Zack is my absolute favorite character in all of FF, and probably my favorite protagonist, period. He really does embody the spirit of a Hero, and that's why it's always stung so hard how his and Aerith's story ended (incidentally she is my #2) Just as a little andendum to #5, Tidus also happens to be Zack's Force Time partner in Dissidia: Opera Omnai, which after watching this is just that much more fitting wow. Oh and as one final really cute fact: Zack and Aerith's Japanese voice actors are married IRL.

Love the use of the softer version of Judgement Day in the video. A truly underrated gem of the FF7 OST in my opinion. Understandable since it’s only used once at the tail end of the game and with an OST packed full of memorable songs but I personally think it’s one of the best songs of the soundtrack.
I'm a JP dub player and I always wondered why they pronounced it like "Zakkusu" instead of "Zakku" which would be more accurate for Zack, so I assumed it might have been a similar problem like the Aeris/Aerith mistranslation. Thanks for pointing that out! Also thanks for bringing Kenichi Suzumura into the spotlight, I honestly can't imagine a better voice for Zack
I first played FFVII with my sister, who was less of a completionist than me, and thus we didn't see all the flashbacks, and I had to play again on my own to get clear on who Zack was. He became my favorite character, and now I have a much-loved Zack plushie that my sister's youngest son likes to talk to. She STILL is confused about who Zack is, LOL.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Zack is by far the most interesting character in the FF VII compilation. He has true depth and is actually likeable compared to most of the other characters within the series. Even some of the more iconic characters seem so flat and one-dimensional by comparison. I'm thrilled that he might come back, but I'm worried his return/revival might weaken his incredible showing of character in his final sacrifice. Fingers crossed that SE does him justice...
I get the feeling Nomura really loves SuzuKen, since he also got him to voice Jack in Type-0 and Demyx in KH. imo, his voice makes him the star of every scene he's in.

It’s pretty interesting to find out a lot of Zacks story was already written which makes sense because it seems like the most solid part of the compilation. I feel like the two biggest flaws of it were 1: trying to give fans what they felt fans remembered about 7 vs what it actually was like and 2: having to make so many projects in a such short succession.
Zack is a little special to me. Partly because of not getting into gaming until I was 19 in 2003, I didn't feel any connection to FFVII, and also had a terrible time with the combat. I couldn't handle the ATB, and even after gaining years of experience with ATB, the furthest I could play through was to the towers. The thing is when I got my PSP, it was suggested that I get Crisis Core. I was unsure of it, but I ended up loving the game so much that I replayed it multiple times, up to the point of maxing out the time stamp of the save file. It is thanks to Zack that I stayed with FFVII up to the point of fully completing Remake and enjoying it. P.S. I seriously wish now that I had kept the complete used copy that was in prestige condition that I got for $19.99 at GameStop in 2005 XD

I'm pretty sure I would regard Crisis Core much less favourably (due to its convoluted plot and over the top villain) if not for Zack and his infectious friendliness. When I get to the end, I know Zack won't make it, but a part of me always hopes against hope that he will defy fate and survive. I think a lot of people agree with me and that's why Zack will be in Rebirth. (though it will be funny to see the Cloud/Aerith shipper have a meltdown if the game has Zack and Aerith end up together)
With CC Reunion, they had a golden opportunity to implement the extended Zack and Cloud escape content, unburdened by the limitations of the PSP and giving this remake even more of a reason to exist. But they didn't...
The fan clubs do kinda pike massive holes in cloud's whole soldier first class identity. If there are do few that they are prsctically celebrities its really odd nobody caught on sooner. I guess there could be more anonymous members lore wise. Buts its still odd with how public facing they are in crisis core.
Why do you think they didn't add that last part of Crisis Core to Reunion? Storage wouldn't have been an issue and I'd assume money wasn't either after Remake's release in 2020.

There’s no gun to jump, except the mystery that Max Dood predicted years ago of how Rebirth (which he also predicted/practically named) will be like “The Empire Strikes Back.” This is from one of the latest interviews at a big French gaming event (I forget the name of, sorry).
Considering Zack's popularity, it was always fair to assume (ever since the DLC was released) that he would play a major role in Rebirth. Even without confirming information, it is fair to assume that.

I’d say it’s some of the dialogue/delivery that’s bad, if at least awkward, & not so much the rest. Though it’s what definitely what happened when placing Zack - an upbeat character like a tall glass of iced sweet tea - next to a bunch edge lords who likely drink their coffee black… Or in the drama king/Genesis’ case it’d likely be a Starbucks Secret Menu drink with some specifics. 🤣 Poor Zack is just a kind high school jock who’s trying to make sense of the world/people that Shinra/Jenova has poisoned to some degree.
Zack is just a side character and plot device people like because his game in the series had shiny new graphics for the intellectually vapid. His presence in the story this early basically cripples the final fantasy 7 experience for a newcomer. The real proof we live in a multiverse is the fact we live in a world where final fantasy vii remake isn’t a remake at all. Surely there is a universe out there where hironobu sakaguchi is the boss at square still and nomura is just doodling on paper like he should
I personally don't appreciate how they are throwing Zack into everything these days. I much preferred him as a minor character, the dark version of Cloud both in hair and attitude. Zack Ignores Tifa when she is fatally stabbed at Nibelheim, he doesn't communicate with his parents in 10 years and he only wants to visit Aerith so that he and Cloud will have a place to stay, deciding against it as soon as he remembers that her Mother will be there.. It made perfect sense in the original game as Cloud was an asshole because Zack was an asshole and Cloud's personality was taken from Zack. But Crisis Core made Zack a really nice guy out of nowhere, completely butchering his established character and the reason why Cloud was such a jerk in the fist half of the game. So now it makes zero sense as to why Cloud acts the way he does at the beginning of the game.
For those that haven’t played FF7OG, Zack is the same as he is in CCFF7. I think this guy needs to replay OG. Zack is seen caring about the guys in the truck that are carsick. Still doing his squats and excited about the next big mission. Zack was worried about Tifa being in team while going to the reactor. Zack busted him AND Cloud out of the mako tanks. Zack carried Cloud and protected Cloud for a long time till he couldn’t anymore. Zack is still Zack in all the games. Cloud is a jerk all on his own in the OG beginning.

Man, the remake is pretty and the gameplay is fun. But the script is so bad, Zack surviving is a prime example.
