      I've learned from military pornographers, incels, and actual fascists on 4chan that this narrative is about the destruction they force Russia to do to every settlement. Years ago, in previous major towns being assaulted, they shrugged off Russian advances by saying there was nothing but rubble left for Putin. They were convinced Ukraine could do this for years, while Russians wasted men and equipment.
      So when they say "no strategic value", they really seem to speak of the usefulness of a settlement for defense, for UAF to simply step back and compel Russia to exhaust itself to destroy the next location, where RF will not claim any "real" victory by capturing garbage.
      These people exemplify the ideologically-driven war; they don't put value in something other than how it will work against their enemy. Once you understand this, you can see how it drives all US/Western foreign policy. Specifically, you can see why the US succeeded to use Ukraine against Russia; there was similar ideology with converging interest.

      That is true, but only partially.
      The money and resources, instead of building even modest fortifications, found their pockets, no doubt.
      Even with the hands of soldiers and the limited machinery they have, one could build decent fortifications.
      But who needs those, if you could sell the fuel and keep the money?
      Also there are dozens more methods to gain profit while commanding a military force. Corruption finds many ways.

    Russia did exactly what a force with superior numbers should do against a force struggling to keep its forces in the field due to the lack of manpower: they pulled the front to be longer. Even if the northern breakthrough does not bring miracles and massive speedy breakthroughs (it might), Ukraine no longer seems to have reserves, it needs to pull troops from engagements in the Eastern front, this is very detrimental to them and speeds up their exhaustion and saps their morale.

      For the same reason ukrainian government knew about upcoming war in 2021 but they purposefully made no actions to protect borderline. Moreover Zelenskiy and his people admited that they knew all along about upcoming disaster. I think ukrainian government is a bunch of puppets. They are told to act like this cause there is no independent government → so suffering is inevtable.

    @Weeb Union I respectfully disagree with your comparison between the current Russian push towards Lyptsi and the Ukrainian push towards Robotyne. I would argue that a fairer comparison would be with the Ukrainian push in the Vremivka (Staromaiorske/Urozhaine) salient. That is because both were overstretched and unfavorable positions to hold and, as such, not that important.

    • @WeebUnionWU
      @WeebUnionWU  20 дней назад +2

      1. Russia hardly fortified that area
      2. The depth is still similar but Russian advanced near Kharkiv have much more width making it significantly more succesful

    • @alexiscoutinho8078
      @alexiscoutinho8078 20 дней назад +1

      @@WeebUnionWU The Vremivka salient had a width of ~25km from Levadne to Novodonetske. The Lyptsi front has ~15 km, though if you add the central and Vovchansk front, it's way more (~40km in total). But even so, I still think the conditions of the battlefield are more similar to the Vremivka salient, even if the Ukrainians had some more fortifications in this case. Or am I totally underestimating the fortifications in the Hlyboke and Lukiantsi areas?

      I believe Russia wanted to wait for Ukraine to have low reserves and is using this offensive to draw in valuable Ukrainian reserves from Donbass and Kherson, and once those reserves are deployed to Kharkiv then I think Russia will launch a massive offensive or maybe even multiple massive offensives (they have multiple options of where they can launch these offensives Sumy, Kherson, Donbass), because Russia absolutely has the initiative and can dictate where the battlefield happens with Ukraine only being able to react to it, furthermore if you look at Kharkiv on a map there's lots of rivers, and lakes, meaning that there's dozens of bridges around the Kharkiv region, so I believe what will happen is once Ukraine deploys it's reserves to Kharkiv Russia will destroy any and all bridges in the region which will basically lock those reserves in the Kharkiv region and that would open up the opportunity for Russia to conduct a massive offensive while Ukrainian reserves are stranded around Kharkiv, not to mention that Russia can absolutely pound those reserves with artillery, drones, and FABs while they're stuck in the Kharkiv region essentially making them tactically inoperational while they slowly get destroyed by Russian firepower, and if Russia does this simultaneously with an offensive in Donbass or Kherson then it will mean that Ukrainian lines would crumble as they wouldn't have sufficient reserves to defend and any reserves they did have would be stuck around Kharkiv.

    The problem with encircling an enemy is that you have to double your troops, 1. Watching your rear and 2. Pushing on and defending any counter attacks.
