In this video Paul from Photo genius demonstrates how to set Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) on a Canon DSLR and how to bracket manually using a Nikon D3500.

Bracketing was vital back in the days when we used film and the majority of photographers didn’t have access to the post exposure voodoo available today. Still very useful in the digital age particularly with landscape/nature photography where light can change second to second. Another brilliant video!
Thanks that made a lot of sense, I was aware of exposure bracketing but the way you explained and demonstrated the process has made it clear. Thanks appreciate all you do.
You're very welcome!
Great video, I’m a regular user of exposure bracketing . I’d like to I offer a tip, for Canon users at least. Instead of selecting the burst mode to take the pics use the 2 second timer option. This lets you push the shutter button then clear your hand away from the camera, to remove the risk of moving it, and the camera then takes the set of bracketed photos automatically.
Good call!
Awesome. Thanks. A great help.
This is what my boss told me to do as well. Is it simple to find the 2 second timer? I haven't looked into it yet.
@@jonvanderhorn9651 yes, it’s very easy to select. You can do it via the drive button on the top of the camera, just press the drive button and use the dial on top of the camera to select the 2 second timer option. Or you can use the Q button on the back of the camera and select it via the touch screen. It’s the 4th icon from the left on the bottom row (will look like a rectangle in normal shooting mode) Press that icon, the heading at the top of the screen should say drive mode, and then select 2 second timer.
@@ricohact Thank you
Yoooo that’s soo dope. Never knew about this. Made that dock look super cool and edited like it was professional
Wow that’s an amazing technique. And so simple. Thanks for teaching me.
Another comprehensive and useful video. Thank you Paul.
Glad you enjoyed it 👏
Thanks so much! All of your videos are extremely helpful, and easy to understand.
I am a newbie in Photography industry, your content helps me a lot. ❤️ Thank you for sharing everything ☺️
Thank you for those lessons and your time. Much appreciated.
No worries! Thanks for watching.
Terrific video. Paul you have no idea how much beginners love these videos. Every video has that "aha" moment which makes us feel, great I have an additional tool in my camera bag now. Thank you 😊
This was fantastic! Bracketing has been a serious source of frustration for me for years...no longer! And, to boot, I can't wait to merge images! A million times, thank you!!! WOOHOO!
Great explanation of bracketing! Thank you sir!!
Presentation was Stunning.. Great Info!!!
Glad you liked it! Happy to help.
I’ve been learning a lot from photo genius, watching every day while in lockdown. I can’t wait to get out.
Cheers from Melbourne.
superb video; clear; concise and most helpful
Nice work Paul. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you.
I've had a Canon EOS R for almost a year now, and this video clearly explained what I hadn't been able to figure out! And that is how bracketing works and how to utilize HDR in post processing. I use (I try to use!!) the Canon Digital Photo Pro and now I know how to use the HDR composite function. Thank You Photo Genius!
This really help me to know how to put on bracketing. Thanks 👍
Thanks for sharing valuable lecture on Bracketing.
Excellent explanation mate ! Thank you!
Well paced and very clear, thank you.
Thank you for this. I'm in a Photography class our first teacher quit 2/3 of the semester being completed and gave our new teacher NONE of our grades. She didn't really teach us anything, so we were lost in doing this assignment. I have a Nikon in a class full of Canon, and my old D3300 didn't have the settings our new teacher gave us. I REALLY appreciate you showing me how to set my Nikon up to get this assignment completed.
You are welcome, whilst the D3300 may be an older camera it takes great shots , best wishes.
Seriously you are the best teacher ever
Wow i never appreciated the usefulness of bracketing until now, the merging looks superb. You are amazing sir
Another excellent video, Paul. Lots of really useful information. Thanks and keep safe.
Thanks, you too 👏
Great video, stunning presentation, awesome trick easier than merging them in photoshop. I will try it as soon as possible. Thanks again.

My pleasure 👍😀
Very clear explanation. Thanks.
I agree YOU explained really well. so clear .Not only in the camera BUT to process it . Thank YOU
You explain Bracketing and HDR in perfect terms. My Canon SL2 does AEB. I merge the exposures in fotor because they have a HDR maker. Easy as pie.

You're very welcome! Thanks for watching 👏
Many thanks for all your help and this tutorial is no different, excellent info. Can you advise when you would use 1/3 stops please, much appreciated
Thank you! Very helpful
Very useful information. Thank you Sir
Thank you for your clear explanation of this great video.
Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate the support and feedback Frank.
Great tutorial!!! What if you want 3 shots, 1 correct exposure, 1 ev-2, and 1 ev+5 , lets say you are on a dark indoors , with a huge window and an extremely bright sunny day out, it won't be convenient the classic -2 / 0 / +2 , when your bright Picture is more than 5 stops apart for example
If you want a exposure that is around 5 stops (or more) over or under then it's probably best to use exposure compensation (if in the S or A) modes.
@@photogenius I have been able to achieve that, with an app. Helicon Remote, where you can enter independent customized values for bracketing (since it's all manual settings) it would be useful to have it on camera, since I use it in combination with a Robotic Panorama Head, so I can do the 3 shots and then move to the next position... thanxxx:)
I'm a beginner but really learned a lot from you, keep going 👌
Thanks a lot, tha was very clear and helpful.

Thank You So Much Sir
Thanks Paul (First comment :-D).
Always wait for your videos :-)
Awesome, thank you! 🏆
could you do a video on focus bracketing/stacking?
Good and descriptive tutorial. Just a minor improvement in regards to the Canon camera. You can set up bracketing/AEB from the quick menu as well (the one where you see all settings: aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc.) So there is no need to go in the "whole settings menu".
Total beginner here using a Nikon D200 your tutorials have saved me from binning the camera lol
Which editing app would you recommend for a total technophobe ?
Very interested on this
Amazing Prof, thanks for sharing.

I use Canon EOS 3000D

Can you do exposure bracketing in long exposure photography? Thank you.
