Not sure why could you not fly to Dubai and take a bus to Abu dhaby. Always best to keep 2-3 day stop in transit country also you might get travel insurance. Harassment is only in Indian airports always
Never buy a ticket from third party ever always book hotels right when you land at destination but keep one day booked for immigration. Try to buy US travel insurance with some sort of covid protection. Your friend can get a us add on credit card for you and then you bit the insurance on the card and some cards have free built in travel insurance
Us customers usually get refunds for tickets purchased in USA cancelled by the airline by law

Varun frankly speaking the situation around world is very unstable and unclear for travellers. Media prints something and ground reality is something resulting chaos and hardships for travellers. It was a very unfortunate event that happened. We all are very glum too but it will never be the same for the disappointment you must be feeling, it was a whole new trip you were looking for, we all were looking for. But what's done is done. So, don't feel down. Sometimes unpleasant thing happens for a reason. Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans....in the meantime we will really be happy if you explore India for a while, till the situation gets better. There are a lot of places in India we would like to see through your lenses.

One rule to follow is to always check with the airline without fail before booking, one week before the trip and then again the day before the trip if they would allow boarding for the destination and what the rules are specifically for them. This has helped me a lot while travelling this year.

I had the exact same experience on September 2, 2021. I had a flight from Mumbai to Abu Dhabi and onward to
Frankfurt from Air India & Etihad respectively.

I completely understand what you're going through. Its been over a year and I'm yet to receive my refund of upwards of Rs 50k from eDreams, booked using Wego. They only have a UK number but no resolution.

Choosing the service provider's website over any third party website for flight ticket booking is a very valid advice. Last year I used Third party and it took almost an year to get the money back. A little extra is worth it.

Hi Varun, sad to hear that. Traveling is unexpected now a days. Come to oman, its open for tourism and safe compared to other places at the moment. Full of nature and surprises! You can plan Oman for 15 20 days, then you can travel to European destination what you have planned further through pegasus airlines, which costs very low.

You might have gone to Dubai; you could get entry in Dubai as you have US visa and then go to AbuDhabi by a cab; but not sure what time was your connecting flight from AD to Kiev

I work with British Airways and I know how Airlines are having their own policies in this pandemic and transit from AUH is mostly not allowed.
Beware of booking tickets through a third party as they will not give you your money back!! So I can understand your pain Varun. Things are very uncertain nowadays. Its better to wait for the restrictions to lift off.
Ethiyad is allowing u travel and transist through Abudhabi . Depends the demands destination point and layover time too.
Am traveling on 16th via Ethiyad to Dublin , transiting at Abudhabi for 2 HRS. But i cant see why they wont allow me as i have EU resident permit too.
