Hello Gamer Heaven, I followed your instructions and came up with a few bumps which I solved and hope others will learn from my discoveries. Used the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (4x16GB for 64GB total RAM). System: Alienware R14 Ryzen (AMD Ryzen 9 5900 (12-Core, 70 MB Total Cache, Max Boost Clock of 4.7 GHz) So at first the PC would not even see the new RAM. I unplugged the power cord from the rear of the PC, removed the MB Battery, waited a few minutes then inserted the four sticks of RAM, then re-inserted the battery. This enabled me to get to the "BIOS has changed" screen. Here is where it deviates from your instruction... After getting into the BIOS settings, I changed the "AUTO" setting to "CUSTOM", filled in the pertinent Frequency of 3600MHZ and set the power at 1.36V, clicked on "save and reboot". The machine shut down but NOTHING happened. No happy electrons flowing through semi-conductors, I mean NOTHING. The PC didn't even power up. Evidently it didn't like something in the new setup. Unplugged from the PC, removed the MB battery, waited a few minutes, removed and reinserted the RAM, powered up and I had 64GB of RAM but running at 2100MHz. Went to REDDIT and found that the frequency needs to be divided by 2! On the BIOS settings, where you put in the Frequency of the RAM, use only 50% of whatever you're trying to upgrade to. In my case, I kept using 3600MHz and the machine didn't like it one bit. I read in another post here that you take the desired frequency and divide by 2. So I did that, used 1800MHz instead of 3600MHz and inserted the desired power of 1.36V, left the other settings at 0 (tCL, tRCD, tRP and tRAS) saved and rebooted. BAM!! Running at 3600MHZ with all four slots used! Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (4x16GB for 64 GB of RAM) 1.36V

Amazing help. Thank you. And thank you for your humor. It is both spot on, appropriate, and made me laugh throughout my new RAM install. Now onto your SSD upgrade video. Cheers, my dude!
Thank you for this video, I am using it to learn how to open my R11 and install the ram (as well as clean the dust) I myself had gone with Kingston Fury Beast (x2 32gb sticks) I was going to go corsair but dell states fury and xmp as the supported types (I know it works with corsair via your video) but my local store has a "if it works with our PC's but not with yours, it is not defective no refund" so I decided to play it safe and buy the Fury type. Thank you again so much for the video, I am very computer illiterate and this was very easy to understand with how you were explaining everything and how you have everything time stamped so I can easily find what I am looking for on my phone while doing this.
I'm a little late to the party here, but I can speak on why people make a big deal of working on the Alienwares, which is that in the case of memory specifically, not all memory is fully compatible and may not reach full speeds. I literally just spent a couple hours scouring the internet to see what all is compatible, and the answers seem to be pretty inconsistent. Appreciate you doing this show and tell though. Helps to see the RAM you used and that it actually works in a real world scenario.
Subbed. Keep up the content. I’ll be getting an Alienware R10 in the next couple weeks (my first prebuilt) because I can’t get the parts to build my own for reasonable price. Plus I can get a 17% off employee discount :) to further my $$$ I am thinking of doing a certified refurbished, which would give me a 3080 system for about $1600. The only drawback would be if I added an extra fan and extra thermal paste on the GPU, I would be voiding a warranty on a refurbished PC
THANK YOU. And whoever said to take out CMOS battery for a few minutes. I doubled my RAM and now have 32 gb and finaly won't have to worry about games. :D The usage kept steadily hanging on 50% idle and 70% doing light games, but anything like RLcraft, Ark, etc it was 90%. Time to test the new stick now. 👀👀
This guy does a great job of showing you how to get it installed and all but there are many and I mean many of us who did exactly what he did and are having issues. XMP seems to either cause no booting or complete instability when working. I had to put the ram sticks in slots 3 and 4 to work and turn XMP off all together to get stability and it to even boot. Issues I had were blue screen restarts, and games in playing instantly closing without a crash warning or even a freeze. I mean instantly on desktop. Tried it with many games, and all the same result. Turned off XMP and haven’t had any issues at all.
Holy cow! You've given me so much information I love it! I'm completely new to the PC community and I just purchased the R12 3070, I would love to learn more about what I need to upgrade and also down the road how to upgrade into a better gpu!
I'm not sure if you can fit anything better than a 3070 into the r12. The newer gpus might be too big for the case, unless you remove your gpu fan. The 3070 is still really good, it will seldom bottleneck your gaming experience.
I probably should have looked this up before hand, but I'm thrilled to say I not only had the same motherboard, but got the same replacement memory 😂 thank you.
Hey thanks man. After all the hate I regularly hear about incompatibility on Alienwares this vid helps see things clearly. 1 of my factory Ramranch sticks took a fat shat yesterday. Was feelings pretty butthurt before finding this vid. Liked and subbed. Thnx again.
Somehow bought the same ram, then watched this video. Pisted my r12 and ran fine. Played some games for bout half an hour then one stick failed and hit blue screen. It would post with one of them installed alone, but not the other. I did update bios and other recommended drivers before the crash. Is it likely I just had a fluke bad batch of new ram?
Really enjoying your channel. Waiting for my Alienware PC to come in a couple weeks. Do you have any videos on Understanding or taking advantage of Overclocking, My last PC was made for overclocking(ABS brand bundle) with MSI components but I never used it.

Love the tutorial, however; you missed the part about resetting the CMOS battery. I installed my new RAM no problems, but my monitor couldn’t pick up a DP or HDMI signal. It turns out you need to take the CMOS battery out, let it drain for a few minutes, and then put it back in. That fixed the absence of display issue!
I have the Aurora with Ryzen 7, installed these same ram sticks in the video and selected OC1 in the BIOs performance options to get the correct speed of 3600mhz
I know literally nothing about PC stuff but I have an R12 with liquid cooling. Anything I should do differently before opening it up to upgrade my RAM? The 16GB just isn't doing it anymore and I'm definitely upgrading to 32GB at least but purchasing 64GB ('cause y'know, ARK: Survival Evolved).
What kind of fans did you get for all 3 fans? I just bought one of these, and got the Corsair rams you used as well just want to see what fans you got and should be complete. Also recommendation on the heat dispersing paste let me know. Good vid
I am running 4 Sticks at 64GB and what a nightmare for 3600mhz though. It could be ok on your side but 11th Gen Intel you need to disable all ACC components (this causes RAM Error Loop) change the XMP Profile in BIOS with one stick. Reboot and shutdown, now wait 5 mins and take out the original stick and add one stick at a time, put all back together and reboot then should be good to go.
Hey man, my mother in law has the same PC with 11th Gen Intel. From Dell it had 16GB HyperX 3200mhz ram installed, I had her order identical RAM, same brand, style, speed an CAS. Well she installed them lastnight, PC booted fine, ran fine all night and she was stoked. Then Alienware had an update lastnight which worked an she shut down the PC until today. It would not boot an just got stuck in a memory error loop. Removed the new sticks an boom, booted no problem. I had her go into BIOS an try to turn off the XMP, boot then shutdown, install new RAM an reboot. Now it works, but if XMP is on it won't? The hell am I missing here?
@@riverwarts9084 it’s a mix of things I found. Find out what BIOS it has updated too, look at putting 3 of 4 in and see if it boots even with XMP on, I’m awaiting a new motherboard because even with 4 the same thing happens for me now.
Thank you thank you. You’ve helped me a ton. My daughter and I both have R11’s and I upgraded her ram from 2933 to 3200.
The usage kept steadily hanging on 50% idle and 70% doing light games, but anything like RLcraft, Ark, etc it was 90%.
Time to test the new stick now. 👀👀
Thanks for your video.
I ordered an Aurora R12 RTX 3090, 4 TB, 128GB XMP at 3400hz. Can't wait till it ships at the end of the month.
Kevin you have been a major help for me and I can't thank u enough....
Btw I bought the same PC as you at the same time as you did! Highfive 🙏
@@andreykravchenko6829 ayyye! I actually sold that and upgraded to a 6800xt! Absolutely beast of a pc
Thnx again.
Yes finally another Alienware video
bought an R10 Ryzen 9 5900X & 3080 .. new fans already ordered 🥴
@@CheeceerLP I actually just got a R10 Ryzen 7 5800 and a RX 6800XT ill be ordering my new fans very soon lol
@@BuRstGuardian nevermind, my r10 came damaged so i had to return it.. i now reordered a new one with a 3080ti.. hopefully this one comes in one piece
@@CheeceerLP lol now you've got me worried I hope mine doesn't come damaged 😅
Somehow bought the same ram, then watched this video. Pisted my r12 and ran fine. Played some games for bout half an hour then one stick failed and hit blue screen. It would post with one of them installed alone, but not the other. I did update bios and other recommended drivers before the crash. Is it likely I just had a fluke bad batch of new ram?
I did it today. Working better now. No problems so far. Thanks
Thank you for this video. Just replaced the ram in my R9 by following along :)
I bought mine with 32 gigs. I don't see needing more but if I change my mind this video is a godsend. I wouldn't of known to do this.
Thanks! This will make my late-night "Alternative Cinema" viewing much more enjoyable...
I have the same setup you do and followed your instructions and my computer won’t turn on. I was wondering if I can get your assistance?
CPU-Z is another sure fire way to find authenticity of RAM speeds/channels/timings
I'm coming to this video on an R 15 for reminders of steps
Really enjoying your channel. Waiting for my Alienware PC to come in a couple weeks. Do you have any videos on Understanding or taking advantage of Overclocking, My last PC was made for overclocking(ABS brand bundle) with MSI components but I never used it.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I NEEDED TO KNOW HOW TO MOVE THE FAN THING TO GRT TO THE MOTHERBOARD
Hey thanks for this. I have an R11. Haven't upgraded it yet but I do plan on it. This will help, thank you.
This tutorial was very simple and easy to follow so I thank you good sir for this!
Did u ever upgrade to 64 gb ?? I was looking forward to that and wondering if u gotta do anything different when installing.
I have an R11 i7 10700 10 gen and tried the 4x8 (32gb) 3200mhz and doesn’t work. I just buyed the ram that you are installing in this video hoping that it will work. Thanks for the video.
That fixed the absence of display issue!
hey can u help me! installed new ram stick and got no display, took it out now i’m still getting no display with the blinking yellow light
@@DavidGonzalez-mh8pf also you said “new ram stick”, did you only have one stick of RAM in there?
I am beyond frustrated. I just did this cause I’m upgrading ram from 16gb to 32gb 3200 Corsair’s and the monitor still isn’t picking up
@@yakemabrisman7600 , taking out the CMOS battery didn’t work?
Hi, whenever I add more ram into the pc all I get is no display and a yellow light that flashes 4 times
The 16GB just isn't doing it anymore and I'm definitely upgrading to 32GB at least but purchasing 64GB ('cause y'know, ARK: Survival Evolved).
seems easy watching you do it.
Your made stuffing two holes look easy !
Waiting for my same new ram to come in gonna throw it in today hopefully
What kind of fans did you get for all 3 fans? I just bought one of these, and got the Corsair rams you used as well just want to see what fans you got and should be complete. Also recommendation on the heat dispersing paste let me know. Good vid
Has the Marine Corps taught me to always say to me and I say to you outstanding Marine, outstanding.
But try the 3 then choose whichever XMP has the highest speed setting. Also ensure that no settings under Alienware Control Centre are being used either make sure on the main screen that Overclocking is Off
Appreciate this video im getting a new ram today
PSA IF YOU HAVE RYZEN EDITION R10:
The memory speed will not change unless you go to BIOS > Advanced > Enable OC Feature > Memory OC (Mem OC1) > Save and Exit
Thanks, my speed and clock latency were worse than they should’ve been, this fixed it! Default was OC2 in BIOS, switching to OC1 fixed everything.
@@CompromisedMilitia did it keep giving a black screen?
Did this, but I’m now using 3600 MHz and memory speed is only 3466 MHz
Nice just finally getting different sticks for my r11
It fckn killed me to see him pull out that electric duster and proceed to YEET potentially years worth of concentrated dust hotels into his computer room.
Excellent video man, really helped me upgrade my R11.
Thanks for the video, made the swap look easy. I do have one question thought. On Dell website it does not list any RAM supported at 3600 speed, the highest shows 3400. Is there something else i need to do to get it the 3600 work on the R11 or should i find a 3400 ? Thanks again
They used to all be 3600 mhz on the upper end models
Would the basics of this video relate to an R4 as well? Looking to add/update my RAM for the first time.
Oh, awesome videos, but sometimes you're talking a little too fast...I am going on 70ty, so I need to slow things down so I can catch it all. But still nice info. keep up the great work.
Thank you so much man! My editing software kept chugging when I had 8gb but then I got 2 16gb rams, but had no idea how to install them. You rock brotha, take my sub and like heheh
from the standard Hyper X 3200 to the LPX 3600, is there a noticeable difference/worth it? Very interested...also is this the highest spec you can have? I check crucial scanner and it indicated up to 4400mhz? Cheers
i need to add more memory to a Alienware R13, I9-12900kf unit, it has 2 16gb 4400mz dual channel know. What do you recommend for and upgrade brand?
Hey man, thanks for the video. I just ordered an R10 Ryzen 5900 with a RX 6900 XT from Dell. Will the RAM sticks you have the link to hit 3600 Mhz automatically or do I need to select an XMP Profile in the BIOS?
Bro this video is amazing. Will this apply to an r12?
I just swapped my ram and the pc won’t boot. The Alienware logo on the front is showing yellow and keeps cycling through and doesn’t boot. Any ideas? It does the for the factory ram and well as this ram you suggested on this video.
When I go into performance options overclocking is disabled and I don’t see xmp😢
Love your channel !!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a question if its possible to change the motherboard in R11
Hey Kevin, will those work in this Kevin's R10?
Great content man. Keep pushing
This guy is amazing. Helped me lots!
I just upgraded my ram with 2666MHz ram but the bios is still showing the old speed (I cant remember what it said without boing back in and checking).
how do I change the ram speed?
Hi there, I just ran across your channel when looking for solutions to my Alienware Aurora 8 problems and I wondered if you had any thoughts on what I should do to achieve better performance? I currently have installed 32 gb of Ram and have Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 3600 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) as a processor & NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
. I had my graphics card replaced but it wasn't upgraded and I am still having many issues with doing Motion Graphics in After Effects and was wondering if there is a way to fix the slow down and not running issues? This only happens when using After effects or an intensive memory hogging Adobe Software. I would appreciate your input. Thank You! R
I have an R12 and want to add these ram sticks. But Dell says that only 3400mhz is supported on the motherboard. Will these work?
Just upgraded my ram from 8gb to 16gb. Went smoothly, thanks.
For an Alienware Aurora R5 which one is better from these two Corsair Vengeance (4x16GB), the 2400 or the 3200? Thanks for the video. It was funt to watch.
You can only use 2 ram slots at once.
😂 can’t believe he blew it out indoors haha
I wish you had the one i got without the water cooler or copper pipes because then youd make a cool tutorial. Trying to figure out what the best way to do this. I really dont want to have to remove the motherboard and replace the clamp
I hope you see this I am getting a Alienware aurora R16 will the R16 be the same for memory upgrade??
when are we case swapping??
JFC, thanks for the tips, much appreciated - but take that thing to your garage or porch or someplace before blowing out the dust. Not even sure I can finish watching now! LOL
How do I know what ram I need? I have the r12 16gb 3070 fan cooled. Which ram do I need exactly
I’m gonna get me one of those electric blower/dusters and when I use it, I’ll have my vacuum hose in the other hand to suck up all that nasty dust!
I have bought 2 sticks of 16G each for dual channel 32GB. I currently have one that came with my Aurora R10 of 16GB which is not dual channel. Can I put this non dual channel third stick in for a total of 48GB, or will it hinder my dual channel configuration with the new sticks? Thanks!!!
Hi Kevin
I checked the specs for my r10.
Says 3200 or 3400mhz is the ram to use.
Is your pc the same?
what if my memory speed doesnt automatically match what's advertised?? in the bios menu it reads 3467 MHz but it should be 3600. i have an r12
I’m looking to upgrade from 16gb to 32gb on my R11. It’s ok that these sticks are 1.35v compared to the 1.25v sticks that come with the desktop? Thanks for the amazing content!
Hey im thinking of getting my first pc in November for my birthday my ram is going to be at 128 gb dual channel 3800 mhz with my aurora r12 with i9 with rtx 3090 just curious if that would be decent or do u think i should do how you’re doing here & putting new ram sticks? Tbh you got me scared of not even booting up my r12 until the cooling modification lol 😅💔
good video! i threw 32gigs of gskill 3200 ram in my R12 because i had it in my old machine. I was hoping that it would be compatible with the stock hyperX ram, but it wasnt.
So I have the R12 with a 3070 in it. I upgraded to two sticks of 16 gig and when I booted back up it’s saying my memory speed is only 2133 how do I make it 3600? I bought the same exact ones. However, it shows 2133MHZ on the task manager. How Do I fix this?
I have an R13, which says that it’s max clock speed is 4400 MHz, but I didn’t see that when I bought 2 6000 MHz 16 GB Ram sticks.
