape, Hagrid, Madam Hooch, etc, but who else is on staff at Hogwarts? The shot at 1:21 has loads of staff we never learn about
There are other classes like Arithmancy, Muggle Studies.. don't recall those teachers being named.
prof. vector , prof. sinistra , prof. grubbly-plank , prof. binns are the ones i recall
I think Severus Snape's biggest mistake was calling Lily Evans a mudblood. If he hadn't maybe they would have ended up together.
Yes
not saying one word wont alter the course of history
I'd say Dumbledore's biggest mistake was attempting to wear the horcrux ring, which led largely to him having to include his own death as part of the final plans for the battle against Voldemort
How would events of changed if Voldemort destroyed the Horcrux in GOF within Harry at tail end of graveyard scene? (Impact on Arthur Weasley attack, Sirius fake vision, later visions, etc)
Also, if Voldemort specifically gave Pettigrew a new hand, and had Pettigrew’s blood in him as well after GOF, then why was the hand able to kill him in Malfoy Manor?
Finally, if Voldemort never killed Snape, then how and when would Snape of turned back to the “good guys”?
The blood of Harry still carried his mothers sacrificial protection. Thats why Voldemort needed Harry's blood; to be able to touch him. Pettigrew had no such protection, even if traces of his own blood were in voldemort.
As for Snape turning back to the side of non supremists, I dont think that was something that was ever discussed; He would either be killed in a blind rage by a member of the order for "betraying" them or would be captured and his story told to them which they could confirm in numerous ways.
Hagrid also told quirell how to walk next to fluffy :)
I think you could probably (unfortunately) make a top 5 mistakes Dumbledore made video tbh
I think that Barty Crouch Jr. was just a really good impostor - and dumbledore probably suspected, say, crouch and karkaroff a lot more
Also lupin for not closing the marauders map which led to snape being able to read it and find out where the trio were. Ultimately, snape got mad at the fact that lupin roamed free after the whole Sirius black fiasco and exposed lupin to the Slytherins. This led to lupin having a hard time in the wizarding world, more than he did before
Theory idea: If Voldemort, after hearing the prophecy, went after Neville instead
For one thing, Snape would have remained a loyal death eater. Actually, this could have ended up kind of interesting because it may have actually led to a duel between Snape and Lilly.
When Hagrid's name was mentioned I was expecting to hear about the time when he told Voldemort how to get past Fluffy, so he could go after the Philosopher's Stone. The scene with Malfoy wasn't really a mistake - Hagrid had after all warned the students to under no circumstances insult a hippogriff; it was Malfoy's own fault that he didn't listen. If Hagrid can be said to have made mistakes on his lessons, I would rather say the illegal breeding of blast-ended skrewts is much worse ...
I always say that Hagrid was a great friend but terrible teacher.
Great vid as always and really interesting to think about.
Even the most powerful make mistakes.
He could be a great teacher though. He clearly knows loads about magical creatures, as evidenced by him continuing Grubbly Plank's lessons on Unicorns, and even capturing some unicorn foals which let the boys interact with them directly. His problem is, of course, his terribly skewed perception of dangerous magical creatures, and seeming inability to recognize that humans (and especially teenagers) are a lot more at risk of getting hurt than he is.
It's rather unfortunate. He really should pay attention to Hermione's advice, if nothing else.
Realistically, Grubbly Plank would make for a better permanent staff member. Knows at least as much as Hagrid, but without the irresponsibility.
Giving it a bit of a think, I'm pretty sure that Trelawney could actually be a decent teacher, if she would just give up pretending to see terrible prophecies all over the place and actually confined herself to teaching the various forms of fortunetelling. She clearly has the passion for the subject, but has no actual ability to call upon prophecy consciously. Prophecy itself doesn't appear a learnable skill, but it's possible that at least some of the divination arts she teaches could be usable to some extent, even by those without the gift.
@@ThatSoddingGamer I don't think it's teachable at all. Even Firenze essentially tells them that. If I remember correctly Harry thinks his first lesson with Firenze was Firenze telling them it's basically not possible to predict the future, at best you get signs which are difficult to interpret, human forms of it are bordering on nonsense and Centaurs who are more gifted than humans at it, get it wrong all the time too.
The hippogriff incident wasn’t Hagrid’s fault but Draco’s For completely ignoring What was effectively a Teachers instruction out of pure petulance.
Still a dumb decision to show a dangerous creature to 13 year olds without any knowledge beforehand
Was that really Slughorn's mistake? I think Tom already knew what a Horcrux was, he just needed someone's reaction to making 7 horcruxes.
Was Snape's action really a mistake, though? If he hadn't relayed the prophecy, then begged for Lily's life, the whole Loving Sacrifice thing wouldn't've kicked in, and Voldemort would not have been 'defeated' back in 1981.
it would be, at the very least, in his own eyes.
It is not intirelly true about hagrid, because in the movie he said that you should never ever insult a hippogrif and Malfoy did it anyway, so it was completelly Malfoys fault that he was attacked.
Yess exactly
But a teacher still shouldn't bring a dangerous creature to 13 year olds on the first day of term
@@mrdr0161 that is true, but it was still Malfoys fault that he was attacked
Theory: Could the other founders of Hogwarts have had a secret place in the school similar to the Chamber of Secrets?
My theory is the room of requirement is rowena ravenclaws,
The secret passage way to the kitchens is hufflepuff,
And headmasters office for Godric griffindore because it requires a password like 3 of the four choices
@@zacwallace5676 thats actually a good theory, as most of the headmasters/ headmistress were gryffindors, that place might have been converted into the room for them, and since the ravenclaw’s diadem was hidden in the room of requirement it might be ravenclaw’s place, also helena ravenclaw knew exactly about the room of requirement, as for the secret way to the kitchens, i actually dont know how that would work.
The great hall, where all the food is, is hufflepuff’s.
@@Shiv_Deore maybe helga told someone? And then it was just a matter of passing it on to younger students
@Seth there's many secret rooms in Hogwarts. Even Dumbledore admitted even he doesnt know them all. But I vet you my top dollar of $200 that feed and George know waaaaay more about the secrets since that first carried the marauders map. But please Note: not rooms are seen on the map(cause the map was created back in 1970s by James Potter and other marauders) even it has it limits..
Hagrid makes loads of big mistakes-
Bullying/abusing Dudley, traumatising him.
Getting a dragon egg and leaving three first years to look after the baby dragon and even have them take the dragon to Charlie's friend, breaking many rules and ending up getting caught and in trouble.
Sending Draco and Neville, then Harry and Draco, three first year students off on their own in the forbidden forest when there was an unknown dangerous creature killing unicorns- who knows what would have happened to Harry had Firenze not showed up when he did.
Also sending two second years off on their own to go talk to a dangerous spider.
Threatening Draco.
Having Hermione and Harry watch Gwarp.
And trying to save acromantulas during a battle with death eaters instead of helping the students, thus getting caught.
McGonagall- Severely punishes Neville, Draco, Harry and Hermione by sending them to the forbidden forest for detention. Harry suffers from nightmares after this detention and could have been killed.
Belittles students when they go to her with concerns, leading them to take matters in their own hands.
Severely punishes Neville for something that wasn't his fault and he couldn't control instead of trying to help him figure out a way to remember the passwords- humiliates him and locks him out of his common room, denying him access to his bed, place that should be his safe place and not denied access from.
Doesn't bother to take Draco to the hospital wing or Snape herself, instead she has Mad Eye moody who she had just caught abusing, to bring him down to Snape.
Lupin- keeping important information about a supposed mass murderer out to kill Harry, from Dumbledore thus allows Sirius to get into the school more than once. The second time he had a knife and was slashing Ron's bed curtains. Had Lupin told Dumbledore that Sirius was a black dog animagus and knew about the secret passageways of the castle, Sirius would have been caught and would have told Dumbledore about Pettigrew thus Pettigrew would have been caught and Voldemort would not have been back the following year.
Dumbledore-giving the idea to Grindlewald about making muggles inferior to the wizarding community.
Killing his sister.
Neglecting Tom Riddle.
Allowing Gryffindors to get away with almost murdering classmates while Slytherin students are banned from talking of their traumas and made to feel as if their life doesn't matter.
Sending Harry to an abusive home and not checking up on him.
Raising Harry like a pig for slaughter and not telling Harry about his connection to Voldemort and why occlumency lessons are important and forcing Sirius to stay in a home that brings back bad memories.
Slughorn- keeping quiet about Voldemort knowing about horcruxes for years instead of telling Dumbledore.
Ignoring certain students due to their association/wealth/confidence and popularity. Ignoring the students who don't show either of these.
Not doing anything about Ron being poisoned, just stands there watching. Luckily Harry remembered reading the notes in the Prince's book.
Snape- calling Lily a mudblood.
Telling Voldemort of the prophecy.
His treatment of Harry, Neville and Hermione. Bullying them.
Not helping Neville nor allowing Hermione to do so, and threatening Neville.
Embarrassing Neville
Not helping Hermione out with her teeth, bullying her.
Allowing his Slytherins to get away with their behaviour on the Quidditch pitch during matches.
Professor Longbottom's mistake is being too forgetful.
Lol, that's assuming he still suffers that shortcoming...
Absolutely brilliant video 😍
The biggest mistake mcgonagall made was not remembering when she was born to show up in fantastic beasts
Dumbledore's biggest mistake was putting on Marvolo Gaunt's cursed ring. That was his death sentence.
VIDEO IDEA: Idea about the divorce of witches and wizards.
I think the concept of DIVORCE in the wizarding world would be a great video idea ...GIVE A HEART to my comment if you will upload a video on it.
We just gonna forget when Hagrid told voldemort and students how to get past Fluffy?
Why wasn’t Hagrid given a new wand after his name was cleared?

I think Dumbledore made a bigger mistake in putting on Vodemort'd ring
Dumbledore's "mistakes" are worser than other professors because he said so😎😎
8:50 Now I understand... Very harsh to accept but... What a wise quote.
Seeing quirrel dude in boardwalk empire was crazy. Then he was in the Viking show on netflix. He's a good actor
Most of the Hogwarts professors redeemed themselves after their mistakes, with the exception of Professor Quirrell due to his death.
Oh my gosh yes! Why didn’t Lupin take his dang potion??
this might be a stupid question.
if harry threw Voldemort's horcruxes into the veil that sirius black went in would it have destroyed the horcruxes? because in the books they say along the lines of this
harry said " he only just went in the veil i can quickly go in and get him back "
lupin replies with something like this " the moment you go in the veil you would die"
so what if the horcruxes were thrown in the veil ? would it destroy the soul in the horcruxes?
like i said it could be a stupid question but im just interested :P
Sorry for pointing this out, but I believe you made one mistake yourself. You said "Moody" wasn't discovered for nearly an entire term. As I understand, a term is only part of a year, like the period between summer break and Christmas break. It's more accurate to say a year, I believe.
Also, Hagrid has made worse mistakes than his carelessness, in my opinion, by giving up information on how to get past Fluffy, and I wouldn't put the hippogriff incident down as Hagrid's mistake, as while the creatures were not entirely safe, if Malfoy hadn't decided to be a jerk like always, the lesson would have gone without a problem.
I also think it was a bigger mistake for Dumbledore to not let Harry be better informed about everything going on during The Order of Phoenix. Six innocent lives were brought in danger and one man died because he didn't let Harry get the information he needed to take appropirate countermeasures. Yes, a life was also lost as a result of the mistake mentioned in the video, bot only one other life was brought in immediate danger.
You could make a 5 biggest mistakes Dumbledore made video
It’s 5am where I am and I’m watching this lol 😂
Want a cookie?
Can you make a video about the history of the golden snitch?
Honourable mention to another Dumbledore mistake (at Hogwarts): ignoring Harry's multiple warnings that Draco was up to something in book 6. If he'd have spotted the vanishing cabinet earlier his school wouldn't have been invaded by death eaters.
Lol dumbledoor already knew what malfoy was upto
But he didn't ignore him. Dumbledore was fully aware what Draco was doing
Tell me again … what was it about curiosity and the cat ?
How did Umbridge not get fired from the ministry?
"Our final mistake was made by hagrid" .....
"He was 'banished because he was clumsy'"?
"Honorable mention, lupin for not taking wolfsbane potion".....
Lol umm.....
Dumbledore not realizing his old friend was a fake was a mistake but not his biggest. His biggest mistake was, is, and always will be placing Harry with the Dursley’s and further allowing Harry to be abused.
Harry's mother sacrifice herself to protect him. Dumbledore send Harry to Dursley because they were his only living relative. So as long as Harry live in Dursley's home. So he will remain protected until he turns 17.
@@exoslaysurfave5781 Lily’s sacrifice had to have had more to it because many parents would do the same and only Harry survived. The AK leaves no mark. Yet Harry has a lightning bolt scar. Also the basis of that sacrifice and it’s protection is Lily’s Love for her son. Not her blood. It’s more likely that her protection was weakened by Harry’s being placed with the Dursley’s who had nothing but hatred and contempt for Harry. His room was the Cupboard under the stairs until his Hogwarts letter showed up. His cousin beat him up, he did all the work around the house, and was starved. How does that environment support a protection based on Love? No Dumbledore needed Voldemort’s AK to work, it wouldn’t against Whatever Lily did so he placed Harry where he could make a plausible excuse and have said protection weakened. Placing any child into an abusive environment and when the child begs not to go back and you send them that is not only a mistake it’s a crime.
Lupin's mistake is bigger than Hagrid's in my opinion. It worked out, in the end...but it let Peter escape AND ruined Sirius' innocence reveal....which allowed the ministry to focus on Sirius instead of Voldemort...which kills Bertha...and allows Voldemort to know about the Tri-Wizard Tournament...and leads to Cedric being killed.
Not taking the potion had a serious domino effect.
And Hagrid...well, his big mistake was really all about the Dragon Egg...and Fluffy....and maybe the Harry Potter Support party. 😄
And Slughorns initial big mistake was making a love potion for Merope, assuming that the hints leading to that conclusion are correct, of course.
Umbridge's big mistake was how she mouthed off, used magic against the Centaurs.
McGonagall's big mistake is not being prepared for an attack by Umbridge and her squad while arresting Hagrid. She underestimated both Umbridge's ruthlessness...and Hagrid's ability to handle the assault.
what would happen if Harry had looked at the marauders map in the goblet of fire would he just seen two alastor moody's or alastor and crouch ? Sorry for the bad English this is not my first language :)
he actually did see crouch's name in the map in the books and moody(crouch) took the map from him...there's actually much more to this and im too lazy to type
@@inmate-yj3ic thanks a lot for this info :) i really appreciate it :D

Dumbledore's actual mistake was not filling Harry in with any information during the Order of the Phoenix
The sorting hats biggest mistake was sorting Lockheart into ravenclaw
How about McGonagall not taking Harry, Ron and Hermione serious when they urged to talk to Dumbledore about.the philosopher stone. She just said they had to go back to their dorm. She should've taken the information more seriously.
If you think it from McGonagall's point of view, the trio had been recklessly, roaming at the top of the astronomy tower after hours and fighting of trolls.
And let's face it, only a Hogwarts professor would be capable of reaching the end and she clearly didn't suspect her colleagues.
@@siddhantagarwal5421 still the the trio was right and it was a mistake not to feel any suspicion how they knew so much about the philosopher stone in the first place. Not taking any action at all was a big mistake.
Dumbledore putting on Marvolo Gaunt's Ring.
what about when dumbledore put on a horcrux that killed him
I like it when I hear: Welcome to another installment
Hagrid went to school with Tom Riddle. So why didn't he inform Harry during the years when he was alittle more mature about 14 during triwizard movie if Harry has asked him? Don't you think that's a huge red flag(or did Dumbledore make Hagrid swear to secrecy to protect both Harry and his own life?)
Because very few people knew Tom Riddle was Voldemort, only his inner circle knew because they were friends with him in school, but Hagrid wasn't friends with him. So he didn't know
Don't forget the time Dumbledore made boom boom in his robes
Harry vs Hermione plz 😭😭
Johnny Depp won his legal battle against Amber Heard. Warner Brothers should seriously consider putting him back on as Grindelwald
That's not why they fired him. They fired him because he lost a lawsuit against against The Sun
This makes me wonder if Quierrel knew about Ravenclaws Crown how else would he know to check Albania
If Dumbledore isn't perfect no one is
I completely disagree with the Hagrid one Buckbeak was harmless until Draco provoked it...
Still a very dangerous creature to bring into a class of 13 year olds on their first day. Hippogriffs should only be shown to older students who are more mature and also give them multiple lessons beforehand to teach them about the creatures instead of just surprising them with and giving giving about 5 minutes of information
@@mrdr0161 don't tell me Hogwarts has any regards for students' safety they literally kept a giant 3 headed dog inside the castle that could be accessed by 11 year olds with one of the simplest spells imaginable
I think bringing Buckbeak in on the firat day is exactly what you'd expect from a Hogwarts teacher😂
Only if Malfoy would've behaved...
the biggest mistake that Dumbledore made was not finding a way to remove horcrux book by talking to the headmaster
A real problem is (talking reality but it applies here) sending children away from home for most of a year. A month or so is bad enough but most of a YEAR. It most certainly doesn't give them a good place to grow. Why even send them home to begin with if you're going to have them that long? The school is doing ALL the raising. In reality Harry should have been turned over to protective services. Now back to fiction. All of this still applies accept the protective services should have been a charm placed on the Dursleys to at least not torment Harry. If someone like say, Dumbledore should have raised Harry or even Snape. And, TRAINED HIM. Ah well. It all worked out eh. At least in fiction..
I would say sorry for the ramble but the line about Hogwarts "giving" the students a place to be themselves isn't a good thing when they're gone from home even a portion of that amount of time. Anyway THAT should be one of the biggest mistakes by the professors AND the school. It doesn't work in real life (state/military taught is indoctrination) and it wouldn't work here.
Prof. Minerva McGonagall is basically flawless, a queen 👑
Nah. She made 4 first years go in the forbidden forest as detention. And made Neville sleep in the corridor, despite a murderer being spotting in that same corridor the night before
Dumbledore made another big mistake. He let Harry compete in the Triwizard Tournament. He should have stopped Harry from competing. That would have saved Cedric's life.
I would also have added James and Lily Potter for trusting Wormtail with their secret keeping, Sirius Black for behaving badly towards Kreacher and again, Dumbledore for not opening up to Harry in year 5. Honourable mentions go to Cornelius Fudge for distrusting Dumbledore about the returning of Voldemort and Dolores Umbridge for calling centaurs "filthy half-breeds"
They aern't professors bro
I’d say Dumbledore’s biggest mistake was getting involved with Grindelwald.
Strange. I have always been under the impression that Dumbledore committed the biggest mistake, when he deluded himself into believing his own godhood by attempting to rationalize child murder as the righteous method of improving wizarding society.
Well the most notable and really a real mistake was of slughorn!!! I don't think any other mistake is as big as that
The thumbnail confuses me
Slughorns was the greatest mistake in my opinion

Dumbledore's biggest mistake was hiring the biggest bully the school ever had, Snape!
🙄
Yeah if he didn't hire Snape, Harry would've died in the first book
We wouldn't have gotten the hp series then, cuz Harry would have died like 5 times before his 7th year 😂😂
Severus was a brave man. Cold and cruel at times, but without him the story would be vastly different. Dumbledore hits it on the mark though, Snape could not forgive James Potter, even though he did a great deal to protect Harry, his own bias and bitterness was too strong.
