Happened with me while I traveled to Toronto with a layover at London Heathrow, met one elder woman coming alone from Jalandhar, I saw her weeping as her confidence broke down due to the strict checking at London Heathrow. Me and my family tried to calm her down and didn't leave her till she was calm and gained her confidence back and smiled again. I was thinking the same of having such a platform to avoid such situations in the future thankfully it has come from your side.

Apart from Airline/Airport spl services, why such outside platforms are not accepted easily is because of the lack of genuine people being there, many platforms are prone to scammers who misuse the situation. But I really hope this group is away from such people and there's actual help reaching the needy!

When my parents first travelled back to India from USA , I just came to India along with them so that they don’t face any such problems. I believe people living in USA and Canada at least earn this much that they can afford this expense. Nothing is more important than parents.

Heartwarming story.. i once helped two punjabis bhais in belgrade airport in filling the immigration form . They were hotel workers in cyprus. It felt good. Then i lost my gopro in Belgrade. Went to albania.. was heartbroken. Had to reorganize my trip but ittefaq.. due to reorganization i got to meet Mountain Trekker varun sir himself in Tirana..

This is what I always do... Seen many old people travelling within India for the first time and not knowing where to approach in airport. Always request all our friends to help as someday our parents may need similar help.

Its the fault of children who are letting their parents travel alone, not the airlines. Our older parents travel between USA, Canada and India and we make sure we help check them in or accompany them ourselves. There is meet and greet service. The children have to blame.

I don't want to side with United or any western airline - but it is not in their culture, to help the elderly, like us. i am not saying they are bad people and do it intentionally, but that is how they are brought up. We, as Indians, are brought up differently. The elders in their society dont want help - and here, our elders bless us and smile when we help them. they will not help unless you ask explicitly. I also want to add that they have some kind of superiority complex (which i must say is really bad).
Koi bujurg akele hai aur airport wale help na kare ya koi help karne jaye unke saath battameezi akre bahut hi galat hai. Aap hamesha sabko help karte ho, agar sab aisa help karne lag jaye to koi problem hi nehin rahega kisiko akele travel karne mein. Hope woh daadi ji thikse pahuch gayi hai jaha jaana hai
Don’t blame the airlines only. The kids who invite parents on difficult itineraries with multiple plane changes are equally to blame. You can’t expect everything to go as planned and there will be missed/delayed flights etc. Knowing that they still take a chance hoping someone like you will come to their aid. If you love your parents and they are not equipped to travel alone, go and bring them yourselves.
Services are available at All major airports. Problem is people don't care to look for the same at right place. Each airline website has those details. In India, vistara, air India, indigo and Adani meet and greet services are available. Similar meet and greet services can be booked for connecting and destination flights also outside India.
Most of the time the family members of the elderly passengers do not know that such service is available and can be requested from the relevant Airline staff.
Thanks for making such a group to help older people. I'm also above 70 and find difficult to travel from Lucknow to Bangalore with my spouse. I am glad that you have felt the difficulties of older people specially in international travel.

Gujarati community have a Facebook group so they often coordinate their elderly parents travel with someone on the same flight. Other states/community should set up such community groups to support each other! ❤
actually dont send them alone because they dont know english language and airline staff dont know our language. and some times there is very small layover gap for our connecting flight which our parents do not manage so this problem aries

dubai airports have these kind of services called marhaba. honestly it's a huge relief when my mother travels alone to and from dubai coz they take care of you from the point of disembarking through to the exit.
It's so sad to see that this generation adults don't think twice before sending there elderly parents on a long journey alone it's so sad to see elderly people who can't speak or understand English in airports confused and lost.. All airlines will look ways to cut there cost down and that's were this elderly parents become the victim.. Look it's everyone has their own reason as why they sending there elderly parents alone? But just think for one moment put yourself in there shoes how would you be felling.. It's working in Mumbai, person with wheel chair is standing outside the airport they will make you sit on the aircraft and the other person with wheel chair will attend on the arrival, obviously it's chargeable and for domestic only, they will help you in check inn as well
My mom cannot travel anymore due to health reasons but as she got older, my brother would fly from US to bring her back and forth always. I never travel United Airlines at all, when I did, they always used to get delays and overall, the flying experience, their cabins seemed much lower standard. It’s worth spending a little more and sending senior parents on a higher grade airlines. This kind of experience can be very traumatic for seniors.

For an elderly flying alone they should be sent by direct flight. United Airlines have a very bad reputation in terms of service.
They should’ve booked direct Air India flight to Toronto, but in order to save some money they booked a connecting flight that too by United.
I’m flight attendant and always make the extra effort if I can see a passenger is struggling with English. I speak Punjabi and try my best with Hindi as well.

It's working in Mumbai, person with wheel chair is standing outside the airport they will make you sit on the aircraft and the other person with wheel chair will attend on the arrival, obviously it's chargeable and for domestic only, they will help you in check inn as well

My mom cannot travel anymore due to health reasons but as she got older, my brother would fly from US to bring her back and forth always. I never travel United Airlines at all, when I did, they always used to get delays and overall, the flying experience, their cabins seemed much lower standard. It’s worth spending a little more and sending senior parents on a higher grade airlines. This kind of experience can be very traumatic for seniors.
