Let's turn this into a sub series "cooking with Papi" or "Papi Cooks"
Yesssss Papi Cooks
Also - one other random thought - I like to put a thin smear of jalapeño cream cheese on/in my grilled cheese sammys. It makes it creamier and gives it a little kick. Totally worth it, especially since I always have a tub of jalapeño cream cheese in my fridge for my bagels.
that sounds great!
That sounds good
Swiss cheese is my husband's favorite, and has a surprising cheese pull to it. I also like to use hot pepper cheese for some kick to the sandwich.
Kraft singles r my childhood fav grilled cheese and I think my fav for grilled cheese. Great memories with my gma making these
Martin's and Hellmann's. Papi raided my pantry. Fave combo is pepper jack and swiss.
Guilty
As a kid who went to catholic school and had to bring my lunch every day, my mom made EVERY.GODDAMN.SANDWICH with either a Martins potato roll, or Martins potato bread. I have been scarred for life. I havent bought potato bread in 20+ years, and I cant even stomach seeing the packaging. Just seeing that load of Martins bread on your counter gave me the shivers. (Note: She also packed me a box of YooHoo every day, so thats something else that I cant stomach anymore)
haha oh nooo then no Martins bread for your grilled cheese!
Team Thick here, always 2 slices. If I make a grilled cheese it better be extra cheesy. If I’m feeling extra fancy, I add a slice of provolone. Triangles always.
Thicc squad for life
Mayo makes it easier to get even browning since it spreads easier. On the other hand though you lose out on the flavor of butter which to me is an integral part of grilled cheese. I've always used the Kraft Deluxe cheese for grilled cheese and we've always used two slices per sandwich.
Their premium stuff is def the way to go over these, but hey they're classics
Just had grilled cheese and tomato soup on Friday. Love grilled cheese. I grew up on Kraft singles but never buy it anymore. I get American slices from either the deli or a local cheese shop. My Mom and I always use 2 slices. Grilled Cheese is a staple for us. My Mom abides by Lent so I make meatless meals on Ash Wednesday and then on Fridays. Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup is a favorite besides fish fries or my Oriental Orange Shrimp Lo Mein dish. She prefers American but I will combine like A Colby and Havarti Dill slice or American and Muenster. I like doing Ham & Swiss grilled cheese as well. I've never thought to use Mayo. Always used butter. Definitely going to try it with the Duke's mayo.
Ooh grilled cheese is the perfect meatless alternative!!
My answer for favorite cheese for Grilled Cheese is...I don't cook so whatever I'm served.
Safe Journey!
CHOLULA!!!
haha easy enough!
YUMMY, IM PICKING UP THE THICK
Thicccc cheese🤤
I'm going to have to try the mayo instead of butter plus I recently tried gouda cheese & love it. I am going to try it with the mayo for a different take on grilled cheese.
Def try it!
@@PapiEats ❤
You're doing the lord's work, Papi haha
I could get on board with that idea
Yep, the thick one is definitely the winner. It's what I currently have. Mayo is what I use too, so good. Now I definitely gotta make some for lunch tomorrow 👍🏻 You're an awesome cook Papi. If you have a gf, she's lucky to have chef Papi! 👌🏻
Haha Aw thanks. Nope this cheese is allll for me.
That was a fun one!
It was fun to film. Thanks Mike.
I love Colby Jack on my grilled cheese with tomato basil soup on the side ;) ! I liked the comparison video by the way. And duhhh more cheese is always better.
That sounds so good right about now. And thank you!!
Using mayo for grilled cheese and similar other applications is a genius move. You get even browning and avoid burnt butter.
I use Velveeta cheese for my grilled cheese. 🤷🏻♀️👏❤️
kraft deli deluxe american cheese is my go to
Simple grilled cheese will always hit!
This was super fun- I agree with some below- add a bit of flavored cream cheese or jalapeno jam!!! I had to come watch this after the JJ video where you said "Uploaded a grilled cheese vid this morning, so thats where my lifes at" LOLOL
I always add two reg. slices and sometimes cut a two thin slices of tomato and place inside after you cook it, I like the Kraft Deli style cheese for sandwiches they are not individually wrapped. Cheers Papi.
Oooh tomato. Yes please.
That bread is so good
Like to see you use or make some other items with different cheeses and others things. Think it would kind of interesting
Wat up! Love me classic grilled cheese and t soup on my school days.
Heya papi 😊👍I haven't had a grilled cheese sandwich for a while always good after a couple beers
Allllways hits the spot after a few beers!
Cut diagonally makes it inherently taste better….❤❤😂
hahaha fact
Is this an ad? Production value is 👍
Hahaha no but I was hoping I did a good enough job someone might think so🤣🤣 thanks for confirming!
Ya know?? I’m a dry toasted grilled guy, aka not the big crust. Am I weird for that?! I just find I can get get more melty cheese in the toaster oven. 😂
I’ve gotten the thin ones before, they’re fun to eat as is haha… my grilled cheeses are a smorgasbord of whatever cheeses I have in my fridge… staples are always white cheddar, Swiss, Gouda, sometimes American… I duno why they’d make so many thicknesses tho.. maybe for babies??? You know the first “solid” food I ate as a baby was a Kraft singles hehehe.. ahhh now I gotta go buy some. Oh and props to potato bread 🥰 sooo goood and fluffy 🤤
hahaha cheese for babies. What an untapped market.
My husband uses smoked gouda 😋
Yummmm
Oooh new cheeses! Papi I use butter I HATE mayo
haha no mayo for you then, butter it is!
Papi, what’s goin’ on, brodie?! Maaan, I know people love their Kraft American cheese, but meh, I was never really a fan of packaged cheese growing up. It just....didn’t taste as good as fresh American cheese from the Deli (Boar’s Head, Land O’Lakes, etc.) haha
I’ll admit the game changed once I switched to deli cheeses
Good video
Thanks!
Papi, the thin cheese would be an diet version of an grilled cheese or for a sandwich with lunch meats. I typical use the sliced deli style cheese you get in the cheese section for sandwiches, does really well for an grilled cheese or if you put an slice on bread & melt under the broiler in the oven for about a minute, Uhhh cheese toast. I would never buy the thick cheese you showed for a grilled cheese sandwich, would make it too gooey to eat. about over cooked the 2nd sandwich, I don't like burnt edges on anything including steak. Figure since you lived in the south now, you would switch to Dukes mayo, you should try it.
The Duke's tubs at Costco were too large, went with these. I usually go with Duke's. Good stuff.
I do mayo inside too but I'm a fatty 🤪 usually ill do grilled pimento cheese or use havarti, gouda something like that, but there's nothing like a classic grilled cheese made just like this (but with duke's!)
Can’t say I’ve ever tried one with mayo inside haha
why doesn't anyone else put mayo on the inside of the sandwich. that's where it's great.
I mean that's a bit much for a grilled cheese with no additional meats or anything in my opinion. But you do you!
This video was so cheesy! 😂
No pickles?
Is that a thing??
Ultra Thiiiiiicccc
Yeahhhh buddy
=8-p. “pasteurized processed American cheese food.”
Good enough for me lol
@@PapiEats I grew up on Velveeta… Mom would never spring for the real thing. =8-/
Hey use ham or bacon even better.
For sure!
While I understand kraft is trying to stay relevant, but do we really need this? Like if u want more cheese just add another slice, u want less just use half a slice. But hey, that's my opinion.
I feel ya, I guess they see a market for this
Those “cheese product” slices are gross compared to the real cheese slices. I haven’t had the imitation stuff since I was a child.
The ultra thick kind is AWFUL! Tastes so weird.
Nice to see Papi knows about the mayo. I always use mayo instead of butter, its so much better
100%
