Watching this reminded me of a story I found. when they were replacing steam locos, they trialled on of these on the Witham-Maldon branch, on the way back with a goods train it was overtaken by a tractor ploughing a field and the passenger service was held up by at least 20 mins. so yes they can haul trains, just don't expect great speed from them. Great video. keep 'em coming.
Another stunner mate to add to your collection! As you know I'm a big S&D fan, so there is really no need for one, but it is just so tempting! LOL! Wow! That a big pile of goodies to review! Can't wait to see the videos on that lot too!
I once asked you to review the class 03 ages ago in the comments of your class 105 video. Thanks for getting around to it! I'm actually looking at my class 03 now and it's awesome in it's BR green livery!
I had a bachmann 04 in plain green & it was an awesome model, despite being derived from the mainline moulds, it was one of my favourite locos & I love these little things so much I got the locos on TS2014 & they're fun shunters to drive in game
The pipes are as follows: red air brake pipe, yellow main reservoir pipe. There's two sets of these on each side of the loco, I'm not sure why though. Only old 50's and early 60's trains use vacuum brakes. Most trains have from that ere have been converted to air brakes, but some heritage trains still use vacuum brakes, like the MNR (Mid Norfolk Railway).
oh my gerd….. a review vid :D I have my maths final exam for university entrance etc… i should be studying but instead i'm whatching this… hooooray!!!!!!!!! thanks Will
I am 11 years old with a model railway can you recommend a good locomotive for a good price? I love your reviews I check everyday to see if there is a new video
As well as Diesel Mechanical and Diesel Electric, you can also get Diesel Hydraulic Loco's, the BR class 35's (Hymeks), class 42's (Warships) and class 52's (Western) are all Hydraulics, BR however favoured Diesel Electrics so all were withdrawn by 1977.
The Westerns (or class 52s) were so nicknamed as their nameplates always start with Western, like Western Champion, Western Fusilier, Western Ranger etc, they are quite handsome Diesels.
Another amazing Review in your IC82 Series 4 InterCity82 . Well done. I enjoyed every second of it, and I am looking forward to the future Reviews you have to Upload, including the big pile we have seen in other Videos and the new pile you have got to add to the old one as we see in part of this Review when we the Bachmann Class 03 having it's Running Test I am also looking forward to see more IC82 Junior Videos, IC82 The LEGO Collection Videos, IC82 Building a Model Railway Project IC82 The N Gauge Project Videos, IC82 Xtreme Videos, IC82 How to... Videos, IC82 Your Model Railway Collection Videos, IC82 Minecraft: Let's Build Thomas! Project! Videos and IC82 Blog Videos. Also, one Question I have also been meaning to ask you InterCity82 . is: Are you going to Upload any more IC82 Autumn Specials Videos this Year?
Hey, Will, another great video! A correction on the driving wheel, none of the wheels them selves are directly powered, if you notice the power axle behind the cab's foot steps? The gearbox sits under the cab floor, and powers the power axle, which via the coupling rods, turns the wheels. This arrangement can be found on other similar small diesel mechanical shunters, like the 06. I have experience in driving what is basically the industrial version of this loco, at the Dolgarrog railway. (www.dolgarrograilway.co.uk/ photo here)
Anna Ruybalid I love my 03, same BR Weathered effect dcc chipped, you will love her I use mine for shunting coaches around or the odd passenger train also brought from S&J models
hi ya mate another great loco review from yourself iv never thought aboutone of these before for my model railway usually gone for 08 and 09s but might go for one of these this time hope your ok peter
With risk of sounding boring, the 'Cogs' your talking about are actually called gears because the cogs are the teeth on the gears. That is why it's called a GEAR box.
Sir your track layout which you show your locomotives on really dosent do much justice to the fine detailing that the locomotives have. Do you have an actual model layout?
You're trying to watch it TOO early! lol It takes a while for RUclips to make 720p and 1080p versions available. Trust me, they are always available after a short while. Try now and you'll see.
P.S I have read an article in a magazine about how to DCC Soundify this particular model. If ya want to know more than just message me and i'll give you the details of the magazine name date etc and i'll help you to find it on an online store etc….
Yeh… I'm not too sure about an online store though. It was in Hornby Magazine july 2012… i might be able to scan the article and send you a digital copy on skype or something… (you've already added me on skype btw)
Beautiful little thing! It is full of detail, they did a great job on making it.Congratultions on getting it.

thanks for the comment! Very interesting!

thanks for the comment matey!
Mavis was a class 04 that was modifided for quarry work and shunting
She also has cowcatchers and side plates just like Toby.
Excellent opening, such a mighty grunt from a small loco.
I know, I couldn't believe it really. Totally unexpected. But nice.

I want it so much!

I don't know why they changed and I'm not a master of air brakes but I know vacuum are fail safe
GWR5124 so are air brakes check wiki for more info en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway_air_brake
Another fantastic video well done.
oh my gerd….. a review vid :D I have my maths final exam for university entrance etc… i should be studying but instead i'm whatching this… hooooray!!!!!!!!! thanks Will
Wonder little locomotive. Nice review. Thanks for that.
Cant wait for the next video!
I was planing to get one of these. Realy helpful review
thank you for the comment!
The detailing is awesome! You should do some more american locomotives. Maybe even a Climax!
How much did you pay for it? I found a weathered one just like yours for £60, is that a good price?
You deserve a million subscribers you r amazing
The cylinders are for air, dual braked versions have these in pretty much every available space.
It's Mavis !!! But non class 4 one
I'm sure this is a class 04...
Another great video....... thanks Will :)
What about the cross country voyages? Are they diesel electrics as well?
InterCity82 . A great review mate! Such a lovely loco, especially in that livery! Such a tiny little thing yet so grunty! LOL!
thanks for the comment and yeah it does haha
Its Brilliant, i'm hoping to get one but i wasn't sure if it would be worth the price, this review really helps, good one Will! Cameron
Does the Class 172 DMU have the same epicyclic gear system then? coz they're geared units
I am 11 years old with a model railway can you recommend a good locomotive for a good price? I love your reviews I check everyday to see if there is a new video

no need for the apostrophes my friend! But yes you know I'd love one of them hydraulics. Were some of them called 'Westerns'?
The Westerns (or class 52s) were so nicknamed as their nameplates always start with Western, like Western Champion, Western Fusilier, Western Ranger etc, they are quite handsome Diesels.
its great to see some vids again will
yup, another one in a day or two as well!

That little diesel is amazing :) the detail on it is great I am so getting one, are you going to the NEC railway exhibition in Birmingham?
No I won't be there but I hope you have a good time if you go!
Great video Will!
Bachmann 03 or 08? Which do you think is the best shunter of those? I'm thinking of getting one of them for my layout, but don't know which.
I've got a video coming up in a few weeks... Battle of the Shunters! Stay tuned!
InterCity82 . Oooh, that sounds cool! I'm looking forward to that.
That striking caledonian railways locomotive at 22:04!
can you a review on that please!
Why does a diesel have side rods? I find it a little odd, considering the fact that side rods are usually on steamers...
lovely little class 03 by bachmann but can you do a video of the 03 railling stock
??? Class 03s don't have rolling stock...
has issue 4 come out of the modelrailway villge come out yet

InterCity82 . Great review. Will have to get some diesels for my new layout
thanks for the comment! Yes, please do!
ty nice vid this 03 would look nice pulling some Bachmann weathered 16T steel mineral wagon
I like the class 03. I saw the First capital connect class 03 once (03 179).
Hey, Will, another great video!

thanks for the info! At least I know more about the model version haha
No worries mate always happy to help.
you can fit sound in it, look in issue 61 of hornby magazine:)
Could the cylinder be sand? for the sander? and how about the top, as it does look like it is where fuel goes.
you know, you might be right!
InterCity82 . They're air tanks to help the train brake, I'm sure.
Hmm...let's use google, the search engine/website that turned into a verb.
24TrainMan42
I'm pretty sure it's for air.
i want one now that is cool!
Anna Ruybalid I love my 03, same BR Weathered effect dcc chipped, you will love her I use mine for shunting coaches around or the odd passenger train also brought from S&J models
Hi there, I reccomend you getting the NRM Deltic, I have one Myself and It is the best model train I have. I think you would appreciate it too.
hehe thanks, but aren't they really expensive!?
hi ya mate
another great loco review from yourself iv never thought aboutone of these before for my model railway usually gone for 08 and 09s but might go for one of these this time
hope your ok
peter
I'm good thanks, thanks for the comment!
Great!

P.S I may of used your instead of you're
Do an image search for cog tho?
InterCity82 . Ah, yes but that is because of the other people who don't know about the correct terminology.
Very gd review, I want one as always lol, is there a big difference between the 03 and 04?
Thanks Jaike! I'm not sure, but the difference is very small. Look them up on Wikipedia.
awesome
I see a corination class waiting to be filmed! Im waiting in suspence1
you should get silver link it runs smoothly and it has plenty of detail
other wise known as 1100
Nice review Will, will have to look for it in N gauge.
Now that would be a TINY loco lol
Ive driven 03 066 at barrow hill!
My best guess is that those cylinders are for coolant.
Someone has suggested sand?
oh duude! A Airfix loco?? IF its a 4F Fowler I need parts for mine!
cool great vid m8
I have one of them GWR shunter trucks
I find it odd how some Class 03s have the narrow funnel, yet some Class 03s have the wide funnels. Huh. (I prefer the latter)
Nice
Sir your track layout which you show your locomotives on really dosent do much justice to the fine detailing that the locomotives have. Do you have an actual model layout?
in the process of being built
I use the try-ang track cleaner
I once had one but I flogged it. I regret doing that so much
No couplings?!
So every time you want to put it in the box you have to remove the couplings?!
***** Oh I see. But is there space to put the loco back in the box with couplings fitted?
***** That's a bit strange :/
in hornby mag they dcc sound a jinty(3f)
not an easy thing to do either I imagine
lol how true
No 720p?
You're trying to watch it TOO early! lol It takes a while for RUclips to make 720p and 1080p versions available. Trust me, they are always available after a short while. Try now and you'll see.
InterCity82 . I love your videos so much I want to watch them as soon as they are uploaded!
I'm building an 03 shunter in 7 1/4 inch gauge
