Airsofts been a game changer, to the point that a lot of our classes are based around it. The ability to teach force on force, at a significantly lower cost, is just unbeatable. Even an hour of shooting a paper plate in the garage is an hour of training in my mind. It's not reality, but it preps you for it in ways a flat range cant.

Airsoft IDPA matches would be fun. Absolutely no need for a dedicated firearms range. In fact, such matches would potentially be much more realistic.

Good advice - training with airsoft clones definitely worked well for me before I bought my first real pistols
Since then , I’ve moved on to using a SIRT pistol for part of my dry fire training ; even though the SIRT is more expensive than most airsoft clones , it doesn’t break they way they can do and you can really practice anywhere ( plus I got tired of vacuuming up pellets in my office lol )

I really appreciate this. I live in Canada where pistols are very expensive and lots of strict rules on where you can shoot them. I have yet to get my restricted license but I play airsoft a lot and enjoy your videos to practice tactics while also feeling like I can hone skills with a real fire arm. Thank you for talking about airsoft and its benefits!

I trained with high end airsoft clones for a year before I got my RPAL in Canada and bought my first 9mm pistols
Practiced proper grip , holster draw , movement drills and target transition
Once licensed , I was able to pass my IDPA holster qual easily and started competing right away
The best advice I got from a friend who’s a Range Officer was to not treat the airsoft like a toy - treat it with the same safe practice that you would a real firearm
Muzzle and trigger awareness being primary ; if you learn bad habits with a toy gun you risk making a mistake with a potentially lethal weapon
In my experience ,some guns in Canada are similarly priced and sometimes cheaper than some areas in the US ; 9mm ammo is definitely more readily available is and cheaper right now

@@stovepipe8966 that's awesome man, some of the other guys I airsoft with think its silly that I take it so seriously while practicing with the "toy" counterparts. But I feel its important for muscle memory and getting the basics down for when handling real firearms. My father owns a 9mm baretta and .38 special revolver and shoot them at the range with him from time to time. Definitely have seen improvement since practicing with airsoft at home. My dad melts down lead and does all his own reloading of 9mm so he is never short on it haha.

Good fundamentals produce solid results....plus it’s a smart way to train during this ammo shortage or for those that don’t have a closet full of ammo.

20+ years ago, during the infancy of airsoft, I put my department's Tac team onto airsoft for more realistic training. At the time, they were using HK USPs and MP5s.

I couldn't agree more. I discovered the training aid aspect of airsoft when it first came out and replica firearms were being manufactured. Taught my kids both on pistol and AR platforms. Got some laughs from uninformed members of my competitive shooting community. Once they saw my kids go live at the range, the laughing stopped.
Airsoft is also a great way to vet the every changing world of tactical shooting as well. A pair of shorts, no shirt and eye protection standing off one on one at the beep will give you a gut check and some insight to complete BS spread here on RUclips.
    Great video! 1:31

Sadly, the real-weight airsofts they sell nowadays are really pricey ($170 for a Walther PPQ). I went with a cheap $25 PPQ and gutted the inside so only the trigger and mag release work, then stuffed the negative space with lead weights, slapped my WML on it, and superglued a sliver of white paper on the front sight to mimic my XS big dot sights that I EDC. Then hang some sticky notes for targets around the room and you're gold!

May I ask, as someone who dont owns a firearm and from a country were I have to pay per hr on a shooting range up to 30€/hr.... are those ~170€ really this expensive in comparsion to a real fiream?

170 for a standard gas blowback pistols is pretty standard. My Glock 18C is 199 USD. most glocks are about 175 as well.

I already have a G19 replica for pistol training. Any recommendations on a lower cost AR replica that allows the practice of necessary muscle memory, ie, lrbho, functional safety, mag release, bolt release, etc.

I took a TacMed class, we used some Umarex G19 non-reciprocating CO2 guns for some force on force training.... OUCH!!!
They worked excellent, but on a fresh CO2 they are going to draw blood, scenario players beware!

😂 not expensive? Spent almost $500 on a GHK steel slide G17 airsoft trailer after wasting $300 on a so called "MIL/LE only" Spartan Glock. For the weight size balance recoil and trugger its the only one on the market that will do the job, and the price just shows that they know it. Cheap airsoft glocks all have crap triggers, light weight slides and magazines and zero recoil along with the size being larger (ie a G17 airsoft is like a G21 real steel)
I get it, the video is just a promotional sales video for some garbage that the glock store was tring to sell. Not many video out there on all the ins and outs because lets be honest, there is always some loud mouth that ruins thigs for everyone for some views and attention and then we cant have nice things. Happens every time. You all know what i am talking abort
