    Two things: they shifted a bulk of request to trip radar about 2 months ago (Atl). 2nd, it's about more profit when newbies accept but also less on their aws cpu cycles. Ex old way trip request from rider - hits aws server, server calculates closer 5-10 drivers then narrows that down to who is or isn't in a current ride, request to driver, driver doesn't accept back to server to start process second time before sending it to trip radar. In this process two more packets of data are sent from each driver lowering their acceptance rate. New setup request from rider to server, server pings all devices listening on socket, 3 acceptance come in and server routes to quickest pickup.

    I experienced this yesterday May 4, 2024. All but one ride. Every single ride was trip radar. On three of the rides I did not except trip radar. Each one immediately came back to me as a regular ride. And each one was under a five minute pick up. One of them went to Los Angeles. And one of them went to LAX. Third one was from UCI to the Wilton. Not quite sure why they’re using trip radar when I am the closest driver to the pick up. The other Was from a birthday party to their home. Which was off the freeway for the drop. And to their house. Which I like they’re quick and simple. 10 bucks

    One problem with trip radar is that if you are waiting to match on a trip, you might get another trip radar ping or and exclusive ping at the same time. So which trip are you supposed to take? Reject the exclusive trip while waiting for the match, dinging your AR? Or accept the exclusive trip that may or may not be better than the trip radar one you are waiting on?

    I would say that Trip Radar here in Boston is about 50% junk (too far away or bad money) and 50% actual good rides but don't fit the standard strategy (perhaps don't say right in the best area). So it just comes down to your particular plan for the day if it is a good ride or not

    • @HarringJess
      @HarringJess 27 дней назад

      I've noticed the same in Boston, too. I focus on local rides and I drive where ppl won't, for example, Worcester. Worcester is a beast and the rates are substantially lower but I only take what matches my desired mileage and destination. I now do about two to four rides in the morning before work going to the Worcester area (Millbury/Grafton/Auburn/Boylston), and then after work I do Eats and Pax pickup in Newton/Chestnut Hill, so I will do a destination to Star Market in Chestnut Hill, and I'll always have someone needing to go there since it surrounds Brookline, Allston/Brighton and Newton bleeds into almost everything. When I'm done, I drive straight up Route 9 home and I don't work past 7pm since my day job is 8am to 4pm.
      Worcester is a beast, though. I no longer X-out of trips, I let them cancel out on their own. I'm almost certain that a lot of ppl just don't ever get to where they need to go because I've seen the same ones come to me over and over. Not so much when I'm in Boston proper, but mostly the suburbs
      I've been doing Uber for 8yrs, and this new day job is my first regular job in over 14years.

    I have been driving in Dallas for 10 years for Uber and taxi before that, trip radar is ok but the way it works is wrong if you can’t take a selfie for Uber for verifications due to safety concern trip radar also applies to those drivers who are stationary and not driving then it will give the opportunity for everyone to look at or in a setup like airport queue not while driving, also the way it is now most driver bid on the trip without even know where it’s going then get the trip look at it and cancel it that’s why when you are at airport you see a trip coming on radar then someone took just to return back to radar screen 2 minutes later this is hurting both customers and drivers at the same time

    Off topic. Uber and Lyft are acting as NEMT where they are paid $100+ for a trip and only paying us $5. Boosts tend to be higher after completing these trips. NEMT drivers are typically trained, w2;employees and required to have a certain vehicle and insurance. Yet Uber and Lyft can magically override those state rules and Knight us as NEMT vehicles and drivers. No this is exploitation. The Govt doesn't want to help because they don't represent self employed even though we pay taxes. Religious organizations don't pay taxes but have Govt representation. .this is madness! The Govt needs to acknowledge that gig workers make the world go round. The Govt needs to do more to regulate ride share to protect drivers from the abuse we are enduring as drivers..

    I don't know what either of you is saying about multiple trips popping up while driving. It doesn't allow that anymore. You have to be stopped. So maybe at a light or in slow traffic, but not regular speed. It will only present one. That said, if I stop the car, suddenly nothing pops up. If I'm rolling, it will only show the worst options of several that would present.

      I see that sometimes, too. It comes and goes, but overall yes. If your stopped, sometimes it doesn't want to show anything but when your moving, they ping like crazy

    More trip radars in Vegas, than a few months ago! But you have to be the fastest finger in the west to get a good one. Then they come back with a $4-5 crap regular choice ride! BS control!

  • @NiceBoysWin

    We aren’t competing with other drivers on trip radar as much as it is Uber controlling us. With the way some of these trip radar requests get taken up, it’s a thing to consider. Oh, $17 for a seven mile, 20 min ride? Let’s pull that back and say another driver took the request.

    Trip radar sucks. They want me to go up to 20 minutes in another direction and with no care about the fact I am driving an electric vehicle. Most trips on radar wastes my EV power

  • @salukidean
    @salukidean 29 дней назад

    Some of these offers are so bad, they need trip radar to find a big enough fool to accept them. Rides that take 35-40 minutes to complete and pay $6-7 are money losers. Offering them to drivers one at time May take forever til someone takes it. They have to offer it to hundreds of drivers at a time to make sure one clueless person says yes.

    It''s just a matter of time before states enact laws that TNC requests can only be sent to a driver when they are stopped. Remember this Comment !

      True! Remember when we had to do a selfie verif? We could do it while driving. Now you have to be stopped to take the selfie. Uber's notif says, "Please pull over before taking picture"
      Lyft won't let you text the pax while driving toward them

    I'm gonna say more like your AR is so low that Uber is only sending you trash at this point. I've never even seen trip radar during a ride. I'm at a 90ar and still averaging 34ish per hour throughout the week. Up to 40hr or higher during peak times. Cherry picking screwed you all.

      I still got trash rides when I had 90% AR and 2% CR. Or maybe that’s the problem this whole time. I drive for profits and it’s on Uber’s end to make me give a fuck about accepting rides on their platform. We are independent contractors and are free to accept or decline an offer without repercussion. No way I’m beating my car down for a 9 mile, half hour round tripper for $9 when I could be patient and stick around for that one ride that would pay me fairly, let alone pay me my worth. And when I’m still given shit, I’ll call Uber’s bluff and make it my worth when I know damn well I’m getting paid less than half a passenger is paying for a ride. Oh, a 15 mile, hour long ride for $25 in California traffic? Cool. I’ll accept. Just don’t get mad when I cancel on arrival and offer to give the ride to the passenger off the app for $45. Pay me or trade me.

    • @HarringJess
      @HarringJess 27 дней назад

      @@NiceBoysWin Yup! Same here. I made $121 for 3-hours, I waited for the good ones. I go off line for a bit until I'm matched with the rides I want. Due to my household having a main source of income, we both got jobs roughly around the same time. 3 sources of income, Uber is our 4th on the side only. I work a few trips before work and after work. This is just until debt is paid off and paid down, then I will only do it for leisure, fun or to save up for a new car. I no longer use Uber as a sole source of income
