Todays video covers the REPAIR WORK I had to undertake after my newly custom painted motorbike fell over during the video shoot! After I recoved I relalised the good that can come from this. You win folks! Now you will know exaclty how to fix your bodywork issue by following these few professional steps. Good luck.
Every week a new video will be uploaded covering a specific topic of restoring a motorbike of some interest.
I intention is to share how to restore an object. Anything that I grow passionate about. It’s that simple. I have a day job in a company which restores for a living. Please check out our other channel CarbonBikeRepair (a blue shield logo) for some amazing carbon fibre and paint skills.
I’m not a professional RUclipsr but maybe one day if this amazing response for you all continues!

Some history of this Honda VFR800FI 2001 model:
Discovered on Facebook right in the middle of restoring of a very rare Norton Commando, I decided to impulse buy! It was later that I discovered the Gen5 version was a limited production run before the VTEC model emerged in 2002 and quite sought after. Lucky me and lucky bike!
It is in a shocking state but I’ll turn it around if you watch this challenging restoration! Old tech is fickle…
I don’t imagine there will be more than 2 parts to this as I’m just as excited to deliver the iconic Commando back to the road or a museum!
For now my intention is to restore this VFR on the tightest of budgets (which is fun for me to ride) but also to deliver to my viewers a great example of a Honda VFR800FI.
Thanks again for watching my work. You are all contributing in some way to the growth and maturation of the content.
See you on your screen!
Rob
Unbelievable! Looks like magic to me!
Been there, done that and got the T-shirt. A fractured left leg (tibial plateau).!! I was only wheeling the bike out of the garage to clean it! Same pristine condition before the damage too.
It was very unfortunate that you managed to drop it! It happends to the best of us! After such a hard work! But luckliy there are professionals working on it so it was fixed as new again! Great job!
Lovely job dude 👍🏻
Thanks Lomate!
I'm a believer that when something bad happens, you turn it into something good. So; wonderful opp for a panel repair and it looks as good as new.
Of course; you don't want it to happen in the first place so...
Aah no! But you are right. An opportunity opened up for us all 👍
It was one thing to do it in the first place, but to then repair to same standard is stunning 👍
Ah thank you Jamie 🙏
Perfect, negative to positive example. If it hadn't dropped then we wouldn't have had the bonus content. Fantastic process, but try not to repeat 😄👍😜
Well just as well it's still the best road motorcycle produced. Perfection 😍 yes please
Bikes fall over, don’t kick yourself. That was amazing, I’d no idea anyone could do any of that!
I don’t feel such a bell end having read that.
I’ve had 2 gen5 VFRs, both 98. I figure if I keep it long enough it’ll become collectible. Gone through the RR issues, brakes but it’s really a great bike.
Really enjoyed your series of videos on the VFR. Looking forward to watching some of your other videos on your channel. I have also subscribed to carbon bike repair as well.
That’s great Trevor. Thanks 🙏
Love the dream sequence at the start. Excellent job on the repair. As good as new👍🏻
Excellent work and video!☺
Thank you Motofiction 👍
Superb work!
Thank you Anthony 👍
Great repair. When you have access to all that gear and knowledge you can’t go wrong.
Thanks Andrew. It’s more about being enthusiastic and hard headed too
Excellent repair and paint job. That clear looks amazing. 🏍
That was amazing. I thought it would be a case of removing the decal, rubbing down the majority of that panel, apply a new decal........
Very professional.
Thank you. Many would think that is the only way but now you can follow how it can be done a bit smarter!
Great video and great work on that repair.
U r doing really well and i admire ur work and also waiting for ur videos.
From : India.
Thanks Soni 🙏
Really impressive ! - one question if I may please, re the vfr seat cover....where did you source it from!
A really good watch. Did you sell both VFR's?
No I can’t part with them just yet! I can’t see what someone would pay to cover the work unfortunately + they just look like they should be on display somewhere. I haven’t actually taken them out on the road as yet but maybe this weekend. Thank you 🙏
what grit sand paper?
Honestly, repainting the whole piece and putting a new decal would have been less hustle and a better result. Love your channel and vfr by the way ;-)
Thank you but firstly these are not decals…they are sprayed on custom graphics. 2ndly the exercise for this restore was to show localised restoration to valuable parts which demand originality. 3rd the ‘result’ was perfect thank you. Maybe to flicked through the video too quickly and offered an opinion…
But thank you for liking the videos I produce! 👍
