This is also a low-key “Andrew Cooks A Lot Of One Ingredient” episode, because we now know what Andrew would do with 20lbs of lettuce: he’d put it all on a single sandwich.
Andrew says his sandwich makes up for inconsistent proteins... but getting a good avocado and flavorful ripe tomato is way trickier than pulling cold cuts from your fridge. Their reliability is why they are the go-to sandwich filling. Whereas every time you buy an avocado, you're not buying an avocado... you're buying the *chance* to buy an avocado.
I found it funny that Andrew was the one talking the most "trash" and then, he was the one coming up with the trickiest and, honestly, most underwhelming sandwich of the 3.
Oddly enough I used to make a similar sandwich to Andrew, but with this costco cibatta buns. I never had the best of the best veggies laying around but it worked.
My two favourite moments: Andrew: what is hard cheese? Sean: like... um... Not soft cheeses. ...and Sean: *talks about how his favourite sandwiches don't have so much vegetable that he feels like he's eating a salad* Andrew: *puts a salad in between two pieces of bread*
Agree. I don’t think the time limit really adds anything. Also, if they plan on doing different foods in this same format, there’s no way to do literally anything else in three minutes. Maybe a thirty minute time limit if they have to have one?
Depends on what bread you’re using. Inga used a baguette for her sandwich so there was no need to toast it. Even then most people don’t toast bread either for sandwiches. Especially if they're meant to be served cold which was most of these sandwiches anyways .
Seeing their sassy sides is such a breath of fresh air! I love the calm and chill vibes of the channel but this new series has a different appeal to it! 💗💗
I love this concept, but I think it’s important to give yourself the time to properly prepare the food. Either giving yourself more time or no time limit at all would improve the format. I would love to see how the coleslaw was made, allow you to toast the bread if needed, properly seasoning the food, NOT FORGETTING INGREDIENTS etc. that way you’re actually presenting the best possible version of the food, not the one you can make fastest. The frantic/fast paced energy seems to go against a lot of what I (we?) love about your content. Again, I absolutely love the concept, hearing everyone’s subjective opinions on thing like this is so fun, the banter/roast is entertaining, and everyone was a good sport about it!
Totally agree! That was fun for a change, but here's why I don't like it as a format: - Nice people trying to trash talk each other... it's just not believable. 😆You can totally tell that they're cringing inside and even apologizing in their heads as they try to say mean things to each other. - I've never liked time-restricted 'competitive cooking' since it reminds me of reality TV and the very selfish win-at-all-costs mentality. - I much prefer the usual tone of ATE which to me is calm, considerate and thoughtful cooking with a side of learning and delight.
the only possible reason i can think of for the time contraint was so that everyone's opinion and memory of the food wont fade too much as the next person is cooking and so you can make the best comparision, instead of perfectly making the sandwich and waiting 10-20 mins before each dish, and since they want the format of 1 goes after another, having long cook times in between might not be viable
I personally also think that Inga’s sandwich seems much more convenient, quick and also would hold well when it’s on the go. I think the 3 min might be tight. 10 min is enough to toast and prep. I also think maybe a score out of 10 for each person makes sense so it would be a possible 20 points for each person. But a great first episode!
I think this could be an interesting series without the time limit. The time limit I think forces you to rush it. Oh, and they broke this rule anyway but unlimited questions. I want all the answers about the food. 😄
I would do maybe 10 minutes next time? Just to allow time to formulate your perfect dish. The 3 minutes is so frantic and I’d want more of an explanation during the process lol
Yeah if not 10 then at the very least 5. Cuz I get wanting to stick to the argument of "a sandwich should be something quick and easy to make", but 3 minutes is definitely way too short.
Inga's sandwich is what I'd like to eat. Andrew just piled up a bunch of lettuce & supermarket bread without any dressing. Shawn's sandwich seemed to be wet, charcuterie board comparison was totally adequate, but it did seem promising. My vote: Inga, Shawn, Andrew.
As a french person I felt a tiny part of my soul leave my body when Inga scooped the inside of the brie like it was cream cheese leaving the rind on the side :'-)
I was shocked to see Inga eviscerating that cheese and spreading it like Nutella, leaving the white mould rind like it was deBrie. It doesn’t go with the cultured Europhile image she projects.
Inga & Shawn: doing their best in 3 minutes Andrew: today I was *going* to make an idiot sandwich but apparently there’s already 2 here. Now marvel at my 🥬 lettuce🥬
Definitely vote for Inga but the failure in all these is these options is that the bread should be toasted or grilled! 3 minutes puts a really hard stop to a great sandwich!
@@3973555 By fresh I mean it was baked and purchased that day in which case, there is no need for toasting. No reputable bakery would sell a day old baguette.
Out of the three, i think inga's would be the only one I would truly make/order. I really like a nice french bread, brie, and fig jam. I really don't like an over saturation of strong sauces/being too wet. Andrews is nice and easy but the imagination of eating it specifically seems a little on the blander side, maybe a layer of sauce on the other bread might help.

Great episode. I thought Andrew's sandwich was really interesting, and I thought it would be awful. The sloppy joe one looked great, but there was no way I would make that. Inga's was the best because it seems delicious and something I would make.
I love that all of them are the softest and most open to discussing a difference in opinion and have been pit against each other 😂 it makes their arguments so cute and funny even though they are trying to be so assertive
Inga's sandwich looked like the one I most wanted to eat. Jambon beurre are fantastic. Not sure I have a go to, but in summer, I do like a plain tomato sandwich, possibly out of nostalgia. It's much simpler than Andrew's sandwich, just tomato and mayo on white bread.
Sandwich #2 was so interesting! I've literally never heard of a sloppy joe that wasn't shredded sweet meat (sometimes in a chili) with a bit of coleslaw oozing out of a burger bun. Cool to see such a radically different take on it!
"But is it supposed to be THAT wet?" loved this so much. Also, to add on what people below are saying about the time limit, I think having a time limit is fine since it grounds the competition on a leveled playing field, same goes to any limitation may it be easily-sourced ingredients etc. As long as its reasonable, for example having a time limit of less than 30mins to make a sandwich should be adequate enough and that it has to be made in front of the judges. But all in all, would love to watch more of this format, the disses are all so good and fun. It adds a bit of comedy to it which we all need with food anyway.
I appreciate them showing their opinions on each other's food, but it would've been even more accurate had they omitted the time limit since it could distract them from their presentation and preparation. Love the work as always
Andrew is dissing Inga for buying nice toppings...As if he grew all the salad by himself...😉😄 Inga, maybe mostarda di frutta is an alternative to fig jam.
When he said "sloppy joe" that was SO not what I was expecting. Sloppy joes here in the midwest are very different. As in, browned ground beef in a savory/sweet tomato sauce served on a hamburger bun.
Inga's face at 6:41 is priceless! I just love Inga's energy so much and it's super fun to watch :) Maybe I'm biased but Inga's sandwich is the one I would go for as a regular, but definitely would try Sean's sloppy joe and Andrew's garden salad sandwich as well LOL
Laughed at Inga frantically lunging for the salt during Andrew's sandwich portion 😂 Motivated not by helping Andrew have a better sandwich, but for her to have a better eating experience? Lol!
I am student, South-East Asian, and my sandwich is usually my lunch. I felt the need to preface my go-to sandwich with that because it is mustard (preferably Indian, but honey mustard also works), hamburger (the patty), kimchi, and cheese (store bought cheese slices are fine) between two slices of shokupan (Japanese white bread).
What a great prize! I love this but the time limit has gotta go. Also I would have picked Inga. Charcuterie is amazing. The only way to improve it is with really good bread.
Inga definitely has the best sandwich concept here. Sean’s probably needs better execution or bread or both, but is a good flavor set. Andrew’s sandwich is a fundamentally flawed idea. A sandwich is at its best when it’s not time-sensitive, but he’s making it out of exclusively time-sensitive ingredients.
The best sandwich i've ever made had a sauce made with egg yolk, mayo and ketchup. On top i had tomatoes, minced garlic, oregano, salt + pepper. I used toasted butter bread. Very simple, but effective.
I've had a version on Sean's sloppy Joe here in jersey. instead of roast beef, it was cornbeef. it's definitely one of my favorite sandwiches and if it's made right it's not "too wet" lol!!! nice job Sean
Yum, yum, yum. I love a veggie and cheese (feta!) sandwich with soft whole-grain bread. I love a ham and cheese sandwich on a baguette, but without the sugar. I don't love a sloppy sandwich. Andrew wins!
I strongly feel that Sean is a great addition to the presenter line! Coupled with Inga's down-to-earth vibe and Andrew's fresh sassiness, we have a winning combo!!
One of my new favorite segments! I want to make Ingas. But props to Sean for the cool sloppy Joe. More time would be nice but it was kinda fun to see them run around lol. Love About to Eat :))

I LOVE this new show. The roasting itself makes it worth watching, on top of the sandwich ideas😂
When he said "sloppy joe" that was SO not what I was expecting. Sloppy joes here in the midwest are very different. As in, browned ground beef in a savory/sweet tomato sauce served on a hamburger bun.
Inga's face at 6:41 is priceless! I just love Inga's energy so much and it's super fun to watch :)
Maybe I'm biased but Inga's sandwich is the one I would go for as a regular, but definitely would try Sean's sloppy joe and Andrew's garden salad sandwich as well LOL
Andrew's sandwich is the kind I have eaten throughout my life, minus avocado and lettuce, but it indeed tastes incredible..
wouldnt mind a longer time limit! love seeing yall IRL making your fave dishes
Lol, without question, Inga _ALWAYS_ wins for me. ❤
Best show names are "food for thought."...or "eat your feelings."
Laughed at Inga frantically lunging for the salt during Andrew's sandwich portion 😂 Motivated not by helping Andrew have a better sandwich, but for her to have a better eating experience? Lol!
Gosh I love this new segment. Card board sandwich was the pinnacle!
So, the 3 mins is not to make the sandwich, but to assemble the sandwich.
Andrew reminds me of a teacher grading his student's presentation, its that same look I remember from school lol
Hey, anyone know where Alvin went? I enjoyed him.
He went to work for Babish
What do you think the meat is made of 😂🤣😂. They enjoyed him too 😜
This was chaotic and fun. More videos on my desk now, please.
I vote for all the sandwiches. They all look delicious
i love this series, we need more playful bickering amongst friends in regards to their 'favorite' food stuff made under stress
The last guy talk the most. And he made the worst sandwich who wants no meat !!
He made a salad with two over sized croutons lmao😂😂
Great informal format, varied and also fun to see you dunk on each and laugh with each other!
"Strong Opinions" only works for Andrew. Love Inga and having Sean in the show but they have no saltiness to them.
🤣🤣🤣
This show is gonna be the time for everyone to roast each other 😂😂😂😂 love y’all ❤️
Inga definitely has the best sandwich concept here.
I've had a version on Sean's sloppy Joe here in jersey. instead of roast beef, it was cornbeef. it's definitely one of my favorite sandwiches and if it's made right it's not "too wet" lol!!! nice job Sean
thats not a true sloppy joe though.
Inga's sandwich definitely looked the best. Please make this into a series! I love seeing Andrew diss people.
Yum, yum, yum. I love a veggie and cheese (feta!) sandwich with soft whole-grain bread. I love a ham and cheese sandwich on a baguette, but without the sugar. I don't love a sloppy sandwich. Andrew wins!
Why did i first think Andrew was gonna make a pickle pb and j
This feels a little pointless in its current form, but it sure was entertaining. A fun watch, id like to see it developed more.
I actually really love this video and this style. Please keep this series
