If you rebuild the top end and replace the timing chains, this thing will growl again like it has only 120,000 miles. Those 2V 5.4’s are solid engines.
The 2V V8 in the super dutys was a mistake. They are totally gutless. My buddy's dad had a 99 F250 short bed/extended cab 4x4 on 33s with the 2V triton V8. My 2002 F250 long box/crew cab on 35s with the 2V triton V10 and a toolbox full of tools would walk bus lengths on it at every stop light. Even though I had 230k miles and his truck had like 89k miles. Those 5.4s in the super dutys were the definition of a turd 🤣🤣 they sound good, though, haha
They fixed the spark plug issue in like 07. 2v and 3v are the same block and lower end. Big issue with the 3v was the junk plastic timing chain gauges and tensioners. Mmr has a billet aluminum version that would last forever, and the cam phasers can be blocked off easily enough. Lower end tho is bullet proof. My oil field shop as several with 400-600k miles on them
That thing is tiredddddddd 😂
That 5.4 is solid, but it needs some tlc hauling that heavy sucker around
300,000+ miles

Yeah the 5.4 2V is struggling in that big thing
Dude drives like a menace 😂 backs into the road causing the other truck to slow down then takes off into traffic
What's funny is I stumbled across your comment while he was doing that on the video I looked back up on the screen like wth 😂😂😂
Prime country boy activities of course lol
Well at least now you will hear him coming! lol
Your videos are awesome to watch keep them coming 💯
Well, this just shows me I can do true duals with 2 of these on my 03 f150. Excellent
May be the best sounding triton the aftermarket converters made all the difference in this case
Planning on changing my exhaust system on my triton. Do you think without that converter will not sound like that?
@@crispe824 if you leave the stock converters, it will be a little quieter
Shes all used up but finally sounds good! 👍
320k on a 5.4 damn
That’s because this is a pre 3V 5.4. This is a 2V 5.4 which is 100 times better. These don’t explode like the 3V 5.4’s do.
@Peculiarsafe83 nah they just have a spark plug spitting problem lol
@@a.kblur04 Easily fixable. You can fix that with the engine still in the truck.
@@Peculiarsafe83 I have the same truck. What is the issue and what do you need to fix it?

Sounds WILD!!! Still im not used to hearing the gas engines on these but sick
That thing is greasier than your moms box 🤣
I would like to hear a black widow exhaust in a 2001 ford 7.3
Its a diesel so im not sure itd be a good option.
Kinda sounds like the v10 when revved high
I have both a v10 and 5.4 and hardly even though they are the same
Nice sound 5.4 and nice job 👍
It had a 6.0 in it forsure, blew up swapped a junkyard 5.4. that truck has been through some shit.
2:15 his neutral is reverse
it’s so slow lol
I have the exact same truck just mine is a 99 rwd an sometime in may Imma come down to this shop an ask to put a 50 series flow master on my truck
Get a super 40 trust me👹
My 5.4 doesn't have that much of an edge to it but it is not bad.
Really quiet compared to my 3” glass pack 5.4 super duty
I have a 2004 f250 5.4 triton and I put a v10 mbrp 4 inch exhaust on
320,000 Mi on a 5.4 that truck that is insane
I have commented this twice already. But this is a 2V 5.4 which is 100 times better than the 3V exploding 5.4’s.
I wonder if the owner repeated it to help the ol gal accelerate...or plan to
Sounds good
My 03 5.4l has factory cats and a dynomax racebullet and it seems much louder and deeper toned
320 ooo miles !!! wow
Lifted? My is same and it's stock lift lol its just cuz of the tires
0:42 you can see the blocks
It is on 4 inch leaf spring lift @roughcountry
@@adolfogarcia9840 just doesn't look it cuz mine looks like the same ride height and mines stock
@Mike (MJ) what does your truck measure from the ground to the fender? In front and back?
@@adolfogarcia9840 i would check if I was workin 15 hour days my friend
Hell yeah!
That’s a bad ass truck but looooord the things tired 😂
So damn slow off the line lol.
Need a better y pipe
Sounds good but sounds slow and tired when taking off
Not bad
Wicked.
Sounds good, accelerates like a Pinto! lol
Not enough motor for a 3/4 truck😄 belongs in a expy/navi and f150, with 3.73 to 4.10 gearing and a six speed.
Agree but some 5.13 or 5.38 will do wonders
@@erikmireles5879 and make the engine sing like a opera house over 3000 octaves...........I mean rpms!
@@brandedmcgowan9414 the big tires and overdrive gear soak up a lot of the rpms and will hold the current gear uphill much better
@@erikmireles5879 yep.
Nice truck, but I think it’s time to overhaul that engine, she sounds tired

Farm truck what a waste. Too loud for me.
you have your sticker on it, but so does @Itsjusta6
