    Good review.
    Note that the PC version of ACC is at 1.8 with tire changes and on PS5 it is still at 1.7. This will make some difference in the FFB. I have ACC on PC and PS5 and before version 1.8, I almost didn't notice the difference.

      Yeah, I think Ricardo hit the spot!
      I also did notice a good difference on the FFB from 1.7 to 1.8. All that difference in detail mentioned on the video between PS5 and PC is exactly how I would describe the difference from 1.7 to 1.8 on pc. And I have a T300RS... so in direct drive must be felt even a bigger difference.

      Be better if they tested more wheels and actually just programmed the wheel settings to be optimized for each wheel base.

    • @orbilator
      @orbilator 2 года назад +1

      I agree when 1,8 comes out for ps5 then it should be revisited as I know the 1.8 are being programmed specifically for each console, hence the delay. Should be out this month. I suppose ultimately how much you have to spend on these things, if you spend 2 grand on a pc 1k on a rig and 900 on a wheel then I'd be hopping everything was much better. Taking out the 2k pc and replacing it with a 360 pounds ps5 it shouldn't be as good.

  • @Perez-lh2xn
    @Perez-lh2xn 2 года назад +11

    Just yesterday I did the same acc test on pc vs ps5 at home. my steering wheel is the TGT. With the same settings except the strength that on pc has to be lowered above 80 to be equal to 100 strength on ps5. I was testing almost 3 hours in batches of 30 minutes alternating all the time from PC to Ps5. I agree with everything that is talked about in the video, the sensations and the information that arrives at the wheel is better on PC, the sensations are better. for ps5 the feeling is more linear without so many nuances. once well used to both platforms the lap time at the end of the 3 hours was practically the same.

      @@Sideways_Singh 400hz is the polling rate for all the data about the physics, tyres and so on, video refresh rate and FFB are another thing.
      Because we don’t know the actual physics refresh rate on nextgen console version, we can just speculate about improvements. Maybe the physics on consoles has a sort of frequency cap to not compromise video performance.
      It will be interesting to see the full PS5 output support at 4K 120hz (video refresh rate), but I’m quite sure they ‘capped’ the pshysics calculations to have the 4K 60hz steady video performance.

    1.8 console update. Many of us are waiting patiently with building excitement. We all have only 9 days left till the major release what will change ACC gameplay a lot.
    I’m from London UK and have been racing AC and ACC on PS4 and PS5. I’ve raced over 1000+ hours on AC and over 1000+hrs on ACC PS4 version. Now building up big time on PS5. Joined a league, 10TENTH RACING COMMUNITY,fantastic! True addict, aren’t you? Since release of ACC I had many serious problems with the game. And with every new update, with release of PS5 console, with new ACC console version I have felt a lot of new optimistic expectations followed by disappointment and a letdown from game developers. I’ve been lucky to always have a good FFB on my T300 Ferrari Alcantara edition and now DD1, but there were other problems what took a lot of nerve and patience. It’s hard to remember all the issues but there are few what stand out to me. For example not able to join multiplayer and the proposed fix was to delete my carefully selected 300 racing friends from AC and ACC. Of course I refused to do that and kept waiting till issue was fixed. That was a big wait but I used time to practice my racing in single player. Another problem is crashing Career. It crashed on three occasions trying to complete career endurance race of 3hours non stop racing. It crashed twice somewhere in last leg. Other day I completed the race, crossed finish line and while checking lap times game crashed not saving my career endurance progress. I was fuming! Another issue we all experienced was game simply crashing midrace, it happened a lot. So annoying and was makings me really angry when I had a good race. Then replay save crash needs to be looked at. Even now after all possible updates on PS5 software and ACC PS5 version updates I am experiencing game crashes, some DD1 disconnects, poor visuals as shading under cars, cars flickering. Other minor game bugs - Pit entrance notice issue, not able to use mapped buttons to look left/right as I can on AC version, no in cockpit turn indicators and headlighs LED’s. Sound issues after watching replay and rejoining track. One occation I had cockpit view flickering in career race, there was no flickering from outside view. Many gamers have poor FFB and other issues with game. The most major is game crashing and disconnects while racing leagues Championships. Over 2 years time since ACC console release game is not in a perfect state yet, but it’s playable and enjoyable. I wish there was more communication and a HELPING HAND between Kunos and UntoldGames who develops console version now. I wish thee was more communication from 505games what is distributor’s of console ACC. And I believe we console players deserve an APOLOGY from 505 games and Kunos for a big letdown because I believe game is not completed, it’s got many problems and is like in a beta version. We PS5 players are lucky to have both versions available to play side by side on PS5. I switch between PS5 and PS4 version because PS5 lobbies has small attendance numbers.
    With 1.8 version PS5 and Xbox UntoldGames has to nail it. No excuses, it has to be perfection. Watching official Kunos ytube channel I learned Marcos, Aris and team still have that passion, they put a lot of effort developing PC 1.8 version what is a massive overhaul of ACC what changed already great game to something fascinating and they are proud of it. Would be shame if UntoldGames would do a poor job with console 1.8 version and drop all that KUNOS effort down in a mud. We don’t know what to expect precisely, announcement stated upgraded tyre model and 400hz + different liveries? We will see. Researching PC 1.8 update, numerous patch notes and reviews I learned about UPDATED rain visuals, rain tyre handling, rain track limits, cars BOP’s, reworked replay camera angles, mist and dew conditions, car night lights, bmw fuel consumption,there is so much more. PC 1.8 version is always updated. So which 1.8 version + latest update we console gamers will receive is not known yet. But it will change the game for sure.

    God dammit! This is so typical.. Last week I upgraded from csl elite to the Podium dd f1. Feeling disappointed about how bad ACC is on ps4(pro), specially after it turned out that the ps4 version of acc wasn’t receiving the same update, sooo I went on and got me a PC as well while I waited.
    I then built a new rig using the exact same measurements as the Px-1, only I built it using wooden beams, painted black. Costed me like 100$, and there is absolutely no flex whatsoever.
    First test drive today, and I have been smiling like a 5 year old for hours before being able to take a brake. I absolutely LOVE the feeling of immersion from the upgraded force feedback, not to mention the vast improvement in torque when going from csl elite’s 7nm peak to 20nm peak, using the podium wheelbase.
    But then I get this RUclips notification on my phone, leading me to this video. I usually really enjoy your content, but today I actually wished I didn’t watch.
    Now I’m sitting in the shower, crying, screaming and banging my head against the wall while I regret buying the podium, instead of getting me a Csl DD with its 100nm!!🤯@11:00😉

    Someone who creates sim racing videos for a living should be more informed to know that the PC version of ACC is updated to 1.8.12 whereas PS5 currently is running 1.7 and the 1.8 update for ACC was a HUUUGE update which changed everything and people had to completely change their setups and how they drove the cars probably should've waited until both platforms are running the same version but thats just me. Also the pressures of your car was all over the show not even optimum tire pressure some not even reaching 27 psi you want to be aiming for 27.5/7 pressures in this game its the first thing you have to learn without that basic 101 you wont reach peak performance on track and your car will feel like ass, would be nice if you could get a some good setups for the chosen car and a track which does these types of testing that way you will know the subtle differences and do some proper laps with the same equipment that way youll have a good understanding of the differences.

      Hey mate!
      I switched my TGT & T-LCM to the Fanatec GT DD Pro with loadcell and Boost kit, and it's made a huge difference with non GT titles, both PS5 and especially PC, particularly ACC. Probably because ACC have close ties with Fanatec.
      It's been just over a month now, and the only thing I'm still slightly adjusting to is the loadcell difference... the Fanatec feel with the CSL pedals is a completely different feel... it may be a single choice 60kg, but I have to use more force than I did with the T-LCM at near 100kg. I wouldn't say the feel is better, just different. The build quality is way better though. And the wheel and base is significantly better all around.
      Definitely worth the switch if you can afford it IMO, especially if you're switching between Console and PC often.
      For the 1 week I played Sport before GT7 was released, I was beating my PB's by 0.1-2 secs.

    Great video, I use PS5 with Fanatec Podium/DD1 Wheelbase, mostly for dirt rally 2.0 but ACC is my go to track sim. I love it and the fidelity feels incredible to me, I'm a little surprised by the refresh rate being different when the USB 3.0 bus is obviously the same as you'd get speed wise on a high end PC, so must be down to software. People question sometimes why I don't PC sim race but budget is an important factor with high end PCs being 3-4 times more expensive than the £450 RRP of a PS5, I also feel console titles are way more reliable and therefore less stress when sim racing, on more than one occasion I've won some local motorclub dirt rally club championships because my closest competitor had Windoze crash him out (no restarts allowed), where as I get 100% reliability. Cheers!

    • @o.s.racing

      I was just having this debate. I already have a PS5 but building a dedicated sim racing rig I was considering a PC. However trying to get a decent spec PC is considerably more expensive and more complicated. My son's racing is the primary reason for this and a console is far simpler for him to get booted up and racing without other issues so in end I've bought a second PS5 to go in the rig which still gives access to some great racing games. A bit further down the line I will probably go the PC route. I'm sure PC is better if you are an expert sim racer, but we are just getting into it so I'm not sure we'll get an extra 1-2k value out of an expensive gaming PC...

    Oh man. Your driving on console mercifully reminded me of mine and it’s nice to know perhaps the hardware has at least some responsibility there.
    I did the math once and the input lag on console translates to between something like 4 and 12 meters distance depending on your speed. So, on slow corners aim 4m “too soon” and even earlier on fast corners and you’ll find hitting apexes much easier. (I was using lap guides to find breaking points but could never break as late as I saw in the videos and the math explained it…. When I stopped to think about it after a few months 😅)
    Anyway Tl;DR: I think input lag is the #1 discrepancy between pc and console and I feel like it’s very likely you’ll find most of the difficulty lies there rather than the ffb fidelity.
    The only solace is that you race against others dealing with the same issue so it’s an even playing field at least. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Been following you through your journey since early covid and dig your work. Great vid !
    Edit : those numbers were for input lag in multiplayer servers. It’s still there in single player but a bit less (still a lot more than on pc I hear)

    • @RaskalTheRabbit
      @RaskalTheRabbit 2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I've found I'm breaking earlier on the PS5 as well, so I'd have to agree lag plays a big part... and I'm using an ASUS ROG STRIX XG43UQ 4K monitor, not a TV, I don't think I could ever go back to a TV for even Gran Turismo... using a good monitor definitely gives me an edge in online racing, plus a good internet connection helps, too.

    • @jacohop
      @jacohop 2 года назад +1

      @@RaskalTheRabbit hmmm. I think even with the fastest monitor or zero latency - the console itself still has built in latency. In my setup it’s the console not the tv that causes most of the delay… in single player my breaking refs are a lot deeper than online, and on online they depend on the server. Ex If I play on a North American one they’re deeper/later than on European servers.
      I’m embarrassed to say It took me a long time to figure that out…
      on a positive note Xbox Series X has significantly less input delay that my One S did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @@jacohop regions make a massive difference, especially with consoles... when I race on my EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) account in GT from Australia, even with the best possible internet connection (which isn't great here compared to many other countries), it looks slightly laggy to me, but to them sometimes I'm jumping all over the place. The good thing about that game is that when you're on the grid pre race, it shows you the quality of everyone's connection very clearly, so others, and yourself can take note. I personally just keep my distance and expect the occasional unexpected punt when racing closely, and give them the benefit of doubt.
      iRacing servers seem to be as good as one can reasonably expect in my experience, as I often team up with friends from Britain for endurance races... though it means I typically get stuck with the night racing.

      @@josephm3615 So you can compare apples to apples. In the video he stated that the difference in the feel of the FFB may be due to the FFB rate, with the PS5 at 60 Hz and the PC at 400 Hz. If you drop the PC rate down to 100 Hz (that's as low as mine shows it can go), then you can possibly see if the rate is the reason for the difference in feel. I'm not saying leave it there; just temporarily drop it to test the hypothesis.

      The fact that you have to ask says that you already have your bias and are looking for confirmation of that bias. GT has always been a sim racer. The biggest difference between GT and PC sims has always been hardware, specifically the exclusivity of GT to the playstation console and the fact that other sim racers such as ACC can be played on PC. As playstation hardware has improved, GT titles have typically improved the physics model with each hardware iteration as it maintains the intention to deliver a realistic simulation of racing. From a gameplay standpoint, GT7 is what you might get if you were to combine the robust career options in the original Asetto Corsa and the competitive multiplayer of ACC and put them into a GT game. You can also repackage that statement to say that Asetto Corsa and ACC are like components of GT games made available for every platform. However you would like to phrase it, it is important to note that GT is made by a professional racer who heads the playstation studio and he has always created one of the more accurate sim physics models in gaming. To answer your question directly, yes GT is a sim, the difference between it and other sims is exclusivity to playstation consoles whereas ACC is multiplatform and iRacing is on PC

      @@epicjapan8009 I’ve played GT7 and ACC. It’s not night and day as you seem to be suggesting. Using the DD Pro on both. Only difference is the FFB input in both. I get similar lap times at Spa in ACC and GT7.

      @@nicko5237 the balance point of the car is wrong on GT7 - the handling just isn’t right. A bit of an oversimplification but, in GT7 the pivot point seems to be the front tires rather than the center of mass.

    Ps5 console maximum ffb rate is 250hz.
    I don’t know if ACC uses this 250hz in game on console. But the Fanatec manual says when the base is in ps5 mode it’s refreshing at 250hz. If the game is running lower rate then it’s whatever the developer has set

      Possibly. Although that doesn’t necessarily mean the game is utilising all available bandwidth.

    As someone who can't/ won't afford a PC, but has a ps5, would I be disappointed with acc ffb? I'm loving gt7 and how is ffb feels, and I know it's apples and oranges comparing gt and ac. But will the ffb feel as polished on acc ps5? I remember being very disappointed in wrc and dirt 2.0 ffb feel after playing a lot of gt sport on ps4. Just upgraded to the premium version dd pro(from a t300rsgt) and am looking to get the most out of it, but don't want to get let down by the ffb quality.

      Yep that’s definitely true. As I mentioned in the video I have no muscle memory with this setup which is a much bigger contributor to the lap times. Having a single projector dar away is wildly different from what I’m used to.
