@@DawidDoesTechStuff can you do a comparison for us olds that explains what the different series cards is good for? I know you’re about games, but which are better for editing, for CAD, for VR, etc.. Your knowledge seems copious and I live for the metaphors
@@markfriesen1435 I will give you a (maybe not 100% exact) explanation. So the gt series was meant for games, but since most of them were released in 2009-2012 or so, they aren't keeping up well nowdays, even though they were good for their times. You can find them today in some older laptops/PCs but they are not worth buying anymore if you want to game. The GTX(maxwell/pascal arhitecture) lineup , is also meant for gaming, they also do well in video editing. These cards are still good today(except de GTX 1050 2gb, and the 1060 3gb, because they have vram limitations). If you want to play recent games the gtx 1070 and 1080 are gonna hold up well. The new turing gtx cards(1650,1660 are pretty good 1080p gaming cards too). The RTX(turing arhitecture) lineup ,along with the 20 and 30 series are really good for gaming and streaming because they have onboard encoders(the gtx ones also have them, but they are slightly weaker). The rtx lineup does really well in video editing too. The titan cards (gtx titan, rtx titan) were just as strong in gaming as the best card from each lineup(rtx 2080ti-rtx titan) because the only difference between them was that the titan had a lot of vram and a few more cores. So, the titan cards were specially made for heavy video editing and some 3d modeling (all sorts of content creation). The Quadro(Pascal/Turing arhitecture) lineup was meant for extremely heavy modelling, rendering, editing, and all other sorts of application that need a lot of Vram. These are more dedicated to those programs than the titan cards, the Quadros being the best for editing. The gtx/rtx for gaming/streaming. The titans for a mix between gaming/editing. The gts for very light gaming or web browsing. For VR the gtx and rtx cards will do their job really well.

The liquid cooled cpu option manages the temperatures dramatically better. There are known cooling issues with alienwares fan cooled cpus since the power supply basically covers it completely

I have the 750 or 850w power supply and liquid cooled intel cpu, basically maxed out at the time. Using the lower slot and removing the lower ssd brackets, plus the stock aurora vented side cover seems to be giving plenty of air flow to the gpu. No problems so far (knocking on wood). From this video the latest aurora layout seems to be the same as the previous gen.

@@djbrokoly3909 got my 3070 just a couple of days ago and haven’t had a chance to use it much yet. It has no problem driving my qhd at 165 FPS with doom at highest settings. Haven’t had a chance to try rtx titles yet. Regarding the bottom trays, they’ll be pretty close to the bottom fans of the 3070 founders, best try it and keep a close eye on the temps. Personally if I need more storage I’ll get an external enclosure.
This is close to what I did with a 3070 in my R7. I7 8700, previously replaced stock CPU fan with Corsair AIO. Front HD replaced with a Noctua NF-p12, under load CPU/GPU ~75 C, idle ~45 C. other add ones m.2 Samsung 970 pro, added 32 Gb different branded on top of the existing 16, PSU swapped for a Corsair 850w. And stacked like 4 ssd various older drives for a 1Tb of pooled storage and 7200 2tb disk storage. Not pretty to look at, odd memory config, but runs stable. Lots to to criticize there, starting with why not build from scratch lol
The guy who I bought my first pc off of had helped me get parts I needed for upgrades and hit me up first when he got his hands on this exact 3070 around the time of this video I love it it works amazing for me.
I got an Alienware R11 with a 3080 and it ran at 75 decibels only 5 min into playing a three year old game at medium settings. I returned it immediately. I really really wish there was a quiet, cool, high quality prebuilt that existed.
just did similar things. After removing the OEM front fan, I replaced it with a NOCTUA 120mmx15mm slim fan, it actually fits in with my 3 fan 3070 and works great (still plenty of space between the card tail and the fan).
The problem with prebuilds is they tend to put the bare minimum in to meet the advertised spec, and the biggest saving they make is the PSU. I can't count the amount of times someone with a prebuild that's tried to upgrade and found it doesn't work, and when i've looked at it i've found the reason it isn't working is because the prebuild PSU is something like 200w and they're trying to add a modern GPU to it lol.
Besides your great contents, I solely watch your videos because I love your sense of humor and I decided to subscribe to your channel only after 2 years. Keeping it coming mate lol 🥰
I have an Alienware aurora r9, top option of it’s model. I got some of the best parts and it works amazing. It barely ever freezes or crashes and I always get quality graphics and my FPS is always above all of my friends. Alienware is an amazing brand and take it from me.
So like 20 years ago I guess. Though even then they were considered as over expensive for what you get so I don't know if they were ever considered top of the line gaming rigs. Dell's purchase and restructuring of the company made them what they are today though, parts got cheaper and cheaper and more corners were cut.

Well, its 2021 and a rtx 2060 is 600 dollars and a 3070 its 1.1k. And last year he was complaining about a 600 dollar 3070… Sad
I love how unusual the videos are, but it always feels vaguely useful. I'm sure there's someone out there genuinly considering something like this. It's crazy and weird but it'll work.
You nailed it.
Plus his low key humor. His is favorite pc Tech tuber.
Just got my R10 in a few days ago, bought mine with an RTX 3080 installed. So far it's been awesome! The liquid cooling isn't too loud at all but I do have the computer a few feet away hooked to a TV.
If you have the liquid cooled options then its awesome!
Glad to hear your enjoying it. 👍
I just ordered the R10 with the RTX3080 in it. Should arrive early april. I'm kinda hyped, but also concerned...this is my first pc that was THAT expensive :/ I hope everything works just fine
@@midnight5895 I'm still really enjoying mine! The only drawback I have is that the Overclock Settings on my unit have been totally unreliable and resulting in crashes, so I do not use them at all. My system is still really powerful enough on it's own but its a shame the Overclock software doesn't seem to work well.
3070 founders edition fits perfect in the lower slot after removing the lower drive brackets for better air flow.
I’ve just bought one!!, was thinking the same, use the second slot!! is there any special config I should consider?
@@djbrokoly3909 I have an aurora previous design from 3 years ago and just replaced the stock 1080ti with a 3070.
@@nicoscoolvids Love to hear that!, in my case, I have occupied both ssd brackets, is it really necessary to remove them?, with the 3070 did you perceived a good or a awesome performance boost?, thanks.
Help I've been binge watching this guy for hours now.
Let’s go my mans Finally is getting some recognition
Do you know if you could add another fan in the drive bay above it, also do you have a link to the fan you used is it that black one or brown one.
the 3070 is already 4 years old??? that is insane
Can't believe how good the thermals are on the 3070! Nice experiment!
That shroud is calling out for a dremmel.
This brings me back to the good old days of cramming big power hungry GPUs into a dell optiplexes before I was old enough to know what TDP means.
Love the vids could watch this man for hours
The problem with prebuilds is they tend to put the bare minimum in to meet the advertised spec, and the biggest saving they make is the PSU. I can't count the amount of times someone with a prebuild that's tried to upgrade and found it doesn't work, and when i've looked at it i've found the reason it isn't working is because the prebuild PSU is something like 200w and they're trying to add a modern GPU to it lol.
use the bottom slot for the GPU. it fits internally better and you can get a slim fan to support putting the side panel back on.
the bottom slot only runs at 8x or 4x pci-e not 16x
Put the alianwear in the 3070 next
Yes
You can remove the front panel on that chassis and put the front intake fan on the outside of the frame then put the front panel back on.
I was going to try this. Did you know for a fact that it fits or are you guessing? It didn't look like it had enough room. Thanks in advance.
Besides your great contents, I solely watch your videos because I love your sense of humor and I decided to subscribe to your channel only after 2 years. Keeping it coming mate lol
🥰
Brilliant video dawid
now put a 3090 in it
I have an Alienware aurora r9, top option of it’s model. I got some of the best parts and it works amazing. It barely ever freezes or crashes and I always get quality graphics and my FPS is always above all of my friends. Alienware is an amazing brand and take it from me.
I remember when having an Alienware PC meant you had a top of the line gaming rig... yeah... not anymore.
So like 20 years ago I guess. Though even then they were considered as over expensive for what you get so I don't know if they were ever considered top of the line gaming rigs. Dell's purchase and restructuring of the company made them what they are today though, parts got cheaper and cheaper and more corners were cut.
