I probably should have elaborated but was trying to make the point that it's impossible to completely understand what causes a player to yip a putt .. The player can't understand when or why either...
Kudos of you gave helped 1 player overcome the yips. Whether it was for a paycheck or was to have fun playing again it an awful feeling
    .....
THE long putter cured mine No yips for 9 years. With the rules chanfe on the horizon i decided to get a jump start and try legal usage and short putters and didn't even make it 4 holes.... The usga wants make sure that I quit the Game for good..Thanks For Reading

@@PeakPerformanceSports I've got the yips... Bad. I have signed up to your content and it is helping (early stages) Thank you . However, For me, Putting and chipping has become a problem because of the yips. I know first hand that it is purely mental. For me, It's a result of anxiety built up from my expectation of the result. And then fear of not executing the shot to my potential or how close I want the ball to be to the hole after each shot.
I used to putt and chip with freedom and was an 8 hc but now, especially at the start of rounds, I have huge anxiety with short pitch, chip shots and putting. It's not until my score card is ruined that I finally start to play freely. I assume because my thought of the round being 'done' I then free my thoughts and just 'play'!. Obviously my problem is how do get into the frame of mind at the start of the round where I can execute the shot I plan for? I'm am now off 13 and I know it is because of the yips. I practise @ least an hour a day but can't seem to shake it.

Jason Nairn have you tried the tapping theory? It worked for me.
