How long does the process take for it to remove dirty litter?
What about urine ? It would just mix it
@@jimmiesullivan358 haha yes I did! Bubbles especially LOVES boxes 😂
Nobody ever talks about cleaning the litter robot itself. Eventually you will have to wash all these inside parts.
You will. And this litter box is actually great for that. The top comes right off, and the litter bed is a round rubber mat that can be taken right out.
das stimmt
@@SimontheSiameseCat so it's pretty easy then? How much does it cost I get so tired of scooping the box 🤔 might be worth it, thanks.
@@traceykoontz2868495$ without the odour control system and 530$ with it, there is a pinned comment with link
cleaning the inside of a litter robot is sooooo gross!! honestly thinking about going back! the not having to scoop is nice but cleaning the robot is such a big task
FOR $800, IT BETTER CLEAN MY POOP TOO
My cat just goes outside
Like... I used to do litter as well. Then I realised I can just let the cat go outside. Now the litter box just stands in the corner pretty much empty and the cat actually prefers going outside because she knows if she goes inside it makes the room smell
$800 dollars for never having to clean up cat shit for 1 or more cats for 10-15 years ever again? Yeah... I'll take that deal...
@@specialkayah ...or just teach the cat to go outside like in normal animal life. Cats wanna dig their crap into the ground. Why not let them do that outside like how they're meant to?
@@specialkayah you realize that you'll need to clean the intricate insides of that robot, right? And also you'll probably end up trashing it because it's an indiegogo scam and no one will ever repair it when inevitably it will break
@@fostena of course. You cant just let it sit and fester. But cleaning the machine occasionally instead of the trays I still think is a worthy trade off.

😂
I laughed out loud at this
HAHAHAHA so true. These days everything is being dumbed down to absurd levels in the name of innovation 😂 and I'm saying this as a software dev
Lmao!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I enjoy fulfilling the responsibilities as a cat parent by checking and cleaning litter boxes twice a day.
And by checking the litterboxes ourselves, we see if there is blood in the urine (indicating urinary tract infection) or if they have diarrhea (indicating other health issues). I'd rather spend $5 on a litterbox that makes me monitor my cat's health, even though this over-priced toy does have some good features.
My grandmother got a self cleaning litter box. It started up with the cat still inside and the cats tail almost got caught. Thankfully my grandmother was nearby so she was able to save him.
Hmm.... I really hope that they fixed that problem before releasing it again, or taking the defective ones from the shelf and not selling them. I would hate to lose my cat from a defective product like that, and I would totally sue.
That's one of my worries. The other one would be if their head got stuck. Sine technology may fail, I wouldn't trust to let my cats use an automatic litter box unsupervised, which quite frankly makes it totally useless
Depends on when she got it. And what type it was…those first generation ones looked like torture chambers and were loud.
@@lizamay722 there are like hundreds of different brands of self cleaning liter boxes. I doubt her grandma had this one.
Woe. How would deactivation of yhr box when I cat goes in not be a feature?!! I hope she sued so they fixed that!
I'd love to have an automatic litter box but scooping the litter is one of the ways to catch early signs of sickness
Couldn't you just check the stuff in the bag before throwing it out?
@@Shadowtiger2564 If you have multiple pets you wouldn't be able to tell who it came from.
@@midnightlycanfox6280 the same argument can be made for it still being in the sand?
@@Shadowtiger2564 True, I think that's a whole different problem though that this thing just can't solve. Separate litter boxes would help with that.
@@midnightlycanfox6280 Do cats tend to stick to just one litterbox?
A Siamese would expect a bidet as well 😳😻💯
I laughed so hard😂😂😂
Do another vid of maintenance and cleaning of the litter box after a couple months of use.
The exact reason I’m going back to a regular litter box because that was the ABSOLUTE worse and feels like a huge waste of money!!
I'm still waiting for this video
I haven't seen anyone talk about this but there is one major flaw with this.
Since the litter is being rotated the poop and urine are being smeared on the walls. This can cause odor and make cats uncomfortable going in it since they are surrounded by their own pee and poo.
It can also cause behavior problems like going outside the litter box seeing as they find the box too dirty.
I myself have never owned one but I have talked to quite a few people that had these problems. Hope this is helpful to someone :)
Do the "quite a few people" you've talked to own this exact model...?
@@LulaMae21 No they have not. I never said this exact model but you can clearly see how the litter is being scraped along the sides so the problem is still there.
I also never said that this product is bad. I simply want people to make sure this suits their cats.
I'm going of the belief that the people that want this product are adult enough to not just take a youtube video or comment as information and do more research.
I mean technically if the stuff is being covered with litter (as shown in the video) and then caught/separated, it's likely not as much getting that caught on the sides. Technically the same problem exists with regular litter boxes as you scoop and sift and the litter falls as it wants.
I haven't looked into this box, but this one and one I have been thinking about both let you control the timing for when the rotation happens, so you could let it "dry" so it doesn't smear/your cat will likely still cover it themselves. And this one says it has a deodorizer (idk about the one I was interested in) so this issue might have come to their attention and caused this to be implemented. Now I gotta check if the one I was looking at has it because I don't need my baby thinking his box is dirty 😭
@@spyrothetimelord not about the bits that get on the walls, its about the odor that gets smeared all over
I agree…they only show how it would work in perfect circumstances…which as cat owners, we should realize don’t always exist 😅
I think it would be a safe option if you can control the self cleaning feature, like press it when the cat is not inside
You can.
Yes, you have the option to have it automatically clean after a cat leaves, or you can set it so that it will only clean when you manually tell it to (by pushing a button)
@@SimontheSiameseCat I think I'd prefer the 2nd option for safety reasons.
@@SimontheSiameseCat I see, that's great! Thanks!
Don't get something like this! If your cat is sick, you will often notice through their excrements (or lack thereof). If you aren't cleaning the box yourself, you might not notice something is wrong until it is too late.
When you find that a cat's litter box is fancier than your home toilet
So instead of cleaning a small litter box, you have a giant complicated contraption you also have to clean 😂😂😂
Why are all, it seems, liter boxes $400-$700? If I could afford that, I pay someone to scoop Zoe's liter.
If you watch My Cat from Hell, the host tells you that these are bad. If you have multiple cats they can get territorial real quick and use the opening as an ambush point for the other cat. It's better to have open ones for this reason
I get a cheap under $100 one from petco I think that you have to rotate yourself. Still makes the job a little easier. I like to remove the top and only attach it to roll the bad litter since I’m worried that dust from the litter will get in my poor baby’s nose 😅
@@azurastar3223 I used to have a Litter Robot and that happened for me. Only my biggest male cat used the robot, because he claimed it. Sometimes my female would still use it because she's older and she doesn't like to take his sass. But my little runty male absolutely wouldn't go in because he doesn't like the potential to get trapped. I had to keep a manual open box as well or he would just pee on the floor. Then after only about 4 years the expensive robot died, and I decided that the cost wasn't worth it if it would die so soon. So now I have manual layered sifter boxes. There are three boxes- two solid ones and a sifter one. You dump the top solid box with the waste into the sifter box that you keep sitting inside of the other solid box. Then pick up the sifter box and let the loose stuff filter through. Dump the sifter into a bag, then put the boxes back in order with the now empty box on the bottom, the sifter in the middle, and the box with the now clean litter on top. I can clean 3 boxes like this in 5 minutes, much faster than scooping by hand. And now since they're all open boxes there's no trapped bullying going on. So I wouldn't buy this product since it's nearly the same as the Litter Robot.
I was honestly expecting something like this to cost $200 but $400-$600 completely shocked me.
@@diamondborealis454 me too
It is only self-cleaning if it bags it up and takes it out to the trashcan.
It should drop the litter in a tiny catapult and fling it perfectly into a trashcan since it's already so extra
@@uglyburrito_ lmao
True you still have to take the poop out in a bag. And you also have to wash all the parts
Well, for more money of course, you could get a robot to take the bag of doodoo to another trash can. And then more robots along the way until the bin is curbside.
We gotta start somewhere……….
@@wejsmith5446 Or you could go the other way and spend no time, money or energy on maintaining a litter box ever again by training your cats to use the toilet.
I don't even have a cat, but I was just curious
You are a curious cat
@@Artnotforthesakeofartunderrated comment
Littermaid boxes are great too. Just keep in mind you will still want to monitor for any clumps that get stuck to bottom or side. And if your cat always pees or poops in the same spot that part of the waste area will fill and the load has to be re-distributed. I tossed out waste daily. It's well worth getting!!! My cat also knew immediately how it worked and played with it for hours. He'd sit by the side monitor and pass a paw by the sensor to make it go off. The machines do eventually need to be replaced but it's well worth the cost 😺💞 your cat will vote you best person ever! 😹🔥
This is over $1000 CAD! Nope, I’ll keep scooping!
Same. And anyway I know my cats would hate it.
Having the owner of my apartment (my cat) watch me clean her litter box is also advantageous cuz it lets her tolerate my presence more. Can’t have some robot take that job away from me
As weird as it might seem but I actually enjoy scooping😂

@@SimontheSiameseCat I love watching videos on your cats.
I’m disabled and therapists have been suggesting I adopt a cat for years, things like cleaning out the litter daily hold me back, though. I wish everyone could have something like this, so cool
I’m disabled and scooping isn’t great. It’s really lugging the litter from the store inside the house and lugging dirty liter outside to the garbage. It’s insanely heavy and EXPENSIVE that’s another added stress, the expense of pets. But if possible, I can tell you my pets greatly reduce my pain and anxiety and if I’m being completely honest, my suicidal ideation knowing they love and need me. Good luck
@@chronic_payne5669 there are cat litter companies that deliver the litter to your house and there is also the Breeze litter box that uses pellets and a special design box that let the urine go through to the bottom onto an absorbent pad so all you have to do most of the time is scoop the poo. The pellets get changed out after an extended period of time, I think 3 months, as they are not very absorbent and the pad as often as needed depending on your cat/s. The bags of pellets are not large or heavy but just the right amount for the cat. You’d probably have to transition the cat to them as they are a totally different texture but mine had no problem doing that so they work just fine for my two cats.
You still need to wash out the robot.
I wish I had seen this model before we got the one we have. My husband is recently disabled and this is exactly why we got the auto cleaning litter box.
Any chance there is a local cat rescue around that can help you out? Us that are disabled to the level of being mostly housebound are really, really good for socializing skittish cats, or to live permanently with a slightly vintage couch potato. With a bit of talking, it is not impossible to get someone from a rescue to check in on you and the cat once a week or so, hauling up new cat litter, and taking out the old one that is sealed in a bag. It also gives a cat-sitter backup for if you have to go to the hospital, and a cat-taxi to the vet.
You need to be looking for changes in your cats urine and stool when you clean the litter in order to catch things like UTI and other health problems quickly if they ever arrise. You can’t do that if a robot is scooping the litter for you. It might tell you when your cat uses the litter, but it wont tell you if the color of your cats stool is abnormal or if there’s blood in your cats urine or the spots of urine are very small (indicating they are struggling to urinate) if there’s parasites in the stool or your cat is having diarrhea. I don’t really want to pick up my dogs giant dukies either but it’s important to be aware of this stuff because stool is a very good indicator of health (and I also like walking around my yard without worrying I’ll step in it…)
Couldn't you still check those things when you empty the tray?
You can. Just with a Litter-robot. Not this one.
You can still look at the stool when you empty the tray…
@@NoriMori1992 Litter-robot analyzes the urine.
You can actually. Just check the waste bin, which you should be changing frequently anyways

With these sorts of systems, I always think about the need to buy proprietary bags. I can't be bothered to have to reorder specific, overpriced poop bags from a specific website all the time.
Had the same issue with poop bins until I found a diaper bin from Ubbi that lets you use any bag. That one was a life changer for me.
We have the Litter Robot (not this machine) and we can use regular kitchen trash bags. We just roll the bag down like you would with the waistband of a pair of sweatpants that are too big. I also like the design of the Litter Robot better because if there was some kind of malfunction and it cycled while a cat was in it (which it shouldn't because it has weight sensors) the front is just open and the can can just jump out. We will never have a cat without a Litter Robot again. Once a week on trash night we pull the drawer out, inspect the health of the clumps then just pull the bag out, tie it and drop it in the trash. I hope this helps.
Most automatic litter boxes don't require proprietary bags. You can use regular trash bags.
My Siamese Cat, Lily needs that.

My cats never liked an enclosed litter box (joy for me as they fling litter everywhere lmao) AND i can just imagine them skittering away in fear when it makes noise and moves
We have a self cleaning litterbox where you can see it rake the litter for clumps. Whenever our cat hears it turn on she runs into the room to watch it. She knows what it is and what it's doing, she just enjoys watching it lol
I am not spending hundreds of dollars for a machine to clean the litter box. If I didn't want to care for my cat's needs, I wouldn't have adopted him.
Also it would be a disaster with - excuse me - loose stools and worse. The large boxes with plastic scoops are still the best.
Some people are disabled or have other difficulties that can make it harder for them. They're not less deserving of having a cat. Years ago as a child we had 2 cats. We never used kitty litter, but just put a few sections of newspapers in the bottom and tore another section into strips about 1 inch wide and rumpled them a bit. There wasn’t any extra cost since we already subscribed to the daily newspaper. If a cat did kick a strip out, it was easy enough to pick up and usually they were dry since the wet ones would adhere to the solid sheets. If it got dirty, you just dumped it into the trash. Simple, easy and no kitty litter to deal with.
@tastx3142 - Years ago, one of our cats was attacked by a raccoon, and while she was recuperating, our vet said to use dry lentils in the litter boxes; I don't reccall if she said a 1/2" depth, or a full 1". She said the cats only need enough to scratch & cover with. (We had to switch to lentils, as regular cat litter was too dusty for her to use while her wounds were healing.)
