I think it comes from frustration. When I'm frustrated I get angry and when I get really angry I cry.

Ok but I've always wondered: if I cry when I'm watching a movie, my face is fine and after 10 minutes you won't be able to see that I cried, but when I cry emotional tears from an emotion that I experience myself, my face just gets soooo red and puffy??? Has anyone else noticed such a difference??
So True, I bet it’s to do with stress hormone released when stressful emotional real life event
YYYYYEEEESSSSS whyyyyyy?
Our eyes go red and puffy because we usually rub our eyes after crying.
Irritating the eye is the reason for dat
@@bhaswanth6572 eh when i cry i kind of just hug my knees i dont usually rub them
Maybe it has to do with the amount u cry?
When I cry from acting vs when I cry from emotion my face gets equally puffy, but when it emotional my eyes do get more red
This is only anecdotal, but my brother in law is trans, and he said that when he started using testosterone treatments, he noticed that he cried a lot less often. He said that he still felt the same level of emotion, but the threshold to start crying became a lot higher.
that’s actually really interesting
Wait whattttt that makes sense tbh, they should do a stufyv
Thats fascinating! Id like someone to look into that
Yeah. I've had other transguys tell me that
i'm trans and i can vouch for this, its like i physically can't produce tears anymore, even though i'm possibly more emotional than i was pre-t.
As a dude its really hard to cry. Its not like i dont want to but everytime i get sad it just wont come out
This is interesting in combination with another comment here, saying that a sibling felt like it became harder to cry once they took testosterone. They felt the same emotion but there were no tears
So don't feel guilty when you don't cry when grieving over someone's death... I remember how confused my brother said he was when he saw me weeping but couldn't bring out a tear when the bad news came
Only times ive cried in the past 2 years is when I was severely unhappy or grieving over a lost relative, other occasions don't make me cry anymore
Same and i am a woman.
I'm a guy and I haven't cried in a long long time (several years, and I want this to change). The only time I see tears is when I'm extremely tired and have yawned a lot.
I cry at most movies... even the ones that "aren't even cry movies" according to my husband (i.e. action or comedies). What can I say? I'm just extremely evolved.
I cry when the scenes are overwhelming, it's either happy or magnificent lol for example I cried at the beginning of Lion King live action when they sang Circle of Life
Hey same same same! It's such an embarassment 😂😂 And the thing is... I never cry in real life, I'm actually a pretty tough nut😂😂

im trans, and after starting testosterone i do cry less than i used to. i know alot of trans guys who say the same, as well as trans girls who experience the opposite, where they start crying more because of the female hormones
Interesting, I wonder if the social norm is therefore less heavy than we thought.
Makes sense, women tend to be more emotional
Wow that's interesting
There have actually been studies that show testosterone supresses the crying response

I don't know. why do you cry when you see others cry, what was your mental process? I'm the opposite, i get even more emotionally disengaged when others cry, so I'm very curious about this.
Ive heard we cry bc our brains get overwhelmed and crying is the easiest way to release the stress
I think I’m the only one who enjoys crying and likes the feeling of being somber while listening to sad music or movies. I find it cathartic.

Me too! It still varies so much just even in the music realm. Sometimes it’s like a release so I cry, sometimes it’s like the artist has got inside my head and that connection makes me cry. Sometimes it’s just a really sad piece of music 🤷🏻♂️ all good though, personally it doesn’t bother me.

"We cry when we don't have the words to express your emotions"
So, does that mean people who speak languages with a wider array of words cry less in comparison to people who speak languages with a lesser array of words???
Being at a loss for words is not the same thing as having a limited vocabulary. You misunderstood the term "not having the words to express your emotions".
Given enough time and clarity of thought, I'm sure most people can eventually describe and talk about their emotion. But in the moment of extreme emotion, words are difficult to summon.
I know that when I am feeling overwhelmed I am feeling so uncomfortable that my brain cannot focus on figuring out why I'm feeling that way, so I end up crying instead. After I finish crying my mind is clear and can figure out why I was feeling that way.

So we're supposed to feel empathy and wanting to help when we see someone cried, but weirdly enough, seeing/hearing other people cry sometimes can make some people feel anxious and unfomfortable (e.g. crying baby on a plane that everyone seem to complain about.) Why is that?
@Psychosomatrix Actually, that kinda make sense, at least to my personal experience. When someone cry and I feel uncomfortable, my thought was, "Gosh, I wish I could help them/know how to help." My inability to help while wanting to help made me feel restless.
@Psychosomatrix interesting take
I guess the distress makes us uneasy, the crying is so apparent that it’s distressing us as well?
Could be because those who react negatively to seeing/hearing others cry were brought up in an environment where crying was not okay (weren’t taught how to feel, express, or accept their emotions) and/or they learned that there were consequences for crying (rejection of expression: ex.:”stop crying, or I’ll give u something to cry about”). Suppressing emotions often leads to people feeling extremely uncomfortable with their own emotions and others’. The result is consistent rejection of emotions/feelings (especially crying or “negative” ones) from themselves and others’. Especially if they are expressed outwardly (ie: crying)

When my cat was dying last month I felt this overwhelming urge to cry and the tears came out slowly. I never thought there was a difference in the speed of emotional tears versus allergy tears.
That's weird. I definitely cried more during puberty than as an older child. The crying was less dramatic and shorter-lived on average, but more frequent. My number of full-blown meltdowns decreased, but I cried in some manner basically every day. Of course, that's also when my depression started.

So fascinating! I'm an adult woman, and I cry maybe 5-8 times a year. Usually when I feel like there's too much I'm taking on and nobody is willing to help me. My 2 cents. I know sometimes I’ve cried over something like music, not just because it’s beautiful but because I’m almost grateful? a certain piece just exists so I can have an emotional bond with it. It’s hard to explain.

Crying is a great way to finish off all your negative emotions from your mind, and get back on track !
Whenever I cry, my eyes well up, but the tears don’t actually fall down my face. The only other person I know who is like this is my brother. Is there some reason for this or am I just weird?
I hate crying when I'm legit sad or upset at something in my life. That feeling is truly the worst. But if I'm crying at a show or movie, no matter how hard I cry, it's not a big deal afterward bc it was just a movie and had no actual impact on my life. Anyone else crying while watching this for some reason? 😥
My maternal grandmother had Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) she cried inedibly easily. Even in a completely neutral setting like a grocery store or eating lunch if someone looked at her and said, 'Oh love, don't cry.' Even if she hasn't been crying before. Nothing had happened. Just that was enough to cause her to tear up and cry for the next several minutes.
I always felt bad when my grandpa would gently tease her about it at Sunday dinners, which would make her cry, which made him chuckle. I don't think he meant it maliciously. I only saw him do it at Sunday dinners with family: her dad (my great grandpa), her siblings (my great aunt and great uncle), her kids (my mom & Aunt and their spouses) and us, grandkids at Sunday dinner.
Looking back I think he found it an endeering quality of hers-- that she was so tenderhearted. Although she smiled through her tears and handled his 'teasing' with grace, I think it was embarrassing for her. She was a pretty introverted/quiet person.
I'm nowhere near as sensitive as she was, but I wonder if I inherited a little Psudobular affect from her whenever I'm crying at random RUclipss like this. Or maybe it's hormones. 🤷♀️
