Sergio. It takes 50 hours to pay rental in California.. theres only a small window for profit forcing you to work 7 days a week. 60 plus hours..its abusing augothyms to manipulate drivers. yes, I make between $31-$35 an hour coz my active time and online hours are always almost similar. I don’t sit around cherry picking the hell out of it..I prefer to be busy and moving. And I am in the SF Bay Area market if that helps you.

Another hidden cost of renting EV is loss of earning: 1) driving to a nearest charging station and hoping there is available chargers. 2) time spent charging -- at least 30 to 50 minutes.

From my experience renting with Lyft express drive, I’ve had better experience with Lyft Flex drive vs Hertz. You can still make profits but you definitely have to put more hours in and plan more accordingly. I used to rent before the pandemic to save wear and tear on my regular car until I got my Lexus. But I did have to rent Hertz for Uber for a month when my Lexus was getting body repairs done and also for the last quarter of 2023 due to making up lost time for having COVID. Since then I haven’t done any rentals for Uber or Lyft. Currently I’m avoiding Hertz.

I asked the Lyft chatbot if signing up for lyft express meant I still qualified for the 70% (or more) payout commitment they made.
Answer: No, this commitment is not available in all mkts (like mine)
So, you get no commitment to get 70% AND the almost 20% haircut on fare paid to drivers.
BTW the chatbot says the fare haircut pays for ins (because of the $1000 deductible), maint on car and roadside assistance.
Lyft also said these charges vary based on time and distance of trip. So more buttons for them to twiddle, as Mr Doctorow would say.
I have have screens shots of this chat dialogue

My guess as to why rentals are getting screwed is because Uber and Lyft do not want people to just use a rental as an entry into the market. If you have that kind of availability to drive literally anyone can just hop on which will only further saturate the market

I’m willing to bet these guys are just making a huge deal out of something that’s happening to select few drivers. I’m also willing to bet those drivers are not paying close enough attention to the contracts they are signing.
Be curious to see all these emails Sergio claims to be getting about this problem. He tends to make things out like they are such a humongous deal and he’s got so much going on when in reality it’s probably not true.

Uber is hooking a bunch of saps on the app and making them into slaves. i witness some of the worst offers for literal pennies disappear from the trip radar, and i ask myself who is doing these? Well obviously these immigrants and poor saps are. It's 12am - 3am these horrible rides are still disappearing. I found out today more sly cooper tactics uber uses to get rides out and they Never stop scheming. I cancel if i get a bad feeling about a ride im about to take(as in i wont enjoy this ride and they wont tip anyway). i was on the lyft app and i had someone cancel on me based off the fact that i was sitting around the corner waiting on a ride and sent a simple(im in a silver car) message, it was 4am. There are alot of people who have horrifying experiences with drivers because those drivers view what they do as a 9-5 and not contract work as a result, filthy interiors, unwashed cars, terrible smells, horrible attitudes, unwilling to give a little gratitude or put away judgement just people who are at the mercy of the corporations and at the riders expense that sucks but what's even worse is people who dont think outside of that and say who can i reach out for reliable transportation, that's a descent person and cares about their work. They are also using multiple phones to snatch up this ride offers so no one else can get them in time.
