New LG Sensor Dryer 6 Months Old Stopped Drying

- We did get it fixed, after a fiasco of events. Noted, I'll not use "Norris Appliance" for anything, ever.... rude.... We looked into an extended warranty to see how much it is, my wife said it's over $400 for 4 years..wow! That's almost the price of a new dryer... why would I buy a warranty spending $1200 for a dryer to last 4 years? If it dies the day after the 4 years, then what's the point???

I have this same issue right now!!
The only advantage I can see having a fuse type thermostat on the inside of the dryer is the reason it probably blown being a clogged ventilation system of the dryer . Opening the unit up gives the opportunity to clean the lint from the inside of the unit . The lint is like a match and ignites very easily . Many a house burned down from dryer lint
Hope you get the high limit installed and your vent cleaned
Thanks and God bless you!
Both electric and gas dryers come with thermostats. My LG gas dryer has three thermostats. Sometimes they're referred to as safety thermostat or high limit thermostat. The thermostats with the button are known as the manual reset type. The thermostats without the button are known as automatic reset. When the exhaust system gets clogged with lint, the thermostat will stop the heating portion from working to prevent a fire. The auto reset thermostats will reset once the temp cools down, but after several cycles of doing that it will eventually die out, which is what happened with your dryer. My gas dryer has one thermostat with manual reset and I clicked the button, but the thermostat is still blown. So having the button doesn't mean the thermostat won't fail, or that it is better.
14 years mines been good. Had a 33% chance this was the fix. Nope. Maybe igniter or thermostat. Otherwise video was spot on. Thanks for the tutorial 👍👍👍
Same here! Ours has worked flawlessly for 13 years. But now I can only use "speed dry" the other settings work but when I use them they stop drying after a few minutes. In the past, I could set them on whatever setting I needed and they would dry until finish, not so much now. I don't want to purchase new ones because ours still looks great and they work very well but I wish I could fix this issue.
Mine is 8 yrs old and stopped drying.. I took out 12 screws (fairly easy) through my meter on the parts until one didn't give feedback.. took the screw out (sensor) took it to appliance store got a new one, put the new one in with screw and put the 12 screws back in.. done. think it was 17.00.
cool, I hope you made a video of that!!! that'd be super helpful.. if you did link it here so others can do the same fix... or make one now and post it, link it... all that.
That video you are referring to is of Scott The Fix It Guy and is on a Gas Dryer. You have an Electric Dryer. Those thermostats aren't meant to be reset. If it blows that means there's a problem elsewhere not just the thermostat. Check out your vent in your wall and make sure it's clean... that will cause the thermostat to blow. It's meant to be a safety mechanism not an inconvenience.
Good to pass along. Thanks. :)
Right thats what i was meaning with my post.
I had my dryer vent catch fire last year the vent cloggeg i didn't notice it.
I had been doing laundry all complaining that my dryer wasnt dryer well.
I loaded a load of towls into the machine turned it on high heat kike normal i left the room i came back in about 30 minutes to check them.
I opened the dryer door to have smoke just bellowing out of it.
Man i had me and my partner pull that dryer out fast i riped the dryer vent out and sprayed with a fire extinguisher.
Luckily it didnt have a chance to get bad.
The vent used to run through the ceiling i know have it running th9the floor shorter run.
Luckily with a little cleaning my dryer was okay. All this could have been prevented if i had only know the vent was clogged.
"Well Poop!" ( we agree on that, but poop wasn't the word I had in mind! )
I'm with ya!
That's why I like old fashioned dryer with no glass.
yeah, we'd use that, but the wife said it had to be pretty.... pretty piece of crap that it is.... working now though.
glass has nothing to do with the problem
@@StuffIHeard It is a small, maybe large inconvience to have any appliance issue. I will Always buy LG. I love their engineering. Saftey and beauty, worth it!
mine had the same problem not drying mine was the thermal cut out relay cost me 42$ for such a small part LG sucks I've had mine for 3 yrs and keeps having proplems
i had the same problem funny change the wire from breaker box to outlet is sloved my problem 100 per cent
Thanks Joshua, I just saw a
LG dryer on Craigslist freestuff and the post read
" It works, just won't DRY"
Well, let me get my hand held hairdryer out ,open the door of dryer ,depress the switch that keeps the door shut, and use my hair dryer to DRY CLOTHES WHILE THEY ROTATE IN DYSFUNCTIONAL PIECE OF STAINLESS STEEL? It is
Stainless steel,is it not?
Perhaps LG should stick to manufacturing phones?
maybe so...
That reset button is only found in gas dryers.
Yes, not on a electric dryer. That reset is a thermal overload reset switch, it might go out from a clogged vent system. When you do your repair always clean the inside by your motor regardless of your dryer being gas or electric
That's progress for you, the bionic dryer.
yeah, if it only did the one job it had... dang, and dang again.... oh well, running now.
Mine has started 4 to 5 months old too!!
We just had to call the guy... this was years ago, it hasn't bothered us since.
Hi how much was ur service charge for them to come inspect it I have the same issue ?? Please and thank you
I'm not sure, I think it was still under warranty then.
same issue here. have to run a couple of time to get clothes dry
Ours was a bad sensor that we had to get replaced. We have learned that it dries better if we put it on a time and just run it. The "dryness" sensor doesn't dry enough for us. I click it over to speed dry and bump the time to whatever I think it needs. Does much better now.
We just bought ours no more than q0 days ago and we are having the issue.
it must be a factory thing because a lot of people are having the same issue.
Just got mine two days ago and the dryer is doing the same thing shutting off in less than one minute my ducts are clean so they wouldn't be any issue with Lint. I just called Lowe's I'm taking this crap back washer and dryer.
good call. I'm still using this one, but it's not great. I probably won't buy a LG again.
Since you are keeping it I'm not sure if you have one but you should get extended warranty
@@StuffIHeard I switched out for a Maytag
I love the washer but the dryer has some issues !! Design flaw for sure ! I thought I was crazy!
@@bigd8812 how is that maytag running? My LG is absolute dog shit.
This is why I pennied up and had a gas line installed. These electro dryers cost a ton to operate and they suck!
we shouldn't use fabric softener sheets for this dryer.
Dude six months why bother .. take it back lol
I’m having the same problem with that same dryer
I had to get the element replaced. Luckily it was still under warranty. I haven't had a problem with it since. I'm not sure how old this video is...
😎
They probably do that just so you can't fix it your self them sneaky ppl
Yeah, I think they did it just to be cheap.
@@StuffIHeard i think they did it to keep peopke from burning there houses down if the thermal fuse blows there could potentially be clogg in the vent or sometbing causing the dryer to over heat.
A fuse that has to be replaced means you have to call for a service which if its blow hopefully they would catch the clogged duct rather then someone not knowing there is a problem rests it then burns the house down.
Find a old one in the garbage fix the belt bamm the old 90s models literally are the best
first off the reset button was not put in for customer use. its put there so the tech knows your dryer is over heating and if the cause of the over heating is not resolved and you keep resetting it you can start a dryer fire. now the reason the reset button was taken out is because customers were #1. if you take the tube out of the back of the dryer you break the seal of the vent tube that prevents the dryer from filling up with lint and lint build up can cause an internal fire #2 customers were sticking there arms in the dryer and cutting themselves up with the sharp edges. #3 customers were dumb enough to stick there hands in there without unplugging the machine and electrocuting themselves real geniuses and for the grand finally. for an appliance warranty there are programs that cover up to 5 appliances for $25 a month up to 7 appliances for $35 a month and that's well worth it cause if more then one appliance breaks and the repair cost $300 to $400 each then $300 a year is alot better then $600 -$800 for repairs.
Have the same issue, not drying. I had a Sears Whirlpool for 15yrs. No problems. This LG is a joke.
How does this crap happens. Cannot get the Whirlpools from USA anymore.
Not happy with mine either. I already took it apart once following another youtube. It worked for a couple more months and now I have to troubleshoot again. They need a reset button, DON'T buy one until they add this back in. Better yet, try another brand.
Gas dryers have the button
They do it so you can buy new
they do it because they put the cheapest parts into the shiny machine... once we got that fixed it's been fine since.
only the gas dryers have that reset button
There's no reset button because that's only on gas dryers.
I have this dryer an it is a reset button
The reset button is for gas
well that explains that... thanks.
I have the same dryer. Same issues since new. LG has been a joke.
Mine just gave out period. The motherboard started flashing. There's no reset button. So basically, I'm out of money, luck, and everything else. Just go back out and buy anther one. Easy Peasy.
dang
I have the same problem. Lg sucks
That was the only problem we've had with it. This video is old.
So, just a video to Bitch? No help on how to replace?
I tried to replace it, had to call the number on the book... we had just bought it 6 months prior, was still under warranty. They fixed it quickly and we haven't had a problem sense. I can't remember how long ago this video was... I think a year or more.

Junk
Next time you get a professional the first time don't do by yourself if you don't know the difference between gas dryer and electric dryer
I knew this was an electric dryer. what made you think I didn't?
Too much bla, bla, bla not very informative. Just a thought.
yeah, I do that... stick around, I have a podcast where I talk all the time! (Stuff I Heard)
