    Thank you for touching on the subject of the Luminists (1850-1875). There are very few sources on this subject, my primary one being Wilmerding's book, "American Light". These ideas have greatly influenced my own landscapes in both painting and photography.

    Well done, David. Loved the history. Loved the minimalism… so rich, soft, vibrant and full of light. There’s a deep, luxurious tranquility imbued upon the viewer that makes one want to spend an eternity captivated in its thrall.

    So Nancy, do you still consider you painted that piece or not?

    • @DavidDunlopSimmonsArt
      @DavidDunlopSimmonsArt  3 месяца назад

      Dear Vickie - Thank you for writing. David has worked with most of his students for many years and ALWAYS asks them if they would like him to demonstrate his comments and thoughts on their paintings, which is a time honored process of teaching painting. We realize that others may have different thoughts about this process and have a different method of teaching. His students always want to watch his different ideas on their painting so that they can continue to learn and also to use the techniques themselves in the future. These are works to continue learning new techniques and compositions. And yes, they still consider that they painted the paintings and may keep or change David's changes to the paintings. Thank you for your thoughts. Kind regards, Connie and David

    David is a compelling teacher, but his brutal highjacking of his pupil’s painting is deplorable at best.

      @DavidDunlopSimmonsArt  Год назад

      Dear George - Thank you so much for watching and writing to us. That is such a great comment about teaching methods. Kathy is one of David's students and, as we mentioned, consented to and requested David's comments and changes. His students use these moments with David as experiences for learning different techniques and thoughts and appreciate his efforts. We understand that certain painters and teachers have different preferences, and David would never touch a student's painting without their explicit consent and desire. Thank you! Kind regards, Connie

    Overpainting a student's work is not an honorable teaching technique...so bad i cannot watch. As he says..if IWANT...his student is broken. Its NOT fun to paint " with" him...its demeaning. EGOIST

    • @DavidDunlopSimmonsArt
      @DavidDunlopSimmonsArt  3 месяца назад

      Dear Jay - Thank you for writing. David has worked with most of his students for many years and ALWAYS asks them if they would like him to demonstrate his comments and thoughts on their paintings, which is an honorable, time tested process of teaching painting. None of his students consider this a demeaning process and are happy to see different ideas and solutions. We realize that others - like you - may have different thoughts about this process and have a different method of teaching - we respect that. However, David's student appreciate and want to watch his different ideas on their painting so that they can continue to learn and also to use the techniques themselves in the future. These are works to continue learning new techniques and compositions. They may keep or change David's changes to the paintings, as they like. Thank you for your thoughts and concerns. Kind regards, Connie and David
