    As a writer and character designer, it's interesting how well most of my characters wardrobes fit this. Most of my characters have a reoccurring color in their wardrobe and throughout this whole video, whenever the color a particular character wears the most came up I was like "yup that's definitely so-and-so" in terms of their personality and the impressions they strive to give off.

    The colors you wear truly do have an impact. I work for a company that required all of its field employees to wear white pants. Prior to getting the job we were made to watch a video. In the video we watched, employees walk up to the door of a prospective customer with regular clothes on and most of them got turned away. But in the same video when we watched an employee with white pants approach the door, nine out of ten of these employees were invited into the home. The research in the video show that when people wear white clothes they are more trusted than people who don't. I found that to be pretty valuable information.

    Be careful about color psychology, associations we make with colors -- Different cultures can have either drastically different or subtly similar meanings they associate with a given color, and the boundaries for color names can also differ from culture to culture. Just because it means a few things in your own culture doesn't mean it will be those in another culture. Also beware of thinking you've thought of all the associations, even in your own language or culture. For example, is red active, energetic, or is it bloody and violent, or is it ripe fruit or a danger signal or a stop sign? It may mean any of those things, even for English-speaking people. Is a color really masculine or feminine, or is that a cultural thing, or only from a few generations ago? Its a color or palette youthful or elderly? There are all sorts of variables.

    • @wintershock
      @wintershock Год назад +50

      Yeah, it even ranges from person to person as well. I know for a fact that certain colour choices for clothing tell my subconscious brain to stay away. Colours like beige, any pastel colour or yellow do that for me and I don’t understand why. Something in my brain tells me those colours come with negative experiences. Usually I won’t judge someone for wearing those colours too harshly, I just proceed with caution. So, wear whatever colour combo you want because results will vary.

    • @gayusschwulius8490
      @gayusschwulius8490 Год назад +4

      While this is true, there ARE some associations of color that are universal. Every culture associates green with nature, every culture associates red with blood, every culture associates blue with the sky and the sea. So I'd argue that cultural differences apply mostly to non-primary colors, where the associations are weaker and can depend more on the specific circumstances. For example, there are few yellow things around us, so do you associate yellow more with flowers, the sun, gold? Do you associate white with snow or with the clouds? Do you associate orange with a sunset or with fruit? Do you associate pink with human lips (this is also a matter of skin color) or with Sakura petals? Those are the things that vary wildly between cultures.

    Hmm well this actually helped with my party and us deciding our colors for our characters in dnd. I know that is a weird connection but we are all artsy and it’s a story and roleplay heavy game. This means character art means a lot to us and since clothes actually have a role in the storytelling, we were careful about choosing them. My own character has a palate of mostly blue and brown and their eyes are green. The main pop of color outside of all this is a set of long red tassel earrings.
    Another player’s character who contrasts my own as a foil uses the main color of red and accents of black and grays.
    Our cleric went with white with accents of black.
    The rest can’t really settle on their palate and are still exploring it so I sent them this and they said it helped. Actually after watching this I feel it helped explain why each of us who had already chosen, selected the palate we had for the characters we play. Thanks for the video!

Because he had red hair and freckles, I thought this odd. He also started wearing very bright, bold electric blue which he had never worn in our 2 decades of marriage. Because there are so many different shades of blue, it would be helpful to subcategorize these. Some are restful and peaceful, and some are very bold and powerful. "Red is the most competitive color", this may be true, but many of the teams who have won the FIFA World Cup (which is the most competitive football tournament) such as Italy, Argentina, France, and Uruguay have worn blue as their primary shirt color. In fact, 13 of the 22 World Cup winning shirts have had blue as their primary color, meanwhile only 1 winning shirt was primarily red (England '66). And Brazil has the most World Cup victories with their home shirt being yellow. So...when it comes to sports teams, I'll stick to those in blue ;)

    Most people wear jeans.
    Indigo is the traditional color for jeans.
    Are you saying most people in the current era are actually STABLE since they wear typical jeans? I have statistics that invalidate that point...

Ive got red, white, blue, black etc t shirts, and if I need to wear something like a jacket, ive got camo, black, red. If I need a blazer, I have gray and thats becasue its a pass me down from my brother who had my mom choose it out for him.

    for anyone else in the comments, consider how colors can be connotated by people's experience in life.
    for example, in my own life, purple represents control. it's a color i found quite fondly, and in my own use of computers, when something is purple, it's because i intentionally made it that way.
    i picked that because it can be comforting and bold in the same breath, and by just changing the brightness you can pull the strings to make it do exactly what you need it to in any given context
    it means something different to me, so clearly different colors can mean different things to different people, apart from all these general connotations

    What colors you wear say about you:
    Brown: You're wearing brown.
    Blue: You're wearing blue.
    Green: You're wearing green.

    I'm color blind so I just wear black all the time, but it's interesting..... I still have all the same feelings towards these colors I can't even see, except for beige. That one just looks like stained white. I'm guessing it's something like tan. That was explained really well. It's like all these weird emotions I've had towards colors, but only in the sense of knowing them as words and feelings, explained to me by someone else as the same. That's so wild. Brains - Can't live with 'em,
