Just wondering Andy.Do you get special dispensation for riding during lockdown or are you just sticking 2 fingers up at this ludicrous lockdown especially as we bikers have more protection on than your average UK resident.?
As making videos on RUclips is my "job" and I cant review bikes from home, I am within the rules riding for the purposes of making videos. I have taken legal advice on this. I haven't ridden my own bikes (or any bikes) for fun since before Christmas - which is gutting as I've only been able to ride the Goldwing I bought once so far!
@@TheMissendenFlyer
Why don’t you just do a comparison video between the Trident and a Goldwing? 😏
If only you could get your hands on a Goldwing on such short notice 🤷♂️
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks Andy.Keep up the great work.As mentioned by a few on here its only your videos that are keeping half of us sane till lockdown is lifted and we can get back out there.Only fellow bikers understand the freedom riding gives us and its why we love it and do it .
@@TheMissendenFlyer you can make a second channel and vlog on it on whatever bike you want
dear mr curtain Twitcher. You may have missed the Stasi directive that makes WORKING a legal occupation during lockdown and believe it or not riding and reviewing motorcycles is what this guy does FOR A LIVING. I know that must upset your Communist complete obedience narrative and ideology but hey we all put up with curtain twitching snitches like you who do not seem to have any social life without making a big deal of it
No doubt you are one of those terrified pathetic individuals who have bought into the project fear campaign and drive about in your own car ALONE wearing a mask to comply with a non existent law LOL
GET A LIFE !!!!
Is it just me but the rear mudguard number plate holder is a great idea, revealing the beautiful backend of the trident. Thank you TMF, keep up the good work with your honest reviews
OH YES, been waiting for this review for a while. My Monday morning is a lot better now, thank you sir!
My pleasure!
I like the rear mudguard and number plate holder, leaves the tail section looking like a piece of art rather than having a number plate rudely hanging off and ruining everything
Having lived through my “bigger is better” phase, I hope these incredible “middleweights” are a harbinger of things to come, especially as experienced and highly skilled riders (and influencers like TMF) take up the mantle.
Oh yes. I’ve been waiting for this review from you. Can’t wait for more.
Thank you Andy! I’ve been hoping you would put up a first ride view (in the usual way)! Looking forward to watching the next instalments of this particular bike! The fashion show at the end is always a highlight! 👍😎🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it! ......and thanks for sticking around to the bitter end!
Destined to be Triumph's biggest selling machine I think. 👍👍
I think you may be right Richard......
I agree. If it had been available in June 2019 I'd have bought one, and also saved quite a bit of cash over what Triumph managed to sell me !
@@karlosh9286 what did you buy? Street Triple RS?
@@MGman100 in 2019 I almost got a Street Twin, but eventually chose the Speed Twin. I couldn't even get insurance quotes on Street Triple RS's, I'd only just past my test as an early 50 something ! This would have been cheaper than both of them, and probably easier to insure than the Speed Twin, and faster than the Street Twin.
A very reliable source from Triumph's U.S. Sales Management Team told me that 50% of the Tridents allotted to the U.S. are already sold. He was not trying to sell me one, he's a friend. So yes, they'll probably sell all they ship here to the U.S.
Just what I need to start my Monday morning! A video from TheMissendenFlyer!
Morning Steve!
@@TheMissendenFlyer great review tmf would you say the xsr is on par with the trident 660 only asking because I just can't make my mind up between the 2.
Another great review Andy and by the way saw another one of those Red Kites behind you when your telling us about your trousers ! Keep up the good work.
Yes those things are everywhere!! Well spotted...
Thank you for the vid. I got a notification this morning and I was eagerly waiting to finish work and get home to watch it. As Dave said in his comment, I'm so happy with this review, waiting for more of your Trident vids. In the meantime, I am also eagerly waiting for my bike to arrive and ride 😊
Congratulations on the purchase!
That engine sound was sent straight down from the heavens
Was not really impressed with the looks at first, but saw it at a local dealership last week. Definitely looks better in the flesh! The tail looks really neat in particular, they did not slam on just a piece of plastic as a mudguard but the actually put some lines on it. And it eliminates the need for a costly tail tidy, with the benefit of not having a wet back at the end of the day :)
Your videos are gold as always. Especially in times like this. I'm literally riding trough your eyes despite the lockdown.
That’s great to hear, thank you....
The review I’ve been waiting for! Thanks TMF
AMAZING AND INFORMATIVE THANK YOU 💯
I love the fact that in every video where you wipe the helmet camera, we get the pov of that camera. There's something I quite enjoy about that, though I can't explain why. Love the video. 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
Great review, tip of the cap to Triumph for building such a fantastic motorcycle!
Good to see you out and about again 👍
As always great video! 👍 Keep it up
Thanks! Will do!
Good honest review really enjoy videos thanks very much
I like it and think it actually looks better than their more expensive offerings. I like the headlight more and the gauge pod looks neat.
Thanks for the great video as usual! Really gutted to hear that Mrs Flyer couldn't flat foot on this bike as it was one on my list.. will give it a go at a Triumph dealer anyway.. can't wait for lockdown to be over so I can get my mod2 done!
How tall are you Alessia?? We were gutted too.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer I'm 1.62m or 5'3.. but I have the Daytona boots that give me an extra 2inches. Fingers crossed 😜
Great review sounds good love the style just not sure about the back end
Nice to see you out keeping us sane thanks Andy 👍👍🏍🏍
Thanks 👍
looks like a well priced fun little triple !✌👍 thanks for the your first impression's look forward to upcoming videos !
Stay tuned!
Beautiful dash too - love to see more manufacturers not make the dash an afterthought but a part of the design process so that the whole machine gels together beautifully.
Another great 1st ride review, looking forward to the long term ones, really nice looking bike 👍👍👍👍
More to come - stay tuned Pete!
Great review, thank you. Looking to get one in about 18 months to replace my Street Triple - retirement looms so cutting my cloth accordingly. Looking forward to continuing reviews…
Another good honest review, definitely cant wait for lockdown to end so i can get me bike out , fingers crossed for today
29th March looks like it might be the date we are finally allowed out on our bikes again.
Can't come soon enough - desperate to ride my new Goldwing!!
Great review Andy 😀👍 I’ve been looking forward to seeing this video after reading your little teaser comment on Twitter and you didn’t disappoint. I do love the look and sound of this bike, I’m tempted to have a test ride... although unfortunately I don’t think I can justify another road bike. At the moment I’m looking for a second bike with a modicum of off road capabilities to join my T120.
Was without me laptop for a few weeks on account of me spilling tea on my keyboard during an online call for work LOL! Back in business with a new one and this is the first video of yours in said time frame I see! I feel like I know you and what a joy to see you 'working', creating and sharing content with us! I did enjoy your sales pitch at the end! Happy you're able to do that! Very fortunate man! Great vid and great review! No joke your videos bring me joy and a smile to my face! Ok! Fan rant over! Look forward to the next video! Stay well and prosperous! Cheers!
Well thank you very much for such a nice comment! Appreciated (and welcome back)...
very good review ,thank you !!!
My pleasure!
Great video. Can't wait to ride one.
Had my heart set on this since it was announced, I'll be upgrading from a Ninja 250R - thanks for this review! Great to see it on a grey miserable day and not up a mountain in Tenerife while we're not even allowed out haha
Looks good in that colour but I would prefer a rear tail piece and and proper mudguard. Great value and for me by far the best bike in class.
I have been looking forwards to this review. I like the look of the Trident. Love the TFT dash. I agreed on the number plate hanger though. I bet R&G and Evotech have this in their sights though. I great review as usual. Well done Andy.
Yes I bet!
Good to see some confidence inspiring tyres put on as standard for a change! Great review. That bike will sell by the bucket load.
Yes, great in the wet in particular!
I've been waiting for you to do a review on this bike. Really like the depth you go to with your long term bikes. Look forward to a potential review of the new speed triple maybe. Cheers dude ✌
It's on the list for sure!
Excellent! Thanks for the kit run down. Best channel on RUclips.
Wow, thanks - I don't believe it but appreciate the sentiment!
Great review Andy! 👏 haha nice wheelie 🤣
Thank you sir - a little homage to yourself, so glad you got to experience it with me....hair raising as you can imagine!
Great review and I really hope this bike is a success for Triumph. It's good to see bikes of this size coming back into vogue. I'm old enough to remember when the 600 category was the most competitive sector in biking (in the UK anyway) but nowadays manufacturers seen too often to spend all there development budget on bigger and more powerful bikes. Really like that TFT and I'm hoping that it finds it's way onto some of the 2021 Bonneville range.
You and me both!
Hi TMF, watched Lamb Chop on his ride out on the Triumph and you both do fantastic down to earth review ( I know you're mates ).A great new bike from Triumph and definitely a winner. Looking forward to the rest of your long term review. Take care. 👍🏍.
Cheers John - stay tuned!
Weather conditions sound perfect for testing a naked bike. I do like the look of this bike
Great vid. Waiting patiently for my pre-order...
Congratulations Danny!
Great video as usual 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks!
Sportsbikeshop are absolutely fantastic!
Always First place I look for my bike gear :)
Great bike! Looking forward to passing my licence (after this crazy pandemic) and getting one of these for a first big bike! Also can't wait for more in depth reviews
Love your videos! ❤️
Thank you - best of luck and stay tuned!
Plandemic. It will never end.
btw, I prebooked the Trident in December, it's arriving next month, here in India. Can't wait to ride my 2nd bike,
5 months back purchased Duke 390,
3rd bike would be a 2021 V4 Streetfighter but only if it has Granturismo 1158cc engine
@@chirag4 you lucky git! Super jealous but at the same time I'm happy for you 🤣👌🏽
@@KppG-dn6zf thanks brother for the wishes
Wishing u too a bike of your dreams
Thanks for another ride in proxy, It's great to "get out" on a bike again, especially this one which I intend to try when conditions allow. :>)
Great review. Stock tyres and suspension working well on a cold February. Quality build and up to date electronics . Definitely trading in the MT.
Red kite ate the sparrows😂
Andy, Thanks for the review. Well done on missing that crater at 18 mins. 45 secs., loving the Red Kite photo bombing the fashion section at 23 mins. Regarding the not so good turning circle on this and the Street Triple, which bikes have a better turning circle? When covering headlamp performance could you compare it to the twin headlamp setup on your Street Triple please?
Great review and loved how you pointed out the Red Kite. I've never seen one though I have seen a loot of Black kites
That numberplate hanger arrangement is utter gash 😱
Can't wait until the snow melts and I can test ride one in Canada!
Yeah...... we’d all like to test ride one in Canada.
Could you get Mrs Flyer to sit on more test bikes? Handy for us smaller riders.
Great looking bike with the exception of the license plate contraption, the quicker they go the journey the better, I really need to see a full back tyre on a bike, I hope a tail tidy can be sourced eventually.
A TMF exclusive! Was looking forward to this one. Looks as if Triumph have nailed the 'beginner' middleweight segment with the Trident.
Yes I think they probably have - this one definitely moves the needle....
Andy, when you ride in the rain, I'd be interested to know how effective the rear mudguard hanger is at keeping muck off the bike and your back.
Noted!
Thank you for another entertaining and informative review. I really like the bike and I’m looking forward to test riding her next Saturday. I’m actually not interested in buying it since I’m the recent owner of a Street Triple RS but if I was on the market for a simple, easy and good looking machine I think this would be my pick. Ride safe and best wishes to Mrs Flyer for her choice when the moment comes. 👍
Thanks for watching!
Much anticipated review from TMF😀 👍
Well done. This will be a popular bike, and review as well. 👍
Cheers!
First out with a full review that I’ve seen, well done Andy. Many options available which push the price up a lot, I wonder what the Goldilocks spec is for you?
I have to add, that TMF reviews are really good too. If I want to know about any bike i always check if TMF has a video on it...
Another great review Andy, another lovely Triumph too, a mate was going to buy a KTM...until I showed him the promo to the Trident...being an English lad I think he feels overwhelmingly patriotic to get his hands on one of these...haha! Just waiting on my Baker Express Interceptor to arrive in NZ, you sold me on yours. Cant wait to see what you've done to your one.
Neither can I - alas COVID has pretty much stopped play on the RE front.....
Another great video. I may be odd, but I like the back end - slick & ‘GS-like’ (I have a GS & love that look too). A seat cowl & whip off the pillion pegs would complete the look. Keep up the good work 👍
Fair enough!
Reviewers continually refer to it as a beginner bike. I've owned several different styles of bikes over the years. At 74 I don't need a super sport bike and don't desire a bulky cruiser. This is a perfect balance between occasional chats with the local police officer and loud and boisterous bulky cruiser. As good as it is good for the beginner it is more equally good for the finisher. Another great review.
Agreed!
I love the way it looks.. I think the specs are really nice also.. might put me in the market for a Triumph 🤘
Ah, so that's what you were up to when I saw you parked up. Well done for being the first tuber to get hold of one. The bike looked small but maybe because you blended in wearing all black? Great review as always, look forward to seeing the rest.
Excellent introductory review Andy. I'd be very keen to see a close up in depth look at the new TFT in it's workings though. Looks proper, and I WISH Triumph would redesign the layout on the Tiger 900 screen! Ditch that dual rev counter look. It doesn't work and takes up valuable user interface % of the screen. (Make it more like the GS screen, or even the new Indian TFT which looks WONDERFUL! That one has full touch screen control).
i like that the rear pegs are just bolted on so they are easy to remove.
God review🔥🤙
Looking forward to the rest of the videos regarding this bike Andy. I may consider buying it, but on looks alone, it does look similar to my Yamaha MT07 2015. So, I’m on the fence!
What of the GoPro remote button? Did you pair it to yours and if you did, did it work well?
No I don't think this bike has the connectivity stuff enabled - at least I haven't found it in the menus so far (and TBH I'm not too bothered by that sort of thing...)
Hey TMF! One of the best reviews I've seen of this bike, nice one. And I agree with your Tenerrife comments. They were all showing the same pictures and more or less talking about exactly the same things. Kudos to you for organising this long term test in conditions most of us encounter daily. Love the sound of that buzzy triple! Do you think you'll get hold of a new MT07 to give a close comparisson?
Sadly not as Yamaha don't "do" RUclipsrs......bizarrely!
@@TheMissendenFlyer That is bizarre. I guess with 250K sales they don't need the extra publicity? Strange attitude though. You'll have to get a loaner from a mate!
What a great review! Have booked a demo ride at the end of the week and am pretty stoked! A quick question... this verse the 07 what would u pick and why? Cheers man.😁
Great looking bike, agree on the odd look of that rear signals/plate piece (plus can't help but wonder how quickly they'd get covered in dirt and make the signal lights redundant). Love the mention to red kites too! Always keeping my eyes out for them when riding in those ends.
You don't normally have to look too far, they're everywhere!
Two questions Mr Fly, Is the ground clearence higher than that of Street Triple and How is the heating on this?
Love it andy
Hi Mr Flyer. I was wondering whether you are considering doing a review on the Sinnis 380 they have just released ? It is a bike I am considering as a part time weekend toy that is reasonably priced low enough to justify buying one that os not going to get a lot of use ? Cheers and keep up the great work ?
Nothing firm at this stage....it's in the mix!
Get mine in two weeks! Can’t wait!
Congratulations Martin!
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks!
How does the bike handle on highway/freeway speed? Did you notice the handlebars shaking at all or did it handle pretty well?
Great review, thanks Fly, gotta go take a Showa and go to work. Get it. Showa. 😛
Hi Andy feels like I have watching your reviews for ever and a big fan of your level headed reporting u like many others - just wanted to ask that when you do the walk around and praise the tft display it would good if you turned the ignition on so we could see it.
Keep up the good work
Yes good point!!
apologies for typo that should have said "unlike" many others with yehaas and expletives - by the by just bought an indian FTR further in part to your review - great engine!
Looks like a good first 'big' bike, nice review cheers.
Thanks 👍
Great vid
Does it have an oil window or dip stick &!how easy is it to access the air filter and plugs
Nice bike and a nice review as well.
I’m curious what the average fuel economy will be comparing trident 660 and cb650r
Nice review, nice bike. If only i had a Triumph dealer nearby...
I think triumph will sell loads of these, I think it looks a better allrounder than the MT07,Z650, it’s not ugly and keenly priced. Have to agree the sports bike shop are awesome.
Yes I reckon they’re into a winner here...
Single clock looks good. And a fuel gauge! Bike sounds nice and seems to go ok. As you said, engine not as turbine like as the Street Triple but still goes ok. And NO keyless ignition.. What's not to like? Just needs a tail tidy, Like every other UK bike.
Hi Andy. Not a triumph fan but I think this is one of triumph better ones. Love the looks and at a great price.
Great video as usual 👌
Thanks 👍
I suppose with the number plate hanger there are those bikes with this type of fixture attached to the swing arm or those protruding from the back seat to extend beyond the back wheel. Personally I prefer the type on the Trident, it looks neater.
Thanks TMF, been looking forward to your review of the trident for a while. Out of interest you said that with the seat height and your leg (32") that you were feet flat. How do you think a 30" leg would cope with the seat height? On tiptoes or still stable enough? Looking forward to your complete review on the bike.
I reckon you'd be fine - balls of your feet job....
Great 1st review Andy. I think it looks better in the flash than the pre release promo shots indicated....... apart from the obligitory pig ugly number plate mount. £7195 is a great price, well done Triumph, i think this bike will appeal to new and old riders alike, there will be riders queueing up around the block to buy one of these. Im tempted :-)
The 660 reminds me so much of my 09' 675 Stripple. I loved that bike and had it for about 5 years. I might be getting this bike for having fun with. I'm more practical now and am more attractive to retro bikes now. I just sold my 2012 Bonnie. I've had that for 9 years and cafed it out. I'm looking for an exciting new ride now with this kind of power. If only Triumph put this in a light weight, low seat hight retro. That would be my dream bike.
Maybe wait until you see my review comparing this to the Honda CB650R and my 2012 Street Triple (coming late March)...
Another great review, I'm with you unsure of the back end look still ! When is your Honda Cb650r review out? It's gonna be trumpet or Honda for the new ride??
First ride review in its own right scheduled for April 15th - comparison against the Trident before then on March 25th though...
Great video Missy, Jo justjo, my better half has been eagerly waiting for this. She was over the moon when she saw yr video published.
Should drop yr forks, soften the rear sus and shave a tad off riders seat foam and Mrs flyer will be on it in no time. Wouldn't triumph do a lowering kit like KTM do?. Or aren't u in to messing around with bikes?
Great top stuff. Loved it. Can't wait for more about it.
Stay tuned Dave - more to come!
Triumph are knocking it out of the park at the moment.
I watch so many of these reviews that I know TMF’s leg dimensions better than my wife’s! 🤣🤣
:0) Sorry about that - people still ask me how tall I am and what length legs I have despite me saying it in pretty much every review video!
A beautiful bike and beautifully finished, I have ordered a new one but not the Trident but the T100 Bud Ekins, it will be delivered at the end of the month I hope. But I keep my Explorer 1200, nostalgia like your BMW 😃 a top video TMF, as always 👍👌 thank you
Congratulations on the new bike Erwin! Nice.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks TMF 👍😃
Lovely bike. I own a ktm390 duke and watching this reminded me a lot of my little KTM. Would you say this is much of a step up or more of a more expensive alternative?
Very nice review & bike. Surely a class leader with ease & has really thrown down the gauntlet to the other competitors in the class, especially the Japanese offerings. Will be interesting to see how they respond.
I like it but can't forgive that scorpion rear end. Good review again thanks Andy.
