Just got my R12 with 3080 yesterday and completed all cooling mods, using 4 Noctua NF-A12x25s, 2 in the front and two on the top in push/pull configuration. I actually pulled the other side/front of case so I was able to use the rubber mounting accessories for the 2nd front fan. I also put Noctua thermal paste around the GPU heatsink. Running NiceHash 97MH/s and average GPU Junction temps of 78c. CPU temps around 50c while mining. Great videos and info to get my system set up. Thanks!

Good video. That water cooler on the cpu and the second fan will work wonders for its cooling. The Alienware Aurora R11 engineers should not have the customers developing a fix for their poor lack of cooling the pc.

Also you mentioned about replacing the AIO fan. You do not need to take the top panel off. There is a cage that will slide out with two screws. One is near the left most ram slot at the top of the case, and the other is on the far left of the bracket. You'll have to un-do the CPU power cable and remove them from their cable mgmt grommets (there are two, one plastic and one metal) for clearance. Good luck.

  • @Metoobie
    @Metoobie Год назад +3

9:00 The down arrow indicates the direction in which the fan blades rotate. Lose the cage and attach the fan directly to the chassis.. but use 2x40mm or 1x80mm fan(s). The 120mm fits, but the case blocks the leading edge of the fan, which is the part that produces the most velocity. Use non-flammable tape or make a custom plate to block the rest of the holes. The empty holes reduce the amount of thrust that your pull fans can create. Cheers!

first time viewer here and i feel it'd be a disservice to both Gamer Heaven and anyone watching for the first time, like myself, if i were to click off this video before expressing my gratitude. not only was the video very helpful and informative, it is also made in such a relaxed and straight forward manner. no unnecessary over-editing, no filler bullshit just to extend the runtime, and leading the video is a seemingly knowledgeable and charismatic host that is both articulate and precise with his explanations while also keeping them in lamen's terms as much as possible to accommodate less tech savvy viewers. i specifically applaud these attributes because they are seemingly lacking in a lot of other similar style videos ive seen. but at the risk of glazing this guy even more than i already have, i'll just sum up this whole spiel in a couple words: good video.

This is a poorly designed PC case, the small side vent shares the air intake with exhaust from the GPU, you can feel that the bottom it's cooler than the top of that vent, and to make it worst it's circular, this vent should have been rectangular and covering all the PCI chamber and also no restricting the intake, you can see how dumb it is, when you can compare the external plastic vent which it's round and the internal part of the panel it's rectangular but it's not even covering the circular part. I made a chamber for the GPU to separate and keep the front cool air away from the side exhausted hot air, this just improves my VRam temperature in 4C, at least allows me to keep the RTX 3090 running without throttling, also I added the top fan but nothing really improved still I plan to keep it in case the RAM needs some cooling.
I created a profile where the front fan it's spinning faster at lower CPU temps so more air can be taken by the GPU.

Anytime you hook up a 3pin into a 4pin connector, the 3pin will run at 100%. So naturally the top fan is going to blow more air than the bottom since it's running at full speed.

    • @buflen

In this case, yeah because it is paired with a PWM fan on a splitter. But it's not true that a 3 pins fan will always run at 100% into a 4 pins connector. The 3 pins fan can be controlled by voltage and you can do that on any 4 pins connector on MOST motherboard. Not sure for the aurora because of AWCC.

Everyone replaces the dell fans in their Alienware PCs, but the thing is is that they are server fans and can do like 4000rpm and can move a LOT of air. The trick really is to figure out the maximum speed you are willing to listen to (for me it's like ~45%) and then use the thermal control to scale that as the maximum speed. The OEM fans at 40% move way more air then standard replacement fans.

A few days ago I ordered a R12 3700 with the intention to mine crypto. Later that night I did the research I should have done before purchasing it, and subsequently ran across your videos. My device doesn't have the liquid cooling system and like I said is only the 3070. In your opinion, would it be smart/feasible to install a liquid cooling system? Or would it be worth it to return it and buy a 3080 with a liquid cooling system? Granted I think they said I might not be able to get it until July... Love the videos any help would be greatly appreciated!

glad to stumble across the channel and video as a new R11 owner (slammed that like/subscribe button), was a little disheartened to see how hot the computer was getting and unsure how to remedy the situation.. looking forward to what the addition of a fan will do
is there a reason why you didnt wedge the HD in the bottom left, does it need to remain locked in the brackets? could you simply place it or is there a reason to avoid doing this

Hey guys so I did this now and essentially what is happening is the PC thinks that there is still o ly one fan in the front even though there are 2. In other words, the fan control looks like it is one fan but you're controlling both front fans together if that makes sense.

Thank You for finally getting to this. When you repasted your GPU, did you see any thermal improvement compared to your video that showed no gains?
If you did get better thermals on the GPU, what changes were made from the video you took?
I’m definitely adding another fan and replacing stock going forward. Up in the air on the Push/Pull AIO project. But plexiglass for the side? Meh. I wouldn’t go that route myself, the power supply is unsightly and takes the entire upper portion of that case. Are you just going to open the lower half for the GPU to show? I just don’t see the point with how crammed everything is.
As always, keep up the great content!

The bravo actually fits perfect with the same screws. U just have to bend a little of the bracket in the back to get it past the two little plastic tabs on the bottom of case. Bend has no affect on the HDD sliding in perfectly, and let’s the bracket fit perfectly in the slot. And I mean PERFECT fit.

I was able to remove the 2nd 2.5 slot from the bottom rear and put the HDD slot in its place. Just had to slightly bend the bracket a little in the back to fit perfect. Youd have 1 HDD and 1SSD slot on the bottom.

Do you have more running in the background? I play Warzone mainly in 1440p and my gpu stays right at 70 and cpu right at or above 60. Is this safe?
The only thing I did was make a profile for warzone/CW in the library and set the temp to performance and the power to performance. Other than that it just runs balanced on idle/web use.

I kind of get a kick out of these people, I'd love to see some of them build a 486. These modern boxes are so easy to work on they are self explanatory. Back in the day you had to install a part and then find the right driver and in some cases hope it worked or didn't conflict with something else. Talking about mechanical hdd's like obsolete parts cracks me up. I've been using the same mechanical drive for almost 2 decades, starting it as a primary drive and eventually using it as a storage drive. In the old days they didn't exactly think out how to run wires or fans, but things didn't get that hot. I'm just trying to figure out how to clean my son's r12, I should do a video on that, people would be shocked at how filthy it will be. Maybe I will....

So the issue I have is, I have an r12 with a 3060ti.. and I have two Corsair ml120 (non rgb), and they install them just fine, however in AWCC they won’t go above 32% fan speed. I tried uninstalling and re installing the software, did nothing, and eventually fusion wouldn’t even load. Had to do a factory reset. And just moved the stock fan to the top and used one ml120 on the bottom because my gpu temps are fine but the cpu gets pretty high. The stock fan goes up to 100% just fine, but the ml120 still tops out at 32%, even if I plug it into the 4pin slot on the splitter.
