  • This is a short show & tell on the HyperSonic Sound model H450 ultrasonic speaker. These work by using an ultrasonic beam to excite the air near the listener.

A while back in Los Angeles I experienced a phenomena that steadily over time took its toll on my mind eventually destroying everything else that made me who I was. I stayed angry and hateful towards everyone around me. I cared for no one much less myself. Hard drugs soon became the only tolerable way I could deal with the phenomena that nobody else claimed to hear. It wasn't schizophrenia because I only heard it in a specific place. Outdoors on Beaudry, the street between Wilshire Blvd & 6th Street running parallel to the 110 Harbor Frwy. Unfortunately I was homeless living in a tent constantly hearing variations of the same thing always at a low volume and always on Beaudry. I'm embarrassed to reveal how long this went on but the drugs, the fact nobody ever admitted to being complicit in other ways and most importantly I had no info to search DTLA central library's available computers. I know what it was now. If only I had found out in 2005 instead of 2016 my life would have not been so messed up and wasted. Holosonic Sound is more of a potential weapon than a useful technology in my honest opinion.....

So THATS how the house down my street, around the corner, across the next street & then down a few houses is shooting out the music from their Christmas front yard display & then I only hear it in my back yard from a couple short streets away!!!... yet when I ride my bicycle past their house on my way home from work at night & they have everything lit-up, I don't hear ANYTHING until I get home... they must be directing the sound to go up slightly & bounce over all the surrounding houses roofs...

What are those two large gray boxes in the background? Are they some kind of meters or amplifiers? I read that you could add an amplifier to this model speaker. If so, how would it be connected?

Drew Mason Hi Drew, those are general purpose power supplies. When I first got the H450 I did not have it's transformer / wall supply. So I grabbed those off my test bench to check it out. The yellow device is showing me the exact voltage I have the grey boxes set to. The very small grey box behind it is an .mp3 player. There is an amplifier for this speaker built inside the speaker, I've not read about using an additional amplifier with it. BTW I later bought a much smaller supply just for the H450. There is a link to the supply I bought in the answers below. Thanks for watching and asking.

Hi Bobby, love how clear the video is, I’m looking to buy the exact same item this week but I have little electronic experience. Is it just a simple matter of plugging it in and connecting it to a CD player ? Thanks for the video, exactly what I was looking for .

Hi - We're cleaning out our basement, and want to sell this exact model. Glad to sell it to you inexpensively. Thanks

How is the volume on it? Does it sound like a little transistor radio when you are out in your yard? I have the same model and it doesn't get very loud, you can hear it over a long distance but the frequency range makes it sound small. Even close up it sounds like the volume needs to be turned up. What is your experience?

+S Craigs Volume is pretty good. In the video at one point I mention that I can hear the music echoing off the fence behind me. Perhaps you can turn up the volume of your player to drive the HSS more. Is the power supply you have the original 48V type.

+Takai2012 The power supply matches the labels on speaker so I assume it is. The volume was much better in the night time and the most impressive aspect was the distance it was going through trees. The directional capabilities are really apparent outside, with a lot of distance between the listener and the speaker. It does take on a strange effect of the volume remaining the same no matter where you stand for the most part. Inside of the house there are just too many reflections to really get the directional concept of silence outside of the focus point of the speaker. I was hoping I could isolate sound into an area inside but that seems hard to do. It even reflects off things like pillows and blankets. Wonder what material absorbs ultrasound. I can see how this product wouldn't really deliver the silence aspect in a museum or retail setting. For Halloween I think the magic happens if you can beam sound in a place nobody expects a speaker. Otherwise being closer to it, it just sounds like a very cheap speaker with no low end.

I purchased two of these a couple of years ago, but mine did not come with a power cord. I had to rig one up. Where did you purchase your power cord from, if you don't mind me asking?

Most of the noise in the background are cars on a busy road nearby.

I Believe it's ultrasonic sound u don't need to do a sound range
    Ultrasonic is basically echolocation
Echolocation can go on for a
    MILES LONG
it can be heard through water good source of music when ur in the pool because u will always hear it even through water
    Try it I did it
    It actually was impressive
Ultrasonic sound is used by whales that travels faster then regular sound
And it has better quality at range to well because once I hear the sound no matter how far u hear the sound as long as u are in the range it is clear quality until ur out of it's range
