Final Fantasy Type-0 is a very interesting entry into the Final Fantasy franchise, as it was a PSP-exclusive locked to Japan for a long time. It was only once Final Fantasy Type-0 HD arrived that Western audiences got to experience the game first-hand, and it brought many of us to tears!

A Type 0 video? I think I'm in heaven
The theme song, "Zero" by BUMP OF CHICKEN was of course created specifically for the game. The entire band had been FF fans their entire life and while they had worked on the Tales of series years prior, FF was really special to them and they felt honored to work on music for the game. Back then it was rare that global releases used the original JP theme songs, but SE kept the song in the global release of the game because BUMP OF CHICKEN pushed for it to be kept in due to how deeply the song tied into the story of the game. "Zero" is a gorgeous and iconic song for the franchise
Type-0 is criminally underrated and it has no right to be rated this low, it deserves more love. It's definitively one of the better modern titles released, even if the HD port isn't the best, it's still a solid, complete experience.

I hated type 0 when I first started playing it. Then I experimented with the other characters more and ended up actually liking it when I found ones i enjoyed playing as. The archetypes of the characters reminded me of how you could customize your party in ff5
Love Type-0, probably helps that I played the PSP version, which honestly just looks much better, higher res isn't worth as much as coheesive design (in my opinion at least.) Probably one of the better intro's as well, I really felt for that dude and his Chocobo. Also Takeharu Ishimoto made some fantastic soundtracks.

Final Fantasy Type 0 deserves more love and recognition. It has Takeharu Ishimoto compose the soundtrack after Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII, and he's the same guy behind TWEWY and NEO TWEWY's music! There was a time during childhood when I watched the trailer to Type 0's re-release, and young me was invested despite never getting the chance to play it. Can't remember that period, but of course I binged the franchise until playing FF7R.
I did follow the original development of this game, when it still was part of the XIII universe (the time when XV was supposed to be versus XIII) and never thought I got to play it, played the PSP version and the PS4 version but still didn't know everything you mentioned.
Type 0 is a game I have a weird relationship with. I adore it but I can't be bothered to try to beat it. XD

FF type 0 was actually my first game on ps4. In summer 2015 when I bought the console, I was allow to pick two games with my brother getting fifa 15 and me getting Type 0. Now to be fair, I got Type 0 because it had the FF15 demo which I was highly anticipated and my parents didn’t mind me playing the game because they knew I loved Final Fantasy series but I didn’t think I was expecting Type 0 to be violent they way it was and it… kinda upset my parents😅. That first fact makes me appreciate Type 0 more knowing that it lead to the HD Remasters of Final Fantasy X/X-2 and possibly more remasters that came in afterwards
